Trump Repeats Lie That “So Many Parents” Of Korean War Vets Asked Him To Bring Their Sons Home

Donald Trump’s lies have become so multitudinous that I’ve not been able to keep up lately.

But I have to address this particular lie, which the Trumpster repeated yet again today.

Donald Trump said a few days ago and then again this morning on Fox News that “so many parents” of Korean War vets asked him on the campaign trail in 2016 to please help bring home the remains of their sons.

To be clear – the Korean War ended in 1953.

My own father served in the Korean War. He died in 2008 at the age of 91.

His father was born in 1892 and died in 1979. He would be 126 years old today.

My father’s mother was born in 1898 and died in 1964. She would be 120 years old.

Now, can you imagine tons of folks in their 120s traipsing to Trump campaign rallies and stopping him to ask to bring home their sons’ remains?

Donald Trump Wants His People To “Sit Up At Attention” When He Speaks

Donald Trump told Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy that he likes how North Koreans "sit up and pay attention" when Kim Jong Un speaks, and he would like his people "to do the same"

With Fox News morning show “Fox and Friends” airing from the lawn of the White House, Donald Trump strolled out to chat with host Steve Doocy Friday morning

During the interview segment talking about North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, Trump shared that he he admires how North Koreans “sit up at attention” when their leader speaks and he wants “my people to do that same.”

Left out of that comment is the fact that Kim is a dictator who starves its own people.

“Hey, he is the head of a country and I mean he is the strong head,” Mr. Trump told Fox News’ Steve Doocy on the White House lawn Friday. “Don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.”

Trump later told a reporter said he was “kidding.”

“I’m kidding, you don’t understand sarcasm,” the president said.

Watch the clip below. There doesn’t seem to be any “humor” in his statement.

Remember when the Obama detractors lost their shit when President Obama bowed to foreign dignitaries?

The outrage!

Now this from Daily Kos:

You’d think it would be a no-brainer not to salute a general from a foreign military, one that has been threatening nuclear war with the United States for decades. But, not Trump.

And now North Korean state-run television is running this video on repeat. Donald Trump saluting their general, giving him the ultimate legitimacy. What kind of message does that send to the North Koreans who’ve been living under the threat of starvation and firing squads at the hands of this very same general?

This comes at almost the same time that Trump defended Kim Jong Un in an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier:

“He’s a tough guy. Hey, when you take over a country, tough country, tough people, and you take it over from your father … if you could do that at 27-years old, I mean, that’s 1 in 10,000 that could do that.”

Trump’s “Fixer” Michael Cohen Expects To Be Arrested Soon

MSNBC news anchor reports that Michael Cohen, longtime attorney and “fixer” for Donald Trump, expects to be arrested any time now.

Lawyers at the Southern District of New York have reportedly called Cohen’s attorneys, saying they were “preparing paperwork” to arrest Cohen.

It was reported earlier today that his legal team has quit and Cohen could flip on Trump.

From The New York Times:

Mr. Cohen has not yet been contacted by the prosecutors who are conducting the inquiry, according to two people briefed on the case.

But as the investigation widens, and with Mr. Cohen’s legal team in turmoil, the chances increase that Mr. Cohen could cooperate with prosecutors, as first reported by ABC News.

Mr. Cohen’s current legal team is expected to stay with him for the rest of the week as they struggle to complete a laborious review of a trove of documents and data files seized from him by the authorities two months ago. But after that review is finished, he will seek new legal counsel, the people familiar with his case said. The issue is primarily over payment of the legal bills of one of his lawyers, Stephen Ryan, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

On April 9, federal agents descended on Mr. Cohen’s office, apartment and hotel room, hauling away reams of paperwork and files from about 30 cellphones, iPads and computers. For several months, the prosecutors have been looking into whether Mr. Cohen broke the law in any business projects, including hush-money payments he made to women who claim they had affairs with Mr. Trump.

Mr. Trump’s lawyers have resigned themselves to the strong possibility that this investigation could lead Mr. Cohen to cooperate with prosecutors.

Donald Trump Declares “There Is No Longer A Nuclear Threat From North Korea”

In an early morning Twitter thread, Donald Trump declared that “There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea.”

This comes after Trump’s five hour summit meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un earlier this week.

The Donald also attempted to deflect his decision to suspend military maneuvers with South Korea in an act of appeasement to North Korea by tweeting “We save a fortune by not doing war games.”

So, there you go – problem solved?

Citing His “Special Bond” With Kim Jong Un, Trump Signs Agreement To Suspend Military Exercises With South Korea

After a half-day of “intensive” meetings, Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un publicly signed a joint statement Tuesday agreeing to pursue the denuclearization of North Korea although some described the document as “brief and vague.”

As part of the agreement, Trump promised to suspend joint military exercises with South Korea.

From NBC News:

The pact came at the end of a historic half-day round of negotiations that marked the first time a sitting U.S. president had met with his North Korean counterpart. “From the beginning, we got along,” Trump later told reporters.

Trump also confirmed military exercises involving American and South Korea forces would be put on hold for now. He said sanctions imposed against the Kim regime would not be removed until “we are sure that the nukes are no longer a factor.”

While the agreement fell short of outlining concrete measures that would lead to Kim giving up his nuclear weapons program — the stated long-term goal of U.S. negotiators — it gave Trump and Kim a piece of paper to point to as a sign of progress and a symbol of goodwill.

Trump told ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos just hours after the summit meeting that he believes North Korea will denuclearize because of his newly-found “special bond” with Kim Jong Un.

“I do trust him, yeah,” Trump said. “Maybe in a year you’ll be interviewing and I’ll say I made a mistake. It’s possible. We’re dealing at a high level, a lot of things can change, a lot of things are possible.”

“I think our whole relationship with North Korea and the Korean Peninsula – it’s going to be a very different relationship than it has in the past,” Trump said. He went on to say that he and Kim have “developed a very special bond” and that they spent “a lot of time together today, very intensive time.”

At a press conference after the meeting of the two leaders, Trump acknowledged that he has invited Kim Jong Un to the White House and the North Korean leader has accepted.

Trump also shared that he has no notes from the summit because he doesn’t need them. “I don’t have to verify because I have one of the great memories of all time.”

Donald Trump covers the latest issue of TIME Magazine with the title, “King Me.”

The in-depth article by Molly Ball and Tessa Berenson goes into the ongoing warfare between Team Trump and Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

It’s a dangerous moment for Trump.

If he agrees to talk, the notoriously undisciplined President risks making a false statement, which could be a crime like the one that led to Bill Clinton’s impeachment.

But if he refuses, Mueller could issue a subpoena, instigating a long, high-profile court battle over whether Trump could be forced to testify.

The two legal teams–Mueller’s squad of top prosecutors and Trump’s rotating cast of advocates–are haggling over what an interrogation would look like: how long it would be, what topics would be on the table and whether the session would be recorded.

Before the President talks to investigators, Trump’s team wants to see the authorization letter that established Mueller’s authority, according to Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

They are also demanding the special counsel’s report to be issued within 60 days of any interview.

Trump Calls For Reinstating Russia To The ‘Group Of 7’ Nations

Heading to Canada today for the annual G7 summit,Donald Trump has called for reinstating Russia to the ‘Group of 7’ nations.

Russia was ousted four years ago from the group of leading industrial countries after invading Crimea and they haven’t left.

Why reward Putin and pals for nothing?

From The New York Times:

“Russia should be in this meeting,” Mr. Trump said. “Why are we having a meeting without Russia being in the meeting? And I would recommend — and it’s up to them, but Russia should be in the meeting, it should be a part of it. You know, whether you like it or not, and it may not be politically correct, but we have a world to run and the G-7 — which used to be the G-8, they threw Russia out. They should let Russia come back in because we should have Russia at the negotiating table.”

Russia joined the group in the 1990s after emerging from the wreckage of the Soviet Union, making it the G-8, but its armed intervention in its neighbor Ukraine in 2014 and seizure of the Crimean peninsula angered other major powers. The remaining members, led by President Barack Obama, expelled it in a sign of global resolve not to let international borders be redrawn by force.

Mr. Trump offered no specific reasoning for why Russia should be let back in even though it retains control of Crimea and has not lived up to an international agreement to end its intervention in eastern Ukraine.

Man, Trump sure is loyal to the country that elected him.

Trump Twitter Rant: “13 Angry Democrats (Plus)”

Donald Trump on Thursday railed yet again today on Twitter regarding special counsel Robert Mueller’s team saying the investigations have shown bias against him.

None of that has been proven. This is called deflection. And those folks who are too weak or lazy to actually read real news believe it.

Trump called for a list of the group’s “many conflicts of interest” to be publicized. Mueller himself is a life-long Republican. He also revived his calls for “the server” which folks guess refers to Hillary Clinton’s email server that was turned over to authorities years ago.

Trump continues to push the theory that the FBI implanted a spy in his campaign even though Republican lawmakers who saw classified material on the FBI informant said they did not see evidence to support Trump’s claims.

Expect More Pardons From Donald Trump

Donald Trump came into the White House expecting to run his administration the way he’d run the Trump Organization.

The Trumpster expected to be able to make decisions and snap his fingers and his bidding would be done.

But the reality of working in government was a learning curve for the Donald.

From judges holding up his executive orders to Congress’ glacial pace on legislation, this president needed instant gratification.

And he’s found it in this one presidential power that no one can dispute.

From CNN:

The White House has assembled the paperwork to pardon dozens of people, two sources with knowledge of the developments tell CNN, signaling that President Donald Trump is poised to exert his constitutional power and intervene, in some instances, where he believes the Justice Department has overstepped.

The administration has prepared the pardoning paperwork for at least 30 people, the sources tell CNN. One of those is Alice Johnson, the 63-year-old Tennessee woman who was sentenced to life in prison in 1996 on charges related to cocaine possession and money laundering.

Kim Kardashian West met with Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner in the Oval Office last week in an attempt to convince him to pardon her. Trump has not yet decided whether he will move forward with either a pardon or commutation for Johnson.

The White House announced today that Trump has commuted Johnson’s sentence.

I do think a life sentence for Johnson, who apparently was only involved in communications regarding the drug charge, is way steep.

But some folks are wary that Trump is setting an odd and unsettling precedent.
