Today In Good “Christian” Love

Virulently anti-gay Theodore Shoebat is oh so unhappy that President Obama has nominated openly gay Eric Fanning to be Secretary of the Army.

From Right Wing Watch:

“In 2012, Obama got rid of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” Shoebat declared, “which basically means that fags can be out in the open in their flaming fag ways, regardless of the fact that they are decreasing the morale of fellow soldiers. It doesn’t matter, they can be flaming homos right there in the U.S. military, they can be sodomizing each other right there in the military barracks.”

The nomination of “Eric Flaming Fag,” as Shoebat put it, by the “pro-fag, pro-sodomy, anti-family, anti-Christ president” is just further “evidence as to the bullcrap that we have been seeing throughout the years from this satanic administration.”

I gotta say, my gaydar is pinging here. We’ve got some wildly flamboyant hand gestures and air quotes going on.

This Shoebat is seriously batshit crazy.

Hey man – the 80s called, they’d like their homophobia back.

Philadelphia: Three Accused In Vicious Hate Crime Due In Court October 15

Kevin Harrigan (left), Philip Williams (center) and Kathryn Knott

It looks like October 15th will be the day Philadelphia will see if the three young haters who attacked and beat two gay men (leaving one with a shattered jaw for weeks)  in Center City will get justice or a slap on the wrist

From Philly.com:

Kevin Harrigan, 27, of Warrington; Philip Williams, 25, of Warminster; and Kathryn Knott, of Southampton, who turns 25 Friday, are charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy and related offenses in the Sept. 11, 2014, clash at 16th and Chancellor streets.

Michael Barry, chief of the district attorney’s central division bureau, said Thursday that there have been ongoing negotiations with the defense attorneys. He said he expects the three defendants to enter guilty pleas on Oct. 15, when the case is next listed in the Criminal Justice Center.

Barry, though, would not comment on the details of the plea offers or what charges he expects the defendants may plead guilty to. He said there is not yet any plea agreement in place.

Barry said that on Oct. 15, “either the defendants will plead guilty” or their case will be “spun out for trial.”

“I do expect them to plead guilty,” he said.

He said one main reason the three defendants have not been in court each time for pretrial conferences was because “as part of their bail, they are banned from Center City.”

Williams’ attorney, Fortunato “Fred” Perri Jr., confirmed afterward that he and his client “are currently reviewing a plea offer that’s been extended by the District Attorney’s Office.”

Asked if he expects Williams to plead guilty on Oct. 15, Perri said: “No decisions have been made yet.” But he added, “We think it’s a fair offer.”

Harrigan’s attorney, Joshua Scarpello, also confirmed that there have been plea negotiations.

“We’re trying to work it out,” he said. The terms of a possible plea are “not yet set in stone.”

He also said of the three defendants: “They have not been offered the same deal.” Each defense attorney, he said, is “trying to do the best for his client.”

Mat Staver: A Host Of THE VIEW Called For Kim Davis To Be Murdered

Anti-gay Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver, who has been representing Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis, asserted in a recent appearance on the “Faith and Freedom” radio show that a host of the ABC show THE VIEW called for someone “to go kill her.”

“I would encourage you to pray for Kim Davis, pray for her family, pray for those that work with her, pray for Liberty Counsel,” Staver said. “Kim has received just horrible death threats, even from ‘The View,’ amazingly. They called her a monster on national television, one of them said that someone ought to go kill her. This is on a major network. That was on ‘The View’ on ABC. I mean, that was astounding, that kind of language was happening on a major TV network.”

While the “monster” label was used on THE VIEW, no one can seem to find any instance of anyone on THE VIEW calling for Davis’ murder.

Lawsuit anyone?

Anti-Gay Street Preachers Descend On New Orleans To Disrupt Southern Decadence

File this under the category of “Christian kindness” – Anti-gay preacher Ruben Israel and his klan showed up in New Orleans last weekend to irritate, interrupt and disrupt the annual Southern Decadence event.

Clip recap:

“This Mini Documentary was filmed in New Orleans La. at the Southern Decadence Homo Fest.

“The LGBT Community is a Depraved and Perverted Community that Must be Resisted and Destroyed

“Ruben Israel exposes the true condition of the LGBT community.”

Among the assorted taunts shouted at the SD attendees, “You are evil.” “You are sin.” “You hate God.” “You sold your country for the Devil.” “You sold your country for entertainment.”

And, well, you get the picture.

Now, where are all these folks during Mardi Gras when the party is five times bigger?

Oh, yeah. That’s a heterosexual kinda thing. Mardi Gras gets a pass.

Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis Loses AGAIN In Court

At this point, we’ve already passed the “Get The Hint” phase of Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis’ long list of losses in court in her attempt to discriminate against gay and lesbian couples looking to apply for a marriage license.

Yet again, a federal appeals court denied her motion asking that she be exempted from having her name on icky gay marriage licenses.

From Talking Points Memo:

Davis is suing Kentucky Gov. Steven Beshear (D) and state librarian Wayne Onkst for enforcing a requirement that Kentucky clerks grant same-sex marriage licenses, which she objects to on religious grounds. She had ask the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals to temporarily halt the requirement while the lawsuit proceeds.

“Davis has not demonstrated a substantial likelihood of success on her federal constitutional claims,” the panel of judges said in their order denying the request.

Read the full order below (as we imagine sad trombone sounds in the distance);

Rogue County Clerk Kim Davis Divides GOP Presidential Candidates

CNN discussed this afternoon that the Kentucky County Clerk, Kim Davis, has divided the current crop of GOP White House hopefuls on whether or not she is correct in denying loving couples a marriage license.

As JoeMyGod notes, there’s not way this won’t come up at the 2nd Republican debates this Wednesday.

Tony Perkins Lying On Fox News: Kim Davis Isn’t Forcing Her Beliefs On Anyone

Here’s hate group leader Tony Perkins lying again on Fox News.

Perkins continues to spin the tale of Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis who refuses to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples due to anti-gay animus.

Perkins tries to say Davis is not “forcing her beliefs on anyone,” but the fact is she won’t do the job she was elected to do and issue marriage licenses to gays.

Perkins alludes to her “deep religious beliefs” but Davis has no problem issuing marriage licenses to divorced folks – which is clearly a sin in the Bible. You have to wonder why is it only the gay sin that offends her?

Of course, Perkins is hawking his new book here, which the host says “points out a lot of (pause) ‘interesting’ stories.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Planting Peace Plants Billboard In Kim Davis’ Hometown

Planting Peace, the folks behind the Equality House, the rainbow-colored house which is located directly across the street from the Westboro Baptist Church from across the street in Topeka, Kansas, has erected a billboard to greet Ms. Kim Davis with some biblical truth.

The billboard reads, “Dear Kim Davis, The fact that you can’t sell your daughter for three goats and a cow means we’ve already redefined marriage.”

From Planting Peace’s website:

Following the June 26th Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality, Rowan County clerk Kim Davis refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses in her home state, citing that doing so compromised her religious beliefs. That day, she became the poster child for the anti-gay movement.

As has been painstakingly observed time and time again, the anti-LGBTQ movement is comprised of a substantial number of zealots who unfailingly refer to their rigid interpretation of religious text to narrowly define “traditional” institutions and values. They pick and choose what they wish to convey as immoral and unacceptable, while seemingly sweeping lines of scripture just a few letters away completely under the rug.

In response, Planting Peace has constructed a message for Kim Davis and the anti-LGBTQ movement. The intent of the billboard is to expose this narrow interpretation by Davis and others that they use to defend their discrimination against the LGBTQ community. It is important and relevant to call this out, because these messages and actions are not simply about a political or religious debate. There are LGBTQ youth across the world who are taking their lives at an alarming rate because of these messages from society that make them feel broken or less than. We have to meet hate with love…intolerance with compassion.

Our message to our LGBTQ youth is simple:
You are loved, valued, supported, and beautiful.
There is nothing wrong with you, and we will stand by you.
You are not alone.

Kentucky Gov. Beshear Says Kim Davis’ Conflict Is “Between Her And The Courts”

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear

Rogue County Clerk Kim Davis continues to cool her heels in the hoosegow in Rowan County as her lawyers file an motion to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals appealing her contempt of court charges.

Her lawyers have also asked Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear to “exempt” her from having to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples until the state legislature can convene in January and perhaps pass legislation removing the names of county clerks from marriage licenses.

Beshear’s answer was to say he has no intention of responding to the request saying the conflict was a “matter between her and the courts.”

Most legal analysts say Davis’ team has little to no chance of receiving any kind of respite from the 6th Circuit.

In other “Kim Davis” news – the much anticipated crowd-sourcing campaign to raise money for Davis was launched over the holiday weekend, but so far it hasn’t grown into the vast windfall other anti-gay folks have seen. At this writing the fund has raised less than $6,000.

I guess Davis will have to look to a book deal to make her martyr millions.

Matt Baume: Here Come The Kim Davis Clones

LGBT activist Matt Baume explains how a bill currently in Congress could end up creating tons of Kim Davis clones across the county, with the legal ability to discriminate against LGBTs.

Imagine if there was a whole army of Kim Davises turning away same-sex couples at every level of government, and there was no way to make them to obey the law.

That’s just what Congress is considering: a bill that would create unlimited Kim Davis copycats across the entire country.

Not only would it let anyone refuse to recognize same-sex couples, but it would also affect straight couples who have sex outside of marriage. Nuts!
