County Clerk Kim Davis: “If I Left I Would Have No Voice For God’s Word”

Before heading into court this morning, anti-gay Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis gave an “exclusive” interview with extreme right-wing Fox News reporter Todd Starnes.

Here’s just a bit of what Ms. Davis had to say:

“I’ve weighed the cost and I’m prepared to go to jail, I sure am.”

“This has never been a gay or lesbian issue for me. This is about upholding the word of God.”

“This is a heaven or hell issue for me and for every other Christian that believes. This is a fight worth fighting.”

“I would have to either make a decision to stand or I would have to buckle down and leave. And if I left, resigned or chose to retire, I would have no voice for God’s word.”

“I’m very steadfast in what I believe. I don’t leave my conscience and my Christian soul out in my vehicle and come in here and pretend to be something I’m not. It’s easy to talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?”

Hate Group Leader: Obama Is Setting Up A Way For Courts To Legalize Prostitution

Bryan Fischer

Hate group leader Bryan Fischer hypothesizes (in his cyncial, bizarro world logic) that the real reason for the raid on the corporate offices of Rentboy is to set up a complex set of events that would lead to President Obama fighting for legalizing prostitution.

So the question naturally is why. Why would Obama suddenly bring the hammer down on homosexual prostitution?

Maybe, in the wake of the Ashley Madison hack, he wants to get all the client information from this website in federal custody to protect the identities of his political and social friends who may be customers.

Or Obama believes, with homosexuality being the flavor of the year in the world of sexual abnormality, this is the moment to haul homosexual prostitutes into court and get some federal judge somewhere to rule that prostitution cannot be made illegal under the United States Constitution.

With no prayer of getting a bill legalizing prostitution through Congress, his best hope is the court system.

And his best chance to get the favorable ruling he wants, given the current cultural zeitgeist, is if the defendants in courts are homosexual prostitutes rather than heterosexual ones. What politically correct judge today would dare to rule against the sin of sodomy anywhere at anytime?

In other words, Obama is pursuing this action not because he wants to punish homosexual prostitutes but because he wants the Supreme Court to exonerate them.

Obama knows that this action will be challenged in court, and that when the appeal makes it to the Supreme Court, he can count on the Court’s five homosexual activists to rule that laws against money for sex are antiquated, outmoded, and so 18th century.

And poof, the last vestige of moral standards with regard to adult sexuality will be gone.

In other words, Bryan Fischer has now completely lost his mind.

Anti-Gay Kentucky County Clerk Kim Davis Loses At 6th Circuit Court Of Appeals

Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis (R)

Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis lost today at the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in her request for a stay regarding a lower court’s ruling which compels her to issue marriage licenses to her constituents.

The lower court issued a temporary stay on it’s ruling to give Davis time to request the stay at the Sixth. That temporary ruling is set to expire on August 31st.

There is virtually no chance that SCOTUS will even take the request, let alone grant it.

See the full ruling here.

“The injunction operates not against Davis personally, but against the holder of her office of Rowan County Clerk.

“In light of the binding holding of Obergefell, it cannot be defensibly argued that the holder of the Rowan County Clerk’s office, apart from who personally occupies that office, may decline to act in conformity with the United States Constitution as interpreted by a dispositive holding of the United States Supreme Court.

“There is thus little or no likelihood that the Clerk in her official capacity will prevail on appeal.”

The day after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, Davis stopped issuing marriage licenses in her county. No one, straight or gay, can obtain a marriage license in her county today.

Davis refuses to issue marriage licenses to gay or lesbian couples based on her ‘deeply held religious beliefs.’

It should be noted that her ‘religious beliefs’ don’t seem to affect her ability to marry and divorce. Davis is currently on her 4th marriage.

Yeah, she’s really worried about the “sanctity of marriage.”

Maine: National Organization For Marriage Finally Files Donor List With Total Of Six Names

NOM president Brian Brown

After a five year legal battle, and paying a record $50,000 fine, the anti-gay National Organization for Marriage has finally handed over it’s donor list as ordered by the courts to the Maine Ethics Commission.

In 2009, the organization funneled over $2 million to the anti-gay Stand for Marriage Maine political action committee, which supported a referendum to overturn a same-sex marriage law passed by the state legislature and signed into law by Gov. Baldacci.

A later referendum in 2012 reinstated marriage equality.

NOM has tried to by-pass state campaign finance laws regarding the 2009 campaign, and has refused to file their donor list.

Until now. Having run out of options to avoid the inevitable, NOM has given up.

From the Bangor Daily News:

The donor list includes a mix of in- and out-of-state donors who gave NOM between $50,000 and $750,000 in individual donations. The largest donor was Sean Fieler of New York City, who is the president of Chiaroscuro Foundation and gave a total of $1.25 million.

The only donor listed from Maine was Richard Kurtz of Cape Elizabeth, who gave $50,000. There are only six names on the list, plus about $5,300 of “unitemized contributions.”

That’s quite the “national” organization, huh? Only SIX donors.

And only one from Maine.

Gee, Brian Brown, I can’t imagine why there were all those calls of “out of state interference.”

Oregon: Homophobic Bakers Send Cakes And Anti-Gay Movie Packages To LGBT Groups

Melissa and Aaron Klein, the former owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, stepped back into the spotlight this week when they sent what appeared to be “apology” packages to 10 LGBT groups comprised of a cake with the message “We Really Do Love You!” and a copy of the anti-gay movie Audacity.

You’ll recall the Kleins refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex wedding and ended up being fined $135K for violating Oregon’s public accommodation laws. They eventually closed their bakery when the story became public and sales dried up.

However, the incident became a windfall for the couple as anti-gay supporters raised over $350K in donations for the couple via crowd funding.

Melissa Klein gave this statement to the Oregonian about the “apology” packages:

“Our purpose is to express our love for them as a Christian.

“We don’t hate them. We also included in the package the movie Audacity. I feel it is a well done movie that shows what being a Christian is about. My hope is that they will watch it and maybe just understand our heart. We want to show them that it’s not about not serving them it’s about not being able to partake in an event.”

The idea for the “apology” packages apparently came from San Diego Gay and Lesbian News reports televangelist Ray Comfort, who produced Audacity.

According to Comfort, “We are like doctors with a cure for cancer.”

San Diego’s Canvass for a Cause was one of ten LGBT organizations to receive a cake, but the group decided to place the package on auction via eBay.

“This is not an ’I am sorry cake,’” says Cavass director Cathy Carmack. “There is no apology included with the cake because the Kleins are not sorry. ”

Dan Savage: Josh Duggar’s Hypocritical Past Makes Him Legitimate Target For Outing

Josh Duggar

LGBT activist and sex columnist Dan Savage says that newly outed porn addict Josh Duggar is definitely a legitimate target for outing considering the harm he’s caused through his anti-gay campaigns.

Outing someone for their private sexual conduct—even if everyone agrees that it’s wrong—is a brutal tactic that should be reserved for brutes. Who’s a legitimate target for outing? I’ll let Barney Frank explain: “There’s a right to privacy,” Frank said on Real Time. “But the right to privacy should not be a right to hypocrisy. People who want to demonize other people shouldn’t then be able to go home and close the door, and do it themselves.”

To which I would add: People who accuse others of trying to destroy their marriages, fundamentalists who who quite literally demonize other people, and who then go back to their apartments in Washington, DC, and cheat on their spouses are political hypocrites and legitimate targets for outing. People like this guy…

Savage also joined Chris Hayes last night to discuss the recent Duggar developments.

Josh Duggar Admits To Hypocrisy And “Double Life”

Josh Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting fame

In the aftermath of yesterday’s reports that Josh Duggar, of 19 Kids and Counting fame, had two accounts on the “cheaters” dating website Ashley Madison, he has posted an “apology” of sorts.

In the post, Duggar admits that he is a HUGE hypocrite (he actually uses the word “biggest”) for his accusations and attacks of moral outrage over other’s behaviors while he has lived a “double life.”

Posted to the Duggar family website:

I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.

I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.

I brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions that happened when I was 14-15 years old, and now I have re-broken their trust.

The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failings.

As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose to our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example.

I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for my precious wife Anna and our family during this time.

Josh Duggar

Duggar and his entire family have spent years attacking and working against the rights of LGBT folks.

Specifically, Josh was executive director of the anti-gay hate group Family Research Council’s lobbying arm for two years. That came to an end this past May, in the wake of a molestation scandal in which he admitted to sexually abusing two of his younger sisters as a teenager.

As I always say, “Ye who protesteth the loudest, do it the mosteth!”

Texas Values’ Jonathan Saenz Throws Temper Tantrum Over Hood County Clerk’s Costly Mistake

Jonathan Saenz

Texas Values head Jonathan Saenz throws a temper tantrum via press release over the news that Hood County Clerk Katie Lang cost the folks of her county $44,000 in legal fees when she denied a gay couple a marriage license upon SCOTUS’ historic ruling in June.

“We salute Katie Lang for holding her ground and for showing how this issue works in law; an employee asserts their First Amendment religious freedom rights and the government must seek to reasonably accommodate those beliefs, as was the case here when Lang delegated her role to another employee.

“This frivolous lawsuit is about intimidation and money for the LGBT machine. The same-sex ‘marriage’ license in this case was issued less than an hour after the marriage application was submitted. Claims of 150 hours of legal time are ridiculous.

“Hood County attorney Lori Kaspar essentially caved in to the extortion efforts of the LGBT machine. If she was unable to stand up to the LGBT machine and reject their demands for money, she should have had other attorneys get involved in the case.

“It is our understanding that the personal lawyers for Katie Lang, Liberty Institute, were not a part of the deal-making agreement with the LGBT lawyers.

“The people of Hood County should be outraged that their county attorney gave away thousands of dollars on a case that was essentially over before it started.”

Saenz says the marriage license was issued “less than an hour” after the application was submitted. He’s rewriting history there.

Point of fact – the marriage license was applied for on June 29th, and the license was not issued until July 6th. And it was only issued after the law suit was filed.

Kentucky: Anti-Gay County Clerk Gets Time To Appeal Ruling On Marriage Licenses

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis (R)

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, who refuses to issue same-sex couples a marriage license, will not have to issue marriage licenses while she takes her case to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Last week, U.S. District Judge David Bunning ordered Davis to issue the licenses despite her objections.

On Monday, Bunning denied Davis’ request for a stay on his ruling, but he did issue on stay on his decision not to stay. Make sense?

Davis has refused to grant marriage license to anyone in Rowan County since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.

Here’s the ruling from Judge Bunning today.

Video: Kentucky Gay Couple Denied Marriage License As County Clerk Defies Court Order

This is very heartbreaking to me.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled same-sex marriage is the law of the land in this country.

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis of Kentucky refused to issue licenses.

This couple went to court, won, and still Davis will not allow her office to issue anyone a marriage license because it offends her “deeply held religious beliefs.”

From The Gaily Grind:

The couple, James Yates and William Smith Jr., joined three other couples (two of which are straight) in suing Kim Davis after she stopped issuing all marriage licenses after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide earlier this year.

Davis claims her religious beliefs will be violated if she issues same-sex couples marriage licenses.

In Thursday’s ruling, U.S. District Judge David Bunning wrote that Davis “is refusing to recognize the legal force of U.S. Supreme Court jurisprudence in performing her duties” and her “religious convictions cannot excuse her from performing the duties that she took an oath to perform as Rowan County Clerk.”

As the couple mention in the video, although the county clerk’s lawyers are appealing the ruling by Judge Bunning, there is no stay on the ruling making it law until some court of authority issues a stay.

This is a losing battle for Davis and her office. It will give me great pleasure to watch video of the members of that office HAVE to issue this marriage license in the near future.

Watch below as Yates and Smith try for a second time, and are denied again, a marriage license.
