New Behaviors Living In The Age Of Social Media

In this new, ever-changing world of social media we have new behaviors to adopt.

The tweet above comes from the account “Dave Old Vietnam Veteran.”

He described himself as a disabled Vietnam Vet – “Agent Orange Got me 1967/68, Retired International Telecom Consultant Married to HS sweetheart for 53 years. I have guns & hate the NRA.”

As the tweet makes self-evident, Dave suffered a fatal heart attack last night.

“This is Dave’s wife. Yesterday evening Dave had a massive heart attack and did not survive. I am so sorry to have to tell you this. This will be his final tweet. He appreciated you, keep up the good fight.”

His widow felt it important to share the news with his thousands of followers on Twitter because clearly Dave made an impact. Dave apparently raised what social media voice he had to call out Donald Trump and his administration.

Something was done. Something occurred.

I never knew Dave, but seeing this message resonated with me.

People we’ve never met but may have interacted with hundreds of times on social media become a real thread in the tapestry of our lives.

RIP Dave.

Frank Stallone’s Twitter Douchery In Three Acts

ACT ONE: Our story begins when Frank Stallone, that’s the shorter/poorer/less attractive brother to Sly Stallone, decided to attack Parkland high school students David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez.

Why Frank decided to crawl out from under the rock he’s been hiding under for years, who knows? But, whatever….

ACT TWO: Little Stallone even tried to play the Rambo card tweeting “I’ve faced gunfire too, people!”

But one Twitterer, The Hoarse Whisperer, called Stallone out on “facing gunfire” having found the news report that that “incident” was really just a nick on his finger when a gun accidentally went off in a gun store years ago.

Apparently, “L’il Rambo” blocked The Hoarse Whisperer and then took his whole Twitter account private.

Kinda like a bully taking his toys and going home.

ACT THREE: He reappeared this morning with the apology below.

Trump Twitter Rant: Sunday Edition

Clearly, whatever the kids over at Fox News were chatting on this morning really put the screws to Donald Trump as he vented vociferously about fired FBI officials Andrew McCabe and James Comey on  Twitter.

First, Trump accused Comey of lying under oath to a Senate committee writing, “Wow, watch Comey lie under oath to Senator G when asked “have you ever been an anonymous source…or known someone else to be an anonymous source…?” He said strongly “never, no.” He lied as shown clearly on @foxandfriends.”

Then The Donald went after Andrew McCabe after reports that McCabe, like Comey, kept contemporaneous notes after every meeting with Trump.

See, that’s what FBI agents are trained to do so they can recall details more clearly should they need to in the future. But, alas, Trump doesn’t really grasp the concept of taking notes or being detail oriented.

Trump finally lied to his followers saying Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team is full of Democrats out to get him: “Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans? Another Dem recently added…does anyone think this is fair? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!”

Folks were quick to point out that Mueller is a longtime Republican. He was nominated by President George W. Bush for FBI director in 2001, and was appointed special counsel by Trump’s own pick to be deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, who is also a Republican.

Of Mueller’s investigation team, seven of the 17 lawyers brought on by Mueller have donated to Democratic political candidates. But, you know, facts…

Conservative Extremists Whine Over Russian Bot Purge #TwitterLockOut

Conservative Twitter users are crying foul as overnight Twitter seems to have done a purge of thousands of accounts that might have been deemed “bots” or fake automated accounts.

Such accounts were mentioned in the recent indictment against 13 Russian actors by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

While Twitter has made no announcement as to the nature of the “purge,” far-right conservatives are calling the action the work of “communists” and “fascists.”

I’ll be curious to see what Twitter has to say when they finally come forward with some explanation.

As with all tragedies, I want to make sure I send my “thoughts and prayers” to those affected. I’m sure that will make it all better 😉

Out U.S. Winter Olympian Gus Kenworthy has little patience for online trolls.

As Kenworthy celebrated his now-famous Olympic kiss with bf Matthew Wilkas, a Twitter user (with the same name as a Trump lawyer) chimed in with an ugly comment.

The troll asked: “Question is, if men marry men and women marry women who will produce children in this world”

Kenworthy destroyed the hater with three simple words:

“Hopefully not you.”

Hillary Clinton Makes Cameo Appearance At Grammys, Triggered Conservatives Heads Explode

In a skit during last night’s Grammy Awards, several celebrities “auditioned” to the be the narrator’s voice for an upcoming audio book version of Michael Wolff’s explosive #1 best-seller, Fire and Fury: Inside The Trump White House.

Cher, John Legend and Snoop Dogg were among the hopefuls, but it was a cameo by Hillary Clinton that triggered a lot of snowflake conservatives.

“One reason why he liked to eat at McDonald’s,” Clinton reads from the book, “nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely premade.”

And the crowd goes wild…

Some news items you might have missed:

• Shoutout/woof to total thirst trap Joss Mooney who recently joined MTV’s The Challenge. The former Ex on the Beach star and online trainer is giving you his best moody-muscle gaze via Instagram.    #Dang

• Twitter says they don’t want to block the tweets of world leaders (we’re looking at you, Donald Trump) because “people should be able to see and debate” important information those leaders may share.

• A transgender cab driver in the UK, who was snubbed by her kids when she came out, will not be sharing her $5.4 million lottery winnings with the hideous offspring.

• The groundbreaking Freeform (formerly ABC Family) series The Fosters will come to an end this Spring. The series, about a lesbian couple raising their adopted and biological children, will see the beginning of the end when the current season picks up January 9.

• Washington state has added a third gender option – “X” – to birth certificates. Additionally, the state has streamlined the process of updating gender identity on state-issued documents.

• Colorado prison guards “smiled” as a gay prisoner begged not to be housed with a rapist. Over the course of three days, the 21-year-old was repeatedly raped and beaten. He has filed suit against the federal government.

• Check out the new music video for “Mystery of Love” by Sufjan Stevens from the soundtrack for the acclaimed feature film, Call Me By Your Name, featuring footage from the film.

Trump Twitter Rant: Fake News Is Lying About GOP Tax Scam

Desperate to enjoy the passage of the GOP Tax Scam, Donald Trump lashed out at critics (for a change) in today’s Trump Twitter rant:

The United States Senate just passed the biggest in history Tax Cut and Reform Bill. Terrible Individual Mandate (ObamaCare)Repealed. Goes to the House tomorrow morning for final vote. If approved, there will be a News Conference at The White House at approximately 1:00 P.M.

The Tax Cuts are so large and so meaningful, and yet the Fake News is working overtime to follow the lead of their friends, the defeated Dems, and only demean. This is truly a case where the results will speak for themselves, starting very soon. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!

I’d like to remind you that during the George W. Bush years, there were two massive “tax cuts” that eventually led to the biggest recessions the country has seen since the Great Depression.

Many CEOs are already speaking out saying they have no intention of raising wages or hiring more middle-class employees with the expected funds from these tax cuts.

Donald Trump Retweets Fascist, Far-Right UK Hate Group

Donald Trump throws another curve ball

Earlier today, Donald Trump retweeted three anti-Islamic videos posted by Jayda Fransen, a leader of Britain First. The group is so heinous they are banned from mosques in England and Wales.

Fransen was convicted of religiously aggravated harassment in November 2016 after abusing a woman wearing a hijab.

In addition to “amplifying” the voice of a fascist group, the videos Trump retweeted have been called into question as to the veracity of the content.

One of the videos, showing a “Muslim migrant” assailant beating the Dutch boy is in fact neither a migrant or a Muslim.

So, you understand what a bone-headed move this was, yes?

Folks in the UK were so upset the office of Prime Minister Theresa May issued a statement saying Trump was “wrong” to retweet material from a group that promotes “hateful narratives.”

“British people overwhelmingly reject the prejudiced rhetoric of the far-right which is the antithesis of the values that this country represents: decency tolerance and respect,” said the statement.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told the media it didn’t matter if the videos he retweeted were real or not.

“Whether it’s a real video, the threat is real and that is what the president is talking about,” Sanders told reporters.

Folks in the Twitterverse were duly confounded:

• Even though the Trump administration slashed the communications budget for Obamacare registration season, signups are hitting record levels compared to this time last year.

• Ariana and the Rose drops her latest single, “For Your Love.” Vogue calls her “a rising star with a strong aesthetic.” Billboard describes her music as “lyrically sincere, sonically enveloping synth-pop.” Listen below.
