The White House trumps tweet by Speaker Boehner

John Boehner, Speaker of the House, thought he would play along today with a current, popular hashtag on Twitter among the Tea people #ObamaCareInThreeWords as the House GOP tried for the 37th time to repeal the healthcare reform legislation:

Then, the White House decided to play along.  FTW:

To which the Speaker then tweeted:

It’s hardly “arrogance of power” for the White House to point out the obvious – that “ObamaCare” IS the law of the land.

Time to stop wasting the people’s time, Mr. Speaker. Time to get something done that actually accomplishes something.

The country is waiting.

Interactive map: The Geography of Hate

A new site, Geography of Hate, takes a look at hateful tweets and where they come from, charting them based on homophobia, racism, and disability.

The above map is a graphic representation of the combined tweets using “Dyke”, “Fag”, “Homo”, and “Queer”. The reds represent greater intensity.

Mitt Romney – buying Twitter followers?

Check out this graph of Twitter followers for Mitt Romney and President Obama.

President Obama has been averaging a steady 16,000 – 30,000 new followers a day.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has been averaging about 1,000 – 6,000 new followers a day.  Until now.  Take a look at the graph.  Out of nowhere, Mitt Romney gained over 100,000 new followers in one day.  Nothing in his past history  shows anything like this.

I know for a fact it is possible to “buy” new Twitter followers to improve how interesting you look to the Twitter universe.  Could that be the story here?
