Nick Jonas To Headline Pittsburgh Pride After Iggy Azalea Drops Out Days From Event

Exit the hater; enter the hunk.

Rapper Iggy Azalea dropped out yesterday as the headliner for Pittsburgh Pride in the Street over mounting criticism regarding racist and homophobic tweets published years ago before she was famous.

It looked like Pittsburgh Pride was in a tight spot, but LGBT ally, hunky KINGDOM star, and current “It” guy Nick Jonas rides in to the rescue.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports:

“Nick had heard about Pittsburgh Pride in the media and called us on Tuesday and said he would like to come and perform,” said Gary Van Horn, president of presenting nonprofit Delta Foundation of

Pittsburgh, in a statement. “He has been a supporter of the LGBT community, and he wanted to make sure that the community and Pittsburgh had a Pride event that they could be proud of.”

“When I heard about the difficult position Pittsburgh Pride was in just days before their event, I knew I had to find a way to help,” said Mr. Jonas.

“I’m excited to do what I can to support the LGBT community in Pittsburgh, and I look forward to seeing you this Saturday as we celebrate together.”

Nick Jonas Says He’ll Be Back For Season 2 of KINGDOM

Nick Jonas recently told DigitalSpy that he WILL return to his role of martial arts fighter “Nate Kulina” in the second season of Kingdom.

The Direct TV series, picked up for a 20 episode season 2, will air 10 episodes this fall, then the second 10 in 2016.

The season finale of the first season revealed his character to be gay.

“We just started filming a week and a half ago, which is why I’ve shaved my head.”

“I do know where it’s going but I can’t say because it’s going to be a big reveal and surprise.”

“It’s great writing, really honest and personal, and I’m just excited for people to see it and be able to tell the story in the way we’re telling it.”

Jonas looks to have a busy year ahead of him as he tours to promote his new self-titled album as well as star in the upcoming Ryan Murphy series Scream Queens.

Zachary Quinto Has No Problem With Straight Stars “Queerbaiting”

In a HuffPost Live interview on Thursday, actor Zachary Quinto sounded off on the likes of male stars like James Franco and Nick Jonas, who have been criticized for “queerbaiting” their gay fans, claiming he doesn’t have an issue with the phenomenon.

Quinto: “These guys who are, in many ways, considered very conventionally desirable, attractive leading men… lending themselves to these kinds of stories is a valuable thing for our culture.”

I personally agree with Quinto. The fact that high-level, mainstream male stars are so open to acknowledging their gay fan base doesn’t offend me at all. And it sets a tone of acceptance that I wish more major celebs would adopt.

The star also opened up about the controversy that ensued when he urged caution over the use of the HIV/AIDS prevention drug Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP.

Quinto: “I certainly like to be a part of conversations in our culture, and I’m not particularly afraid to articulate my position or my opinion on things, and if people don’t agree with it, that’s great. That fact that the backlash initiated a conversation about [PrEP] on some level — an issue that people are really uncomfortable talking about — I feel like that was my contribution.”

Spoiler: Nick Jonas’ KINGDOM Character Is Gay

In the season finale of DirecTV’s new series Kingdom, the character of MMA fighter Nate Kulina (played by the very hunky Nick Jonas) has an epiphany that had been hinted at for months – that “Nate” is gay.

From Buzzfeed:

The reveal may have surprised viewers, but the actor has known about Nate’s sexuality since Day 1. “Byron [Balasco, Kingdom creator] told me before shooting began,” Jonas told BuzzFeed News exclusively during a recent phone interview. “Everyone at Kingdom was really transparent about the character and some of the things the character would go through. And in my prep work, I wanted to be aware so I could properly tell this story.”

“For me, it was important to maintain the stakes for Nate,” the 22-year-old actor and singer continued. “He lives in a world of fear — fear of disappointing his father, both in the cage and outside of the cage — and he carries that pressure with him in so many ways. I think it’s something a lot of people can relate to.”

“I’ve really been trying to make an effort to talk with my gay fan base and find unique opportunities to set up the next chapter of my life and my career with them in it,” said Jonas, who’s recently performed at gay clubs and made headlines with Marky Mark-esque photoshoots. “The attitude I take in the stories I want to share and my personal life and my view is that I think we’re in a time where there’s a new progression. For all people of all walks of life to accept all people … I’d be thrilled if I’m any part of that.”

Kingdom has been picked up for 20 more episodes which will air in two 10-episode seasons beginning again in Spring 2015.

Nick Jonas Leaves His Shirt On For Ellen (and takes off his pants instead)

Stopping by ELLEN to talk on his DirecTV show KINGDOM and his new album, Nick Jonas announced that he’s kind of done taking off his shirt for a while.

So, he took off his pants instead 🙂

Nick has made a point to include his gay fan base lately, telling the Advocate,:

“I don’t know why more heterosexual male artists don’t embrace their gay fan base, because it’s so important. At least, I feel like it’s such an important part of my fan base, so I wanted to make an effort and it was incredible to be around my gay fans and celebrate.”

New Music: Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas’ new self-titled CD is released today.

After a flood of press and media appearances (including shaving his chest on the Ryan Seacrest radio show this morning), Nick gets to sit back and see how his audience takes to the new, grown-up Nick Jonas.

In addition to the usual promotional appearances and interviews, Nick has made a clear effort to include his LGBT audience in this project’s campaign.  More than a few times Nick has been clear that he appreciates his gay audience and is actually confounded as to why other artists don’t embrace the gays as he has.

Check out the first single from the album below. Plus, just a couple of reminders as to why we’ve really decided Nick is our favorite “Jo-Bro.”

Nick Jonas Gets Wet And Wild

Nick Jonas got wet and wild last night in Miami during the 2014 MTV European Music Awards.

According to MTV, “not only did the 22-year-old solo artist nail his “Jealous” performance, but he sealed the deal by ripping off his black jacket to soak up some of the downpour, turning his EMA moment into a one-man wet t-shirt contest.”

Nick Jonas Actually “Kind Of Dreads” Working Out

Shirtless Nick Jonas gives you abs and more abs

In an new interview for Details Magazine, Nick Jonas explains that although he packed on about 15 pounds of muscle in six weeks for his “Kingdom” role on DirecTV, he really doesn’t like working out.

He kind of dreads it, even.

“I hate going to the gym. I think everybody hates cardio to some degree. I’m not the kind of person who wakes up in the morning and can’t wait to work out. I kind of dread it, actually. I see it as a necessary evil.”

So, I don’t feel like such a slug when I look at Nick bulk and beef up. Even he doesn’t like it.
