• San Francisco’s last gay strip club, the iconic Nob Hill Theatre, closes its doors.

• Utah public libraries are banning LGBTQ displays during Pride month due to complaints.

• The LGBTQ community has raised more than $29,000 to help a young transgender girl get the hell out of Bigotsville, OK.

• Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh pushed for some very graphic questions during the Whitewater investigation that led to Bill Clinton’s impeachment.

• Madonna got trolled something bad for attempting to honor Aretha Franklin at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards but ended up talking about herself more than anything. Never before has the word “I” been used so many times in a tribute to someone else. Watch from Billboard News below.

• Paleontologist and athlete Francesc Gascó is pumped for the weekend. #dang

• A record number of LGBTQ candidates are running for public office.

• Fox News host Laura Ingraham got in hot water revealing her racism during an on-air rant saying “massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people” thanks to “both illegal, and in some cases legal, immigration.” Ingraham later recanted saying her message had nothing to do with race or ethnicity.

• The Puerto Rican government has submitted a report to Congress counting the death toll in the wake of Hurricane Maria at over 1,427, much higher than the 64 deaths acknowledged as the current official count.

• Attorney General Jeff Sessions got testy saying the virulently anti-LGBTQ law group Alliance Defending Freedom (representing every anti-gay bigot you can find) isn’t a hate group even though it is.

• Out artist Ryan Beatty drops his latest single, “Powerslide.”

Some news items you might have missed:

• Spanish fitness model Fran Dullon is living this summer out LOUD. #woof

• Aryeh Cohen, a 44-year-old rabbi from St. Louis Park, a suburb of Minneapolis was arrested in a sex trafficking sting earlier this year after chatting and sharing explicit photos with someone claiming to be a 16-year-old boy on Grindr. He was apparently grooming the boy for sex.

• An Indiana judge has ordered a school district in Evansville, Ind., to allow a 17-year-old transgender student to use restrooms that align with his gender identity just days before the beginning of the school year.

• An anti-LGBT group is calling for a boycott of Britney Spears over her support for LGBTQ rights.

• Texas’s Hood County Clerk Katie Lang still won’t issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

• Charlotte Rae, who played the wise and wonderful “Mrs. Garrett” on the long-running sitcoms Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life fame passed away at the age of 92. After a long career on the Great White Way, the two-time Tony Award nominee moved into successful longevity television.

Some news items you might have missed:

• InstaHunk Naor Yazdan starts his week with a serious shoulder workout pump. #yassss

• Instagram came off a tad homophobic for deleting the account for the “Greeks Come True” 2018 calendar. While the calendar itself shows the men in revealing perspective, the Instagram account only shared tasteful photos. Check out some of the photos on the still-active Facebook page.

• This moment between Atlanta Braves players Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuña Jr. caught on camera sharing an affectionate embrace inside the team’s dugout sparked some seriously homophobic social media posts.

• Axios reports that Donald Trump loves to review and relive his performances at rallies and 2016 presidential debates. He apparently considers his quips to Hillary Clinton to be some of the greatest moments “that ever happened in the history of presidential debates.”

•Jerusalem Pride saw record turnout this year (over 30,000) just three years after a violent stabbing incident.

• “Get Together,” a new single by Sir Ivan, is a remix of the classic 1967 Youngbloods song. As Sir Ivan says, “As in the 1960’s, we are undergoing a time of deep divisions in our country. There’s never been a better time to get together.” All net proceeds of “Get Together” will go toward The Peaceman Foundation, which supports LGBT rights. I’ve always liked the tune – check it out below, and find it on iTunes.

• Launched in response to the recent ruling on the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case, Yelp has added a new ‘Open to All’ category/filter which aims to help protect consumers from discrimination.

• Apple, led by openly-gay CEO Tim Cook, has become the first private-sector company to be valued at over $1 trillion. Don’t tell me the gays can’t compete…

• After rescuing the adorable Beemo in South Korea, hottie Gus Kenworthy adopted another rescue from SK:

The day Matt and I visited the horrifying dog meat farm in South Korea we witnessed a mother dog giving birth to a litter of pups. The people at @hsiglobal told us that had they not been there filming my visit nobody would’ve seen the pups immediately and they likely would’ve died in the brutal cold. Luckily though I saw them and they were rushed inside and saved. A few weeks later when all 90 of the dogs on that farm (including Beemo) were flown to North America that mother and her newborn litter were the only ones that stayed behind because the pups were too young to travel. After Beemo passed away I was feeling completely empty and I reached back out to the Humane Society International to find out what happened to that litter. I found out that they were still in Korea and I began getting photo and video updates on them as I waited for another farm closure and an opportunity for them to be brought to the States. That finally happened and four days ago I picked this little girl up in DC. She’s a 5-month-old Jindo/ Lab mix and we named her Birdie (because birds were one of Beemo’s favorite things in the world). Nothing in the world could ever replace Beemo or the love that we felt and still feel for her but Birdie has already stolen a new place in our hearts and we’re excited to be dog dads again. A HUGE thank you goes out to @hsiglobal for bringing our new baby home and for all they do for animals in need around the world (follow them and support their cause). Also an immense amount of gratitude goes to @awlaarlington for taking care of Birdie in DC until I could fly there to pick her up! I am going to continue Beemo’s Instagram with pupdates on Birdie. I was nervous that would seem disrespectful to Beemo’s memory but I actually LOVE the idea that both of my beautiful little girls will share the page. Also, a huge part of the reason I started Beemo’s page in the first place was to continue promoting animal rescue and raise awareness for the dog meat trade and since the page already has a following I thought it’d be more impactful to keep it going rather than start all over again. • Despite assurances from the intelligence community that Russia is continuing to meddle in our elections, U.S. Senators on Wednesday rejected a Democratic proposal by a vote of 50-47 to provide funds to states with more election security funding ahead of the 2018 midterm elections. Sixty votes were needed to include the proposal in the appropriations legislation under Senate rules.

• Former Marine and Army National Guardsmen Brandon Ketchum, 33, committed suicide after being denied admittance to a VA facility in Iowa City, despite telling doctors that he was having “serious mental issues.” Ketchum had been struggling with PTSD and substance abuse after returning home from his three tours overseas.

• And let’s close out this round-up with shining a light on this hideous woman who attempted to call ICE and have a mother deported for breast feeding. I love the woman recording telling the bigot to “Go back to Europe. That’s where you’re from.” #TrumpNation

• Gay men were egged outside a gay bar in Florida.

• The Roseanne spinoff, The Connors, will debut on ABC on October 16.

• Fox News anchor Shep Smith is not having the Trumpster calling journalists “fake news.”
