Las Vegas: Michael does the Stratosphere SkyJump

At the top moments before jumping.  Nice outfit, honey

Last night, as a part of celebrating the birthday of John Easterling – husband to Olivia Newton-John – we headed over to the Stratosphere SkyJump so John, Michael and our friend Rod could experience jumping from the 108 floor level of the hotel. Michael is a bona-fide thrill-seeker and loves this stuff.

(For the record, I stayed on the ground and watched in safety with Olivia. Someone has to survive to take care of the dogs…)

Everyone got an adrenaline rush, either watching or taking part in the jump. And we quickly adjourned to the top of the hotel for the best view in Las Vegas and celebratory cocktails.

You can catch Michael’s “SkyJump journey” below.

If interested, check out the website for SkyJump here.

Las Vegas: Woman throws shoe at Hillary Clinton during speech appearance

The AP is reporting that a woman was taken into custody after throwing what appears to be a shoe at Hillary Clinton as she addressed an Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries meeting in Las Vegas.

After the woman was walked out of the auditorium by security, Hillary joked “My goodness, I didn’t know that solid waste management was so controversial. Thank goodness she didn’t play softball like I did.”

Authorities say the woman would be arrested.

A visit to the amazing world of ABSINTHE

The Gazillionaire and his assistant Penny Pibbets of ABSINTHE pay tribute to Olivia Newton-John

Michael and I paid a visit with Olivia Newton-John to the wild and fabulous “Absinthe” here in Las Vegas last night.

As Olivia is in rehearsals for her upcoming opening of her residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas, she’s spending some of her free evenings exploring other entertainment Las Vegas has to offer. Regular readers of The Randy Report know that my husband, Michael, is Olivia’s publicist, and we’ve been friends with Olivia for something like 18 years now, so now with her long-term engagement we can show her more of Las Vegas than a short weekend run of concerts has allowed up to now.

“Absinthe” is one of our favorite shows and we make a point to take our friends when in town. It’s kind of hard to describe: part circus, part outrageous comedy.  It’s a fun, sexy goulash of laughs and awesome acts.

Performed in the round and in intimate proximity of the world-class artists performing amazing feats of strength, balance, danger and unfathomable flexibility, “Absinthe” is an experience unlike any other.

The New York Times put it like this: “Imagine Cirque du Soleil as channeled through “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and painted by George Grosz. A blend of skill, erotic innuendo and zaniness. The memorable moments make a jaded audience literally gasp.”

I can report that our entire group had the best time. And afterwards, we took a few pictures with the uber-talented cast.

Thanks “Absinthe” for always delivering and never disappointing. Great show!

Just imagine sitting in the front row…

Absolutely amazing balancing act

New music: Matt Goss “I Do”

Las Vegas headliner Matt Goss to have two music releases in 2014

Matt Goss became a household name internationally from his days in the smash pop band, Bros. For the last five years, he’s headlined his own Caesars Palace residency. Now, the Virgin Records artist is on the verge of making his name known stateside.

Las Vegas headliner Matt Goss is getting ready to serve up “modern/old school swing” with two upcoming releases.

February 11th will see the release of his EP featuring the romantic, “I Do.”

The song is described by Matt as the perfect proposal song that is as inclusive as it is romantic. Other tracks include “Mustang,” “Lovely Las Vegas,” and “There’s Nothing Like This,” all of which will appear on Goss’ full-length album, Life You Imagine in the spring of 2014.

As a mature, suave vocalist, Matt’s style and sound has ear-marked him as a modern throwback. In an old-school move, Matt and producer Ron Fair spent two years meticulously recording with a sixteen-piece brass section and thirty-two strings, prompting Billboard Magazine to applaud its “mix of big band swing and contemporary-sounding soul that pays respectful homage to the Rat Pack era.”

“I want my music to sound big. I’m inspired by Queen and Sinatra, Elvis and Bowie because there was never anything understated about their music,” says Matt. “I want to create as much energy, glamour, and drama as I can.”

His weekly Matt Goss Live at Caesars Palace  has been called the “hottest show in Vegas” by the Los Angeles Times and was recently extended through June 2014.  You can also see Goss in the new Vegas-themed Ciroc Vodka campaign with Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Pink closes spectacular “Truth About Love” tour in Las Vegas

Three-time Grammy Award winner and uber-talent Pink closed her incredible “The Truth About Love” tour in Las Vegas last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and I was invited to go!

This is where I get all “fan boy” because I’m a big, big fan of Pink – her music, her passion, her authenticity AND her support for the LGBT community.

I had heard from several friends that this was the BEST concert they had ever seen. And now I know why.

From her first entrance, high above the stage, where she bungie bounced while singing “Raise Your Glass” to the acoustic version of “F**kin Perfect” downstage near the audience, to the amazing aerial sequence for “Sober,” to her “Peter Pan on steriods” finale that had her literally flying over the entire arena and audience – this was an incredible event. That’s all I can call the show because “concert” doesn’t feel like it’s encompasses what happened on the stage (or above it).

Michael and I attended with Olivia Newton-John, who is a big fan of Pink. So we got to say ‘hello’  before the show. It was wild to be in the same room with these two hyper-talented artists.

If you haven’t checked out her latest CD, multi-Grammy-nominated “The Truth About Love,” GO GET IT!

The DVD of this concert was just released two weeks ago.  Check it out on Amazon and watch the show I just got to see.  You’ll be blown away.

Backstage everyone has to have some sort of ID.  This was mine!  Squee!

Backstage before the concert, one fabulous blond says ‘hello’ to another fabulous blond.
And I mean Olivia and Pink, not me 🙂

Ran into an old friend.  The hallways backstage are lined with portraits of the big stars who have played there.  Had to stop and take a pic with Miss Vanessa Williams 🙂

Tickets ready! Heading into the MGM Grand Garden Arena

The production design and staging were fantastic. And those words aren’t enough to express the fabulousity.

Another famous blond, who is a big fan of Pink, was in the house and loving it.
