Taye Diggs Gets Down With His “Dad Self” For Dockers

Cute commercial rap for Dockers by Taye Diggs in advance of his upcoming return to musical theater on Broadway as the next star of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”

Rapping the #DadJam, Taye explains that Dockers suit him because as a dad himself of five year old Walker (with ex Idina Menzel), he needs clothes that make getting dressed on the fly fast.

“Khakis are a good go-to,”, he says. “Or cargo pants, because they have a lot of pockets. Pacifiers and bottles, and diapers, and wet wipes, and crackers, and little toy dinosaurs, and candy for treats for any child that has behaved or when you’re trying to bribe them.”

Continental Airlines Commercial Featuring In-Flight Buffet & Pub

I love 1970s vintage stuff like this. Back when airlines really were upping the game for in-flight comfort.

(Imagine airlines coming at you with “comfort” ads today as more and more leg room disappears…)

Does anyone remember flying with a buffet dining room or “pub?”

Samsung Creates A Special Morning For Hearing Impaired

Samsung teamed up with a hearing impaired man’s sister to give him a special morning 🙂

From PC Magazine:

Sometimes marketing gives us actual nice things and not just the illusion of them. To promote the launch of Samsung’s new video call center for the hearing impaired, Samsung Türkiye and advertising agency Leo Burnett Istanbul spent a month preparing to surprise a young Istanbul resident named Muharrem with an extraordinary morning — and a heartwarming advertisement for the rest of us.

The ad, called “Hearing Hands,” begins with Muharrem and his sister leaving their home for a walk through their neighborhood. Muharrem, who is hearing impaired, is pleasantly surprised when strangers on the street and in shops communicate with him using sign language.

Tiffany & Co Launch TV Ad Featuring Same-Sex Marriage Proposal

Tiffany & Co has launched it’s first ever TV ad which features a same-sex marriage proposal.

Via Business Insider:

The ad, created by Ogilvy New York, features a number of couples building up to asking their significant other “Will You?,” which is the tagline of the campaign.

The TV spot is an extension of the print campaign Tiffany launched last month and features the same real-life male same-sex couple. It marked the first time the company had featured a gay couple in its advertising in its 178-year history.

The social media reaction to last month’s print campaign was extremely positive. AdAge notes that Miley Cyrus even reposted the ad on her Instagram page, thanking the jeweler “for being so badass.” Another ad as part of the campaign also depicted a couple with their child during their wedding as the brand looked to broaden its portrayal of marriage proposals and weddings.

At the time of the print launch a Tiffany spokeswoman explained the thinking behind the push in a statement: “Nowadays, the road to marriage is no longer linear. True love can happen more than once with love stories coming in a variety of forms.”

Commercial: “Save The Bros”

I think this is a real thing.

Clip description:

Our bros are in trouble. Learn how you can help save our beloved Bromo Sapiens from chugging toxic chemical junk found in their favorite food source: protein shakes.

Organic Valley has a solution. It’s called Organic Fuel. Watch this important film and share it with a bro. Get the facts and get involved at http://www.savethebros.com

Because what would we do without bros?

Cancelled Super Bowl Commercial From GoDaddy

In an attempt to riff on the popular Budweiser “lost puppy” commercial, internet website provider GoDaddy came up with this ad that depicts a puppy falling off of a truck and separated from his family.

After surviving treacherous conditions and finding his way home, “Buddy’s” owner rejoices saying “I’m so glad you made it home… because I just sold you on this website I built with GoDaddy.com.”

A Change.org petition of over 40,000 signatures encouraged GoDaddy to pull the ad and go with something else.

From GoDaddy:

At the end of the day, our purpose at GoDaddy is to help small businesses around the world build a successful online presence. We hoped our ad would increase awareness of that cause. However, we underestimated the emotional response. And we heard that loud and clear. The net result? We are pulling the ad from the Super Bowl. You’ll still see us in the Big Game this year, and we hope it makes you laugh. Finally, rest assured, Buddy came to us from a reputable and loving breeder in California. He’s now part of the GoDaddy family as our Chief Companion Officer and he lives permanently with one of our longtime employees.

I found the ad in very poor taste.

Super Bowl Commercial: Carls Jr. “All Natural Burger”

One Million Moms is already protesting this “extremely inappropriate” commercial from Carls Jr. promoting their new “All-Natural Burger.”

Via email:

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, both owned by CKE Restaurants, are at it again by using sex to sell burgers.

Their new ad is extremely inappropriate to air at any time, but especially while families are likely watching. Their “All-Natural” commercial will surely ruin family time once again.

The commercial that will be shown at the Super Bowl features a woman who appears to be naked as she walks through a farmer’s market. This is as close to complete nudity as you can get because she appears to be nude until the end when she is in full view wearing a string bikini top and tiny shorts while eating a hamburger from Carl’s Jr.

TAKE ACTION: Please contact Carl’s Jr. (CKE Restaurants) through our website and ask them to pull their Super Bowl ad immediately! Also encourage them to be more responsible next year if they choose to run ads during the Super Bowl again. If they would like our support, they must no longer air sexually explicit ads.

Trust me – this commercial will NOT ruin any male viewers TV viewing experience. Straight and gay men will love this. Plus, several lesbians I know.  So, no worries One Million Moms.
