Apple announces new iPhone 4S

Among the things announced that sound very cool are: the personal assistant software on the new iPhone “Siri” that through voice commands can send texts, set reminders, dial calls for you and a host of other things; and the iCloud actually looks very useful in that anything you download from iTunes gets sent automatically to all your Apple devices – no more manual syncing. Also, any photos you take with your iPhone get sent to your other Apple items.

Thomas Jane of HBO’s “Hung” talks about early sexual experiences

Thomas Jane, who plays a gigolo on the new HBO series “Hung,” revealed that he used to turn tricks while living as a homeless teen in Los Angeles.

Jane says he was an out-of-work actor, and often performed sexual acts with men to make ends meet.

The actor tells the L.A. Times, “When I was a kid out here in L.A., I was homeless. I didn’t have any money and I was living in my car.”

“I wasn’t averse to going down to Santa Monica Boulevard and letting a guy buy me a sandwich. Know what I mean?”

Jane says, “Being a young artist and broke in Los Angeles, I was exploring my sexual identity,” noting that the experience was productive for him in that it “blew the doors off of my conventional upbringing and thinking and opened up possibilities for me.”

The actor, who has been married twice – most recently to Patricia Arquette – says he doesn’t regret his sexual “experimentation,” stating, “Until you’ve tasted the food, you don’t know whether you’ll like it or not, as my mom always said.”

New York Observer: “Occupy Wall Street” Unaired Fox Footage

Like a lawyer in a courtroom, reporters with a bias should probably know who they are talking to and what they’re going to hear when they interview someone.

This is the footage FOX News didn’t air. I’m guessing because it doesn’t play to their “core audience.”

Plus, the folks they usually interview aren’t usually this articulate about what they believe.

SPIKE TV’s “Blue Mountain State”

Spike network series “Blue Mountain State” began its third season, and they definitely hold up with the title of raunchiest show on TV.

One ep was about the football guys sending out pics of their privates and had a bit of nudity from the male cast. I don’t know if it’s the whole “straight guys think male nudity is funny” thing or they want to grab gay viewer’s attention (or a bit of both), but it’s selling!

Gov. Chris Christie says no to run for President

Proclaiming “Now is not the time,” Gov. Chris Christie announced at a jammed Statehouse news conference today that he would not seek the Republican nomination for president in 2012.

“New Jersey, whether you like it or not, you’re stuck with me,” Christie, 49, teased at the hour-long press conference.

He spoke seriously at first, reading from prepared remarks about how he realized that he wasn’t ready to walk away from the state after only 20 months in office.

“I will not abandon my commitment to New Jersey,” he said. “I will fix a broken New Jersey. I’m proud of the work we’ve done, but I know I’m not nearly done.”

Herman Cain believes sexuality is a choice

Watching things like this, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Joy Behar has it right when she asks why anyone would choose to be gay when the amount of vilification that comes with such a choice is insane.

I’d also like to know if Herman Cain remembers when he “chose” to be heterosexual, IF sexuality is a choice.

If it weren’t for the fact he won’t get the nomination – let alone win the election – he would be dangerous.

For now, he’s just selling his book.

Mike Mullen, Joint Chiefs Chairman, champion of DADT repeal, retires

From LGBTQnation: Last Friday, at a large gathering of U. S. political and military leaders, invited guests, and service members, President Barack Obama acknowledged the services rendered to the nation and its citizens by the outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, whose retirement ceremony marked the end of a distinguished forty-three year career in the U.S. Navy.

Among his remarks, President Obama said: “And today, thanks to Mike’s principled leadership, our military draws its strength from more members of our American family. Soon, women will report for duty on our submarines. And patriotic service members who are gay and lesbian no longer have to lie about who they are to serve the country that they love. History will record that the tipping point toward this progress came when the 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff went before Congress, and told the nation that it was the right thing to do. Mike, your legacy will endure in a military that is stronger, but also in a nation that is more just.”

The Admiral’s unwavering support for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” along with his boss, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, earned him the gratitude of gay and lesbian service members, as well as gay and lesbian civilians who wished to enter the armed services but had been prevented from doing so by the policy.

Under intense questioning from members of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Feb. 2, 2010, Mullen, who indicated that he had known of gay and lesbian service members since his entry into the Navy in 1968, told Senators:

“Mr. Chairman, speaking for myself and myself only, it is my personal belief that allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly would be the right thing to do. No matter how I look at this issue, I cannot escape being troubled by the fact that we have in place a policy which forces young men and women to lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens. For me personally, it comes down to integrity — theirs as individuals and ours as an institution.”

Ironic thoughts from Rick Santorum

Recently, current second-tier GOP candidate Rick Santorum made statements saying families should be strengthened and that comes with marriage.

“We shouldn’t have incentives for people not to be married,” the former Pennsylvania senator continued. Santorum, who remains at the bottom of most national polls, added that he also believes couples choose to cohabitate rather than marry, because it is cheaper.

But, as MSN Money reports: “The reality is that marriage has plenty of legal and financial benefits, including tax benefits. Even before Congress changed tax rules in 2001 to deal with the so-called marriage penalty, more married couples got a tax bonus from being married than paid a tax penalty.”

“We need to strengthen the family. We need to have a president who goes out and talks about the importance of marriage, the importance of fathers being committed to their children, the importance of moral values in this country,” Santorum, author of “It Takes a Family,” said.

He also said he believes increasing marriage will boost the economy. “You don’t talk about the family, you don’t talk about strong marriages and mothers and fathers helping to raise children, you can’t have a strong economy,” Santorum said.

The great irony of Mr. Santorum’s position is he stridently campaigns against gay and lesbian families having the same rights and protections a heterosexual family has. Thereby keeping those couples, many of whom have children, from being the “families” he says he wants to encourage.

Maryland Gov. O’Malley supports marriage equality for 2012

Governor Martin O’Malley is a Marylander for marriage equality.

The Democratic Governor on Monday released a video in which he called for balancing religious freedom with the freedom to marry.

“As a free and diverse people of many different faiths, we choose to be governed under the law by certain fundamental principles, among them, equal protection of the law for every individual and the free exercise of religion without government intervention,” O’Malley says in the video.

“The legislation we plan to introduce in the 2012 legislative session will protect religious freedom and equality of marital rights under the law,” he said.

O’Malley has said he wants marriage equality legislation approved in the Maryland legislature’s 2012 session, and that he would make it a priority of his administration.

The Governor told reporters in July that he would borrow elements of the strategy used by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and marriage equality supporters in the Empire State to sponsor and pass a marriage equality bill in the session that begins in January.

O’Malley’s appearance marks the first advert sponsored by “Marylanders for Marriage Equality,” a coalition of groups working to pass the legislation.
