Trump Twitter Rant – Monday Edition

It was apparently raining in New Jersey this morning where Donald Trump is vacationing at his Bedminster Golf Club for 17 days.

Angry at the downpour for ruining his round of golf, Trump clearly spent time watching CNN which he repeatedly denies.

As one Twitterer notes, Sen. Blumenthal of Connecticut was on CNN this morning just before Trump tweeted an attack on him.

And on it goes…

Happy Monday!

Just a few responses from the Twitterverse:

Politico: Day-To-Day Turmoil In A Twitter-Driven White House

Donald Trump

Politico has an article up describing the turmoil living inside a Twitter-driven White House:

President Donald Trump’s White House and Defense Department lawyers had warned him against the transgender military ban for days. They were concerned about the ramifications of the policy, how military officials would respond and what legal backlash it could cause, two West Wing officials familiar with last month’s discussions said. The lawyers thought there would be plenty of time for more discussions and were analyzing arguments.

Frustrated with being “slow-walked,” in the words of one White House official, the president took to Twitter last week — jarring many in the West Wing out of complacency and startling his lawyers, Defense Department officials and West Wing aides, who learned of the change in a series of tweets.

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military,” Trump began.

The administration had no plan in place, but Trump told others they would have to “get in gear” if he announced the ban first, one White House adviser who spoke to Trump said. He also said the announcement would stop the lawyers from arguing with him anymore. There is still no plan in place, and Defense Department officials have said they won’t implement the ban until guidance is given.

Advisors believed for days that Trump was likely to pick John Pistole as FBI director. Inside the administration, three officials said, there was little initial support for Christopher Wray, the former FBI official who was New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s attorney in the bridge-closing controversy. “No one really was pushing for Wray,” one senior administration official said.

After talking extensively with Christie, who sold Trump on the former FBI official’s bona fides as a lawyer, Trump decided to go with Wray without telling others on staff, advisers said. White House officials waking up to the tweet were startled, and hurriedly wrote a news release to correspond to it. Much of the president’s inner circle knew little about Wray. Trump was simply tired of the search, these people said.

Trump’s Monday Morning Twitter Rant

Donald Trump got off to a raring Monday morning as he took to Twitter (where else?) to attack a number of personal irritants including Hillary Clinton, Rep. Adam Schiff and his own Attorney General, Jeff Sessions.

Of course, the reason Hillary Clinton isn’t being investigated is that there was a year long investigation which found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Plus, she hasn’t held a position in government in over four years whereas the Trumpster is actually the president.

And how about the use of the word “beleaguered?” After attacking Sessions in his NY Times interview last week, and this comment, I think Trump is now trying to get Sessions to resign.

I think it’s rich that a man who boasts about grabbing pussies, and leers at Miss Universe contestants can call Schiff “sleazy.”

Schiff responded with class:

Yesterday, Trump took swipes at his own party for not “protecting” him. How are Republicans supposed to “protect” him?

Tweet Of The Day

Proving there really is a Trump tweet for everything, here’s a classic from 2012:

“Obama’s complaints about Republicans stopping his agenda are BS since he had full control for two years. He can never take responsibility.”

Contrast that with the Trumpster’s tweet today decrying no help from Democrats on the health care bill they were excluded from working on:

#SoMuchWhining

Bonus tweet! How about this nugget from 2013 on “leadership?” So, if health care reform doesn’t happen, he’s gonna take responsibility?

Saturday Morning Trump TwitterFest

Today’s Trump TwitterFest includes more slaps at CNN, NBC, Morning Joe hosts “Crazy Joe” Scarborough and “dumb as a rock Mika” Brzezinski, plus a bonus rant for states refusing to turn over voter ID info to Team Trump.

Can anyone explain how any of this helps our men and women in uniform? Or the working poor? Or solve healthcare?

I also think it’s rich that Trump of all people would complain about someone “refusing to give information…” #WhereAreHisTaxReturns?

Trump Boasts About “Very Powerful” Social Media, Inflates Numbers

President Trump decided to puff himself up a bit this morning by boasting about the number of his social media followers.

“The Fake News Media hates when I use what has turned out to be my very powerful Social Media – over 100 million people! I can go around them.”

Unless he is counting the fake accounts that troll for him, Trump is being less than truthful about his social media followers.

Adding up his followers from his two Twitter accounts (@realDonaldTrump and @potus) and two Facebook accounts, his social media totals about 75 million followers.

Twitter:
realdonaldtrump: 32.4 million
POTUS: 18.8 million

Facebook:
Donald Trump: 22.4 million
POTUS: 1.7 million

Total: about 75.3 million, not 100 million.

Stephen Colbert Trends On Twitter After Trump Rant

Social media going insane over Stephen Colbert’s rant tonight. The hashtag #FireColbert is trending.

Good for Colbert.

I think, given the crass things Donald Trump has said and done, I’m not bothered by it.
