Mrs. Betty Bowers reaches out to Sarah Palin

Betty Bowers, America’s Best Christian, reaches out to Sarah Palin

FTW!  Mrs. Betty Bowers responds to Sarah Palin’s tweet regarding “free speech.”

You’ll recall Martin Bashir resigned from MSNBC for inappropriate comments regarding the former half-term governor of Alaska.  Ms. Palin certainly didn’t defend Bashir’s right to free speech at the time.

Martin Bashir resigns from MSNBC after ill-advised comments regarding Sarah Palin

After weeks of fallout following his ill-advised comments regarding the former half-term governor of Alaska, Martin Bashir has resigned from MSNBC:

“Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the president of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation,” the email read in part. “It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues, at this special network, will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments.”

In a statement, MSNBC president Phil Griffin paid tribute to Bashir:

“Martin Bashir resigned today, effective immediately. I understand his decision and I thank him for three great years with MSNBC. Martin is a good man and respected colleague – we wish him only the best.”

Bashir had been a host on the network since 2011, and had frequently raised eyebrows with his hyperbolic commentary. But his comments in November in response to remarks about slavery by Palin touched off a firestorm. Among other things, Bashir said that someone should defecate and urinate in Palin’s mouth, a punishment delivered to some slaves. He apologized, but the comments continued to haunt him.

I’m no fan of Palin, but the remarks were way past acceptable for any respectability for a journalist. This is an appropriate action that needed to be taken.

Sarah Palin proves once again she lives in an alternate universe

Sarah Palin chats from an alternate universe on the prospects of the GOP after the bruising government shutdown debacle

In an interview on Fox News, the former half-term governor of Alaska shared her very sunny view of the fate of the GOP after dropping to record low approval numbers in light of the recent government shutdown debacle.

Palin joined Megyn Kelly Thursday night, and said that she’s not too worried about Ted Cruz’s efforts being defeated in Congress, saying that the right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than President Obama triumphant, and if they stay united next time, they could pull off an even bigger win.

Palin goes on to say Obama is out of touch and began an odd eye rolling rant against the president on a whole range of issues from Benghazi to “threatening to withhold paychecks” from members of the military during the shutdown.

Kelly pointed out that Republicans haven’t exactly done that well throughout the shutdown, and suggested this strategy has backfired so much that the GOP could lose the House. Palin was far more optimistic, saying, “If we stand united, well, then we won’t lose the House, and we could even win back the Senate.”

And sunshine and lollipops come to all who wish.

Right….

Sarah Palin still writing “crib notes” in the palm of her hand

Sarah Palin's palm reveals her crib notes to herself to be clever when speaking. Apparently, a seven word phrase is hard to remember...

In a throwback to classic Sarah Palin, the Associated Press photographed the former half-term governor of Alaska’s palm with a note to herself as she rallied in New Jersey on Saturday on behalf of Steve Lonegan in the special New Jersey Senate race going on right now:

“We need a leader not a tweeter… That was poem-worthy – I’ve got to remember that one,” she said in her stump speech for candidate Steve Lonegan at the New Egypt Speedway on Saturday.

Lonegan and Booker are running for U.S. Senate in a special election Wednesday to fill the vacancy created by the death of Frank Lautenberg. Palin apparently needed extra help remembering the seven-word rhyme she praised. An AP photographer snapped a picture of the palm of her hand, revealing the words “leader not tweeter” written with a red marker.

Palin made no mention of her own tweeting history and Lonegan’s recently fired strategist who said he had interpreted Booker’s tweets to be a revelation he might be gay. While Booker has 1.4 million followers, Palin has 977,000. Lonegan has 5,200.

In related news, Palin has shared her opinion that the polls are currently lying about Cory Booker’s 12 point lead in the polls.

We shall soon see.  The special election happens Wednesday.

Sarah Palin upset over war memorial closed due to GOP-led government shutdown

Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page to complain erroneously that the President “shut down” the WWII memorial.  Yes, kids, she got it wrong again.

Somehow, the former half-term governor of Alaska has failed to notice that it was the House Republicans who shut down the government.

AND it’s the House Republicans who can choose to reopen the government at any time by putting a “clean” Continuing Resolution up for a vote in the House.

President Obama did not “shut down” any memorial. As a matter of fact, in taking care of our military, he made sure that our men and women in uniform would get paid in advance of what was then a looming shutdown.

Once again, common sense eludes Ms. Palin.

From Ms. Palin’s Facebook page:

“It’s beyond shameful to see Barack Obama disrespect and mistreat our World War II veterans so blatantly.

“Obama’s political stunt to ‘shut down’ their memorial by barricade is to elicit an angry response to generate bad publicity for people the president uses in his continual blame game. The difference is obvious. There aren’t any World War I veterans alive today to mistreat in a shameful political stunt.

“He’s deployed more guards to bar our World War II heroes from their memorial than he sent to Benghazi when our consulate was under attack.

“The President is treating our veterans the same way he treated school kids when he cancelled their White House tours. When times called for obvious government belt-tightening, he took it out on kids rather than look for anything that would affect him personally.

“And while our vets are barricaded from the memorial they built with their heroism, the government ‘slim down’ won’t affect Obama’s golf game or his family’s White House chefs.”

Sarah Palin: I was muzzled by GOP ‘brainiacs’

I’m not so sure how “muzzled” or “censored” the former half-term governor of Alaska was back in the 2008 campaign considering she became famous for “going rogue” back then, with comments about Obama “palling around with terrorists” and more.

And it seems like everything she mentions in this clip she actually DID talk about on the campaign trail.

Sounds like someone is still mad. Five years later…

Sarah Palin “considering” US Senate run

Politico reports that Sarah Palin, former half-term Governor of Alaska, is considering a run for the U.S. Senate in her home state:

“I’ve considered it because people have requested me considering it, but I’m still waiting to see what the lineup will be and hoping that … there will be some new blood, some new energy,” the former governor told Sean Hannity during an appearance on his radio show.

Two Republicans have already announced challenges to Democratic freshman Sen. Mark Begich: Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell and 2010 GOP nominee Joe Miller.

The numbers don’t look great for Palin right now, though.

According to a recent PPP poll, in a hypothetical race, Begich leads Palin by a sizable margin – 54% vs. 38%

Palin’s numbers are a reflection of her continuing to be very unpopular on the home front- 34% of voters see her positively to 59% with a negative opinion.

She, of course, won’t run for three reasons:

She doesn’t want to give up the big paycheck from FOX News.

She doesn’t want to be accountable to folks if she returns to elected office.

She runs and loses – her political “star” is dimmed that much more.

Won’t happen.

Joan Rivers and Bristol Palin to switch places on CELEBRITY WIFE SWAP

Joan Rivers and Bristol Palin to switch places on Celebrity Wife Swap

Get ready for this.

In the June 23rd season premiere episode of Celebrity Wife Swap Joan and Melissa Rivers will switch places with Bristol and Willow Palin according to US Weekly:

Bristol and her son, Tripp, 4, live in Wasilla, Alaska, with Willow. Needless to say, snow in May is a surprise for L.A.-based Melissa and Joan, who arrive to find that Tripp rules the roost. According to ABC’s release, Melissa “finds it a challenge to deal with Tripp’s boyish exuberance.” She thinks he needs more structure and a daily routine.

Meanwhile, at the Rivers’ L.A. home, which doubles as a television production office and the set of three TV shows, every day is scheduled to the minute for Melissa’s son Cooper, 12. The house bustles with cameras and crews, but the family makes sure to always sit down for dinner together. Bristol is surprised by it all, and vows to lighten things up.

I’ve rarely watched the show at all. But yes, I WILL be watching to see what Joan and Melissa inflict on the Bristol Palin household.

My only hope is Mama Sarah “Lipstick Pig” Palin shows up while Joan in on watch…

Big surprise: Sarah Palin mangles “umbrella” metaphor

Let’s see: Three Republicans – Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.  One Democrat – President Obama.

Is Sarah Palin, the former half-term governor of Alaska, as upset that the Republican presidents had someone hold an umbrella for them as she is about President Obama…?

Oh, and speaking of Americans who’ve had someone hold their umbrella for them:

Gee, Sarah – those were the days.  Weren’t they?
