Poll: Trust In U.S. President Soars Under Biden In Global Survey

Trust in the U.S. president fell to historic lows in most countries surveyed during Donald Trump’s presidency, according to Pew.
Under Biden, it has soared. In the 12 countries surveyed both this year and last, a median of 75 percent of respondents expressed confidence in Biden to “do the right thing regarding world affairs,” Pew found, compared with 17 percent for Trump last year. Sixty-two percent of respondents now have a favorable view of the United States vs. 34 percent at the end of Trump’s presidency.
“The election of Joe Biden as president has led to a dramatic shift in America’s international image,” the Pew report reads.
Additionally, the survey shows the favorability rating for the U.S. grew 23 percentage points from last year in France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Survey: 54% Of Republicans Believe Capitol Invasion Was “Led By Left-Wingers To Make Trump Look Bad”
A new survey from Ipsos Polls shows 54% of Republican respondents believe the January 6 invasion of the U.S. Capitol building was “led by violent left-wing protesters trying to make Trump look bad.” I’m guessing those are the same people who believe the COVID-19 pandemic was all staged to “make Trump look bad.” You have to wonder if those conservatives are genuinely delusional or if they just decided to lie to pollsters? More from the poll: • 59% of all respondents feel Donald Trump should not run for president again, only 31% support his running again • 33% feel Trump was not responsible for the Capitol riot while 58% believe he bears some responsibility • 30% of Republicans feel confident that absentee or mail-in ballots were accurately counted, compared to 86% of Democrats and 55% of independents Check out the full results of the survey here.
In a new Ipsos poll, 54% of Republican respondents say the January 6 riot was “led by violent left-wing protesters trying to make Trump look bad.” Only 30% disagreed. 16% said they didn’t know. https://t.co/j3qNCCVX0k

Trump Pardoning Himself Is Very Unpopular With Americans

Two-thirds approve of how Pres.-elect Joe Biden has handled his transition, new @ABC News/WaPo poll finds. That’s 27 points more than said so of Donald Trump four years ago, though it trails other recent presidents. https://t.co/6Nnxu7rAed pic.twitter.com/kJoFHmBRwf

There’s a lot to be said for showing compassion and empathy regardless of whether you agree with all his policies

No shit. He had to deal with #donaldtrumps uncooperative tantrums and his administration standing by his lies. Yes @JoeBiden has handled this well, very well.

Fox News Poll: 42% Say Trump ‘One Of The Worst Presidents’ In History

Biden Continues To Lead In Final Pennsylvania Poll
This is post is to be considered as an encouragement to make sure you get out and vote and not in any way to lead to complacency. We did that four years ago. Don’t do it again. From Pittsburgh’s CBS News affiliate KDKA:
A new Monmouth University poll has former Vice President Joe Biden with a 5-point to 7-point lead over President Donald Trump among likely voters in Pennsylvania.
According to the poll results, Joe Biden leads President Trump by a 51% to 44% margin among likely voters, if vote turnout is high.
In a low turnout scenario, which could happen if a large number of mail-in ballots were to be rejected, Biden leads President Trump by a 50% to 45% margin among likely voters.
The new survey indicates Biden’s support from young voters and people of color is helping to offset Trump’s gains among senior voters and the most competitive counties in the commonwealth. Also – the ongoing pandemic is affecting the election as more voters trust Biden to handle the coronavirus pandemic than Trump.
New Monmouth poll of Pennsylvania: Biden 51% Trump 44% That’s in a high turnout model. In a low turnout scenario it’s: Biden 50% Trump 45%https://t.co/ZmkQ4nzit2

Report: If Polls Are As Wrong Now As They Were In 2016
The Upshot at the New York Times has adjusted its table of what would happen if the polls were as wrong as they were in 2016.
For the past few months, the table reflected the polling error over the final three weeks. Now, the table reflects the error in the final week of polls in 2016.
From The Upshot:
One reason the polls seemed to miss by so much in 2016: Hillary Clinton had a large lead in the polls conducted two to three weeks before the election. The race tightened in the end, after the third debate and the Comey Letter. There was always a chance that would happen this year, and we wanted to represent that possibility.
Why change now? Well, we’re under a week to go. We’re past the point when the polls showed the race tightening in 2016.
We’re past the third debate. We’re past the Comey Letter. We’re past when the ABC/Post poll showed President Trump ahead nationwide or when Times/Siena and Ann Selzer/Bloomberg showed Mr. Trump ahead in Florida.
All of this is not to say Joe Biden is a lock on winning. Far from it. This is just some consideration on what’s going on in polling today. Follow The Upshot for daily updates here. Whatever you do – make sure you vote! And if possible, do it in person or drop off your ballot in person.
News Round-Up: October 22, 2020

• VICE News: Almost 21,000 Election Day polling places have been eliminated heading into the 2020 U.S. election, a drastic dip in voting locations driven by a heavy shift to mail voting, coronavirus-related consolidations, cost-cutting measures, and voter suppression. • Coronavirus: Spain became the first Western European country to exceed 1 million COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, doubling its tally in just six weeks despite a series of increasingly stringent measures to control the second wave of the virus. • Fox News: Donald Trump holds a narrow advantage in Ohio, while voters in the three battleground states that put him over the top in 2016 prefer Joe Biden, according to Fox News polls of likely voters. Biden leads by 12 points in Michigan (52-40 percent), 5 points in Pennsylvania (50-45 percent), and 5 points in Wisconsin (49-44 percent). Trump carried each of these states by less than a percentage point in 2016.
