Some news items you might have missed:

• My buddy Brandon Pereyda, currently one of the stars (and poster boy) for Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity here in Las Vegas, gets in “mid-show workouts” during his already grueling performances. And yes, everything in the pic is real from the mohawk to the body to everything else 🙂

• Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who was removed from office for blocking same-sex marriages in his state, could very well be the next U.S. Senator from the “Yellowhammer” state. And he’s not sure if gays should be executed or not for being who they are.

• Russian politician Vyacheslav Nikonov told Russian TV audiences recently that the United States intel community “missed it when Russian intelligence stole the president of the United States.”

• Is it weird that not only does Donald Trump Jr. face the pictures of his children on his desk AWAY from his view, but he also has a pic of HIMSELF right there in the middle? #hmmm

• More big stars are signing on for guest spots on the upcoming Will & Grace reboot beginning September 28 on NBC. Jane Lynch and Andrew Rannells will guest star together joining previously announced appearances by Ben Platt, Harry Connick, Jr., Minnie Driver and Bobby Cannavale.

• I’m certain that Los Angeles’ 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index helped the “city of angels” book the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics & Paralympics.

• Any day is a good day for some fresh Cher. Like this new spot for GAP which pairs the diva with Future on a new take on Sly and the Family Stone’s “Everyday People.”

• Welcome to a brand new fresh week! Today is just about as fresh and ready for you as, well, this guy (above).

• Former 90210 star Brian Austin Green’s 4-year-old son Noah has been seen out in public occasionally wearing dresses, and Green has no problem with that. “I feel like at 4, at 5, that’s a time when he should be having fun,” the actor continues. “He’s not harming anyone wearing a dress. So if he wants to wear a dress, awesome. Good on him, you know?”

• In just the past week, 3 GOP Congressmen have announced they will not be seeking reelection in 2018. This potentially opens up more possibilities for the Democrats to regain control of the House. Cook Political Report analyst Dave Wasserman moved his rating of one of the races from “likely Republican” to “toss up.”

• InfoWars idiot Alex Jones says Donald Trump behaves erratically because White House insiders are slowly drugging his Diet Cokes. #NoLie

 • A transgender man in New Jersey, who was wrongly accused on shoplifting, is bringing legal action after being forced to show his vagina and prosthetic penis to a female grocery store employee. A security guard apparently mistook the bulge in the man’s pants for stolen goods.

• One of the new characters being written into the upcoming 8 episode reboot of Roseanne will be the 4-year-old “gender-creative” son of “Darlene” played by Sara Gilbert. The young son’s name will be “Mark” who is described as “Sensitive and bright, Mark occasionally likes to wear girls’ clothing.”

• Folks are a little worried “down under” as recent polling shows 58.4% say they would back a “yes” vote on marriage equality, down 6 points from two weeks earlier; support for a “no” vote rose two points to 31.4%. In a world of Brexit votes and Donald Trumps becoming president, folks don’t want to take anything for granted. Make sure your Aussie friends vote!

• I wish I knew who took the pic above, but he sure looks ready for the weekend #woof

• Donald Trump’s top economic adviser, Gary Cohn, may be out of a job very soon. Cohn was once thought to be a potential successor to Fed Chair Janet Yellen, but after he split with Trump over the president’s handling of the Charlottesville debacle sources say Trump now “hates him.”

• Woofy Bobby Cannavale, who won a 2005 Emmy Award for his role as “Vince D’Angelo,” will be returning to Will & Grace in the show’s 16 episode reboot.

• Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon says “people didn’t care” when a 2005 Access Hollywood tape surfaced showing Donald Trump boasting that he could grab women “by the pussy.” I would argue that a LOT of people cared.

 • CBS is planning a “Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special” celebrating the greatest variety show of the ’70s!!! Catch it on December 8 at 8PM on – where else? – CBS!

• Who knew awesomely talented out actress Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) was so good at impressions? Check out her Kathleen Turner, Holly Hunter and Drew Barrymore in this Tonight Show appearance. #Wow

• #FlashBackFriday – Today would have been my dad’s 99th birthday! He lived an awesome life (passed in 2008) and always knew my mother was the love of his life. He was, in the vernacular of the 70s, “studly.” Check him out with my mom as they headed out for a night on the town in the 60s. Happy birthday, Dad! I know you’re dancing on a cloud with mom somewhere.

• The owner of High Times has acquired LGBTQ publications The Advocate, Out, Pride, Plus, and Out Traveler.

• Speaking of The Advocate, the cast of Will & Grace covers the venerable LGBT publication this month:

• Virulently anti-LGBTQ pastor Kevin Swanson announced on his radio program today that the Supreme Court must immediately reverse its Roe v. Wade and Obergefell decisions before the wrath of God is brought upon the U.S. in the form of Hurricane Irma. #SRSLY

• At this writing, 86 GOP members of Congress have signed an amicus brief in support of Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, who refused to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding. Donald Trump’s Justice Department also filed a brief in support of the baker’s right to discriminate against LGBTs.

• Buzzfeed reports that this ripped daddy (above/below), Pawel Ladziak – the self-styled “Polish Viking,” is actually only 35 years old. He apparently spends thousands each year to look like a really fit 60-year-old.

• Former Hercules actor Kevin Sorbo will speak at the virulently anti-LGBT Values Voter Summit this year. Other speakers include former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, former child actor Kirk Cameron, Dr. Ben Carson, and “Duck Dynasty” reality peformer Phil Robertson.

• Donald Trump told reporters he has “no second thoughts” about his decision to rescind the DACA program. And yet, this morning he tweeted that should Congress fail to address this immigration impasse, he will “revisit this issue.” He said he had to end the program because it’s “unconstitutional,” so how would he “revisit” an unconstitutional problem?

• Chocolate giant Mars is committing close to $1 billion to fight climate change.

• Hillary Clinton will sit down this coming Sunday with Jane Pauley of CBS’ Sunday Morning 9:00 AM EST for her first network TV interview since losing the 2016 election. She’ll be talking about the ill-fated quest for the presidency, President Donald Trump and her new book, What Happened.

• You know how boxers love to get in each other’s faces before a match? Like, really, really close? NewNowNext has collected their top 15 times boxers got so “game face” it looked like they were going to kiss. #KissKissKiss

• The Pope approves of “civil unions” for same-sex couples but says marriage is a “historical word” for men and women that “we cannot change.”

• Hate pastor Kevin Swanson of Colorado says the Texas legislature’s failure to pass an anti-transgender “bathroom bill” is the reason God sent Hurricane Harvey to destroy Houston.

• This paramedic who worked for six straight days saving lives in Houston during Hurricane Harvey could be deported if Donald Trump rescinds the DACA program.

• Donald Trump has named his first openly gay high-level appointment – homocon Richard Grenell as ambassador to Germany. You’ll recall Grenell served as Mitt Romney’s foreign policy spokesman in 2012 for two seconds until right-wing conservatives called for his dismissal because gay.

• And by the way – if you’re enjoying the Labor Day weekend (or any weekend for that matter) say thank you to the unions.

• L’Oréal fires transgender model Munroe Bergdorf for speaking out against racism.

• Hollywood is singing the blues as summer comes to an end and the LA Times reports the lowest number of movie tickets sold in the U.S. since 1992.

• Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers says society is getting better about accepting gays in the locker room, but players still have “a fear of job security” if they might come out.

• September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, a time to connect with those affected by suicide and to share resources to better support individuals to prevent suicide. According to a 2016 study by the Center for Disease Control, 43% of lesbian, gay and bisexual high school students seriously considered suicide in the previous 12 months, compared to 15 percent of their heterosexual peers. • The Trump administration has ordered three Russian diplomatic facilities in the U.S. closed (NYC, SF, DC) “in the spirit of parity invoked by the Russians” after Russia demanded the U.S. reduce our presence in their country by hundreds of personnel.

• “Dreamers” are uneasy as President Donald Trump weighs whether to pull the plug on DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program), a program that protects undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children.

• Check out the fun, new music video for Youngr’s acclaimed single “Monsters.” The artist describes the track as “a song for all the day dreamers and doodlers. I wrote this about my childhood at school. I used to draw my maths teacher as a monster whilst counting down the seconds until I could run home and play my drum kit! • 143 House Democrats have penned a letter asking Donald Trump to reconsider his “ill-advised and indefensible policy” of banning transgender service members from the U.S. military. Citing probable unconstitutionality of the policy, the lawmakers’ letter to the president underscores that trans military “serve with equal distinction; they are equally deserving of our gratitude and respect.”

• Pro-Trump/Nazi websites Stormfront and The Daily Stormer have lost their web hosting due to hate speech and histories of violent crimes.

• A Republican lawmaker has proposed an amendment in Congress that would stop funding the Special Counsel investigation 180 days after it became law. The amendment from Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis would also limit special counsel Robert Mueller from probing “matters occurring before June 2015,” which is the month Donald Trump announced his presidential bid.

• Averaging only a few thousand viewers during the day in the UK, the owners of Fox News have decided to pull the network from airing in Britain.

• New music from out Canadian twins Tegan and Sara as they team up with Matthew Dear for “Bad Ones.” Listen below.
