Nancy Pelosi On Impeaching Trump: “He’s Just Not Worth It”

Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. "And he’s just not worth it.”
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says Trump “is just not worth” impeaching

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wins ‘Quote of the Day’ with this bon mot from a lengthy interview with the Washington Post:

“I’m not for impeachment. This is news.

“I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.

“And he’s just not worth it.”

James Comey: Vote Trump Out In Landslide Without Impeachment

James Comey

During a Q&A session at Manhattan’s 92nd Street Y in New York City on Sunday night, former FBI Director James Comey told the audience that the answer to the scandal-ridden Trump administration is voting him out in a landslide in 2020, not impeachment.

Via CNN:

“All of us should use every breath we have to make sure the lies stop on January 20, 2021,” Comey told an audience at the 92nd Street Y on New York City’s Upper East Side. He all but begged Democrats to set aside their ideological differences and nominate the person best suited to defeating Trump in an election.

Comey said he hoped that Trump would be swept out of office without being impeached. Framing the rise of Trumpism as a political ill the country needed to exorcise at the ballot, he expressed a hope that Americans would “in a landslide rid ourselves of this attack on our values.”

“Removal by impeachment would muddy that,” he said, and potentially leave a third of the country feeling like their chosen leader had been removed in a “coup.”

For what it’s worth, I wholeheartedly agree.

First, even though a Democratic-led House of Representatives might vote for articles of impeachment, the Republican-controlled Senate would never vote Trump out.

Second, the democratic process would be viewed as a much more widespread solution than, as Comey says, a Trumper-viewed ‘coup.’

Trump: Stock Market Would Crash And “Everybody Would Be Very Poor” If I Got Impeached

In a softball interview for Fox News, Donald Trump told Fox & Friends talk show host Ainsley Earhardt that he couldn't understand how anyone would impeach "somebody who's doing a great job?"

In a softball interview for Fox News, Donald Trump told Fox & Friends talk show host Ainsley Earhardt that he couldn’t understand how anyone would impeach “somebody who’s doing a great job?”

The Trumpster went on to declare the stock market would tank and “everybody would be very poor” if he were to face impeachment.

Trump also shared that he feels “flipping” on past associates, as his former attorney Michael Cohen has done this week, “almost ought to be illegal.”

The Donald dodged a question regarding a possible pardon for former campaign chair Paul Manafort who was found guilty of 8 felonies this week.

I’m telling you right now – he’s going to pardon Manafort.

Oh, and Trump gives himself an A+ for the job he’s done. How generous.

Six House Democrats To Introduce 5 Articles Of Impeachment

Rep. Steve Cohen

House Democrats, led by Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee, have announced they will introduce five articles of impeachment alleging obstruction of justice, violations of both the foreign and domestic emoluments clause, undermining the federal judiciary and undermining the freedom of the press.

Cohen and company have asked that impeachment hearings against Donald Trump begin immediately.

Don’t expect this to go anywhere fast at this time considering the Republicans control Congress.

New Ad Calls For Impeachment Of Trump – “A Clear And Present Danger Who Is Mentally Unstable”

Check out this new ad I noticed yesterday on CNN calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump.

California billionaire Tom Steyer, who spent more than $75 million during the 2016 election to get millennials involved in progressive causes, has produced the spot as the part of a $10 million campaign calling for President Donald Trump’s impeachment.

“A Republican Congress once impeached a president for far less. And today, people in Congress and his own administration know that this President is a clear and present danger who is mentally unstable and armed with nuclear weapons,” says Steyer.

Note the tone of Steyer’s voice. This is not a wild, reckless rant.

I appreciate the sentiment but, of course, articles of impeachment will not be forthcoming from a Republican-controlled House of Representatives.

Now, should the Dems regain control of the House in next year’s mid-term elections, who knows?

Watch the spot below.

Poll: 41% Of Americans Would Support Impeachment Of President Trump

According to a new poll from Monmouth University, 41% of Americans would support the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

That number is considerably higher than those who called for President Nixon’s impeachment (24%) back in 1973.

The results of the survey also show Trump’s job approval rating at 39%; 52% disapprove.

House Democrat Files Article Of Impeachment Against President Trump

Accusing President Trump of obstructing justice during the current investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential campaign, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) has filed an article of impeachment against Trump.

Via The Hill:

This is the first time a lawmaker has offered an impeachment article against Trump, and comes as Democrats have debated whether it is politically wise to press the case for impeachment at this time.

A majority vote in the House, currently controlled by Republicans, is required to impeach a president. Republicans have a 46-seat advantage.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders slammed the move.

“I think that is utterly and completely ridiculous and a political game at its worst,” she told reporters Wednesday at an off-camera briefing.

Sherman argues that Trump’s abrupt firing of James Comey as FBI director in May amounts to obstructing justice and “high crimes and misdemeanors” amid the probes of whether Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russian government to swing the election.

He cites Comey’s allegations that Trump pressured him to drop the FBI’s investigation into ousted former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, as well as Trump’s shifting story on why he fired Comey.

The measure, H.R. 438, was officially introduced on the floor of the House today.

Sherman is an 11 term congressman who represents my old district in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. He’s a good guy.

This will, of course, go nowhere in the GOP-controlled House.

For now.
