Justin Bieber arrested for DUI, resisting arrest and more

Justin Bieber smiling for his mug shot

Above you see “Canadian idiot and usually late to his own concerts” recording artist Justin Bieber posing for his mug shot in Miami last night.

Bieber was arrested for DUI, drag racing, resisting arrest, driving with an expired license and some other stupid stuff that his handlers should have kept the idiot from doing.

From TMZ:

The police report says … Bieber was defiant from the get-go, yelling at the cops, “Why the f**k are you doing this?”  He also yelled, “What the f**k did I do.  Why did you stop me?”

When the officer tried to perform a routine pat down, Bieber said, “I ain’t got no f**king weapons, why do you have to search me?  What the f**k is this about?”  Bieber claimed he wasn’t drunk and coming back from recording music.  That’s not true, because we knew he was at a club.

Now the basis for the resisting arrest charge — Before the pat down, as Bieber got out of the car, he “kept going into his pants pocket.”  The cop ordered him to put his hands on the vehicle, and Bieber initially complied but soon took his hands off the car, turned and then cussed out the cop. The cop then grabbed Justin by the right arm, Justin pulled his arm away, and said, “What the f**k are you doing?”

The report says Justin was driving between 55 and 60 MPH in a 30 MPH residential area.

Bieber is now in custody and is at the police department where he is being tested — presumably to more precisely measure his blood alcohol level.  Our law enforcement sources say Justin was given a field sobriety test at the scene … and failed.

Aren’t we all tired of this?  WHAT do young girls see in this punk?  They think he’s “cute” so all the bad behavior is to be ignored?
Word is he could be deported if convicted of a felony charge.  His high powered lawyers and record label will keep that from happening, but we can only dream.

In related news, we should all feel sorry for Buzzfeed writer Ryan Broderick, who tweeted a screen capture of his Tweet Deck feed covered with Justin Bieber mug shots.

Rep. Joe Barton – Wind is a finite resource

Graphic via Teabonics

This “quote” has been widely attributed to Congressman Joe Barton of Texas: “Wind is a finite resource and harnessing it would slow down the winds which would cause the temperature to go up.”

This appears, however, be an amalgamation cobbled together from a Time Magazine report:

At a 2009 hearing, Barton implied that wind is a “finite resource” and that harnessing it would “slow the winds down” which would “cause the temperature to go up.”

According to Washington Monthly, this was the full quote:

“Wind is God’s way of balancing heat. Wind is the way you shift heat from areas where it’s hotter to areas where it’s cooler. That’s what wind is. Wouldn’t it be ironic if in the interest of global warming we mandated massive switches to energy, which is a finite resource, which slows the winds down, which causes the temperature to go up? Now, I’m not saying that’s going to happen, Mr. Chairman, but that is definitely something on the massive scale. I mean, it does make some sense. You stop something, you can’t transfer that heat, and the heat goes up. It’s just something to think about.”

Depending on how you parse the language, you may (or may not) read into Barton’s statement that he was implying that building an army of wind turbines might slow down wind enough to actually affect the planet’s temperature.

Barton is the House author of the Energy Policy Act of 2006 and Chairman of the House-Senate energy conference committee.

Guido Barilla, CEO of Barilla Pasta, meets with LGBT organizations over recent anti-gay comments

Guido Barilla, CEO of Barilla Pasta, is feeling the heat for his recent anit-gay statements

Well, it appears the idiot CEO of Barilla Pasta – Guido Barilla – is really feeling the heat of his recent anti-gay comments. He recently found time to meet with LGBT rights organizations in Italy to discuss the damage done by his comments:

On Monday, Mr. Barilla met with five different LGBT organizations: Arcigay, Arcilesbica, Famiglie Arcobaleno, Gaynet, and Equality Italia. The meeting was held at the Regione Emilia-Romagna headquarters, where former Arcigay president and now regional councillor Franco Grillini has his office.

In an interview with GayStarNews, Grillini said: “We spoke about the company’s policies and about the impact on the LGBT community worldwide. Mr. Barilla apologized once again and told us they are really worried for the boycotting in North America. The news had a big impact in the United States and they went to the U.S. last week to reinforce their presence in that country.”

Good. I’m glad Barilla sees there are repercussions to discriminatory comments today.

I have no sympathy for him or his company, though. What they actually do next is their move. We’ll see.

However, its sad to know that this is about their bottom line and not a true reading of how he feels.

New Mexico: Man crashes car during drunk sex, hides in cactus

So, what do you do when you get caught driving while intoxicated and having sex, running red lights and the police are after you?

In New Mexico, this guy tried hiding behind (“in”?) some cactus…

From RawStory:

Witness told Albuquerque police that Luis Briones was observed having sex with a woman who was on his lap while he was driving, according to KRQE. Briones ran a red light and struck another car, throwing his naked companion from the vehicle.

The report said that Briones tried to flee but a witness took his car keys. Police later found Briones hiding in cactus with his shorts inside out. The complaint stated that he refused to cooperate with police and became hostile with paramedics. Police said that he also refused to wear his pants while inside the patrol car.

Apparently, no seatbelts were being worn, although a “partially consumed” bottle of vodka was found in the car.

Briones is looking at at least eight charges including DWI, running a red light, reckless driving and sexually assaulting a cacti.  (Ok, I made the last one up.)

Here’s the news report on the story from KRQE:

Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert compares marriage equality to bestiality – again

Rep. Louie Gohmert (L) and Michael Reagan (R)

Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert took a sideways argument against common sense gun legislation and “slippery-sloped” right over to gay “bestiality:”

In fact, I had this discussion with some wonderful, caring Democrats earlier this week on the issue of, well, they said “surely you could agree to limit the number of rounds in a magazine, couldn’t you? How would that be problematic?”

And I pointed out, well, once you make it ten, then why would you draw the line at ten? What’s wrong with nine? Or eleven? And the problem is once you draw that limit ; it’s kind of like marriage when you say it’s not a man and a woman any more, then why not have three men and one woman, or four women and one man, or why not somebody has a love for an animal?

There is no clear place to draw the line once you eliminate the traditional marriage and it’s the same once you start putting limits on what guns can be used, then it’s just really easy to have laws that make them all illegal.

Listen below via RightWingWatch:

In related news, President Reagan’s son, Michael, wrote an op-ed piece bringing marriage equality, bestiality and murder into the same thinking space:

“It’s ultimately about changing the culture of the entire country; it inevitably will lead to teaching our public school kids that gay marriage is a perfectly fine alternative and no different than traditional marriage.

There is also a very slippery slope leading to other alternative relationships and the unconstitutionality of any law based on morality. Think about polygamy, bestiality, and perhaps even murder.”

What’s pretty grotty about the whole endeavor is that it’s all done with conscious intent. These men know exactly what they are doing when they make these comments about the LGBT community.

Just, totally gross.

Chinese business man misses flight; trashes departure gate

Wow. I can’t imagine behavior like this in the US with TSA.

From Towleroad: Yan Linkun, a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee (CPPCC) from Shizong county, Yunnan Province, did not react well after he missed his plane last week. Yan had gone to have breakfast after purchasing his ticket but did not make it back in time to board.

He then destroyed everything in sight.

No sound, but the action gets going at the 1:30 mark. Really kind of amazing.
