Trump Administration To Add 15,000 Work Visas For Workers Outside The U.S.

Just in time for Donald Trump’s “Made In America” week, the Trump administration has announced an increase of 15,000 work visas for workers from outside the U.S.

From the Chicago Tribune:

The Department of Homeland Security on Monday announced a one-time increase of 15,000 additional visas for low-wage, seasonal workers for the remainder of this fiscal year, a seeming about-face from President Trump’s “Hire American” rhetoric, following heavy lobbying from the fisheries, hospitality and other industries that rely on temporary foreign workers.

The increase represents a 45 percent bump from the number of H-2B visas normally issued for the second half of the fiscal year, said senior Homeland Security officials in a call with reporters Monday.

The visas are for workers taking seasonal jobs in the seafood, tourism and other industries — but not farm laborers.

Trumpers – you got played. President Babyhands promised you all jobs and now he’s allowing 15,000 more immigrants to come into the country for jobs.

And on top of that, Trump’s “Made In America” week also gets the “Irony Award” since the vast majority of Trump products are made outside the U.S.A. Watch the report below.

Poll: 41% Of Americans Would Support Impeachment Of President Trump

According to a new poll from Monmouth University, 41% of Americans would support the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

That number is considerably higher than those who called for President Nixon’s impeachment (24%) back in 1973.

The results of the survey also show Trump’s job approval rating at 39%; 52% disapprove.

Lesson In Irony: Trump To Celebrate “Made In America” Week

In a case of “Do as I say, not as I do,” President Trump will launch “Made In America” week which will highlight U.S. manufacturing.

The irony being, of course, that many of the Trump Organization’s products are made overseas.

From the Washington Post:

For Trump, highlighting U.S.-made products is inconsistent with his practices as a businessman. For years, the Trump Organization has outsourced much of its product manufacturing, relying on a global network of factories in a dozen countries — including Bangladesh, China and Mexico — to make its clothing, home decor pieces and other items.

Similarly, the clothing line of Ivanka Trump, the president’s older daughter and a senior White House adviser, relies exclusively on foreign factories employing low-wage workers in countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia and China, according to a recent Washington Post investigation.

Asked at Sunday’s briefing whether “Made in America” week would include a commitment from the Trump Organization or Ivanka Trump’s company to make more of their products in the United States, Ferre told reporters, “We’ll get back to you on that.”

Poll: Donald Trump Hits Record Low In Job Approval

Donald Trump likes to tout his ability to break records, but this is a record no one would want to own.

According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, Trump has the lowest approval rating of any president in the past 70 years.

The survey shows only 36% of Americans approve of his job performance. And that’s down 6 points from his 100-day mark. Of those polled, 58% disapprove of how Trump is handling the presidency.

The last time a president was even close to this level was in 1975 just after President Ford had pardoned Richard Nixon.

Other polling results:

• 63% say it was inappropriate for Donald Trump Jr. to take a meeting with a “Russian government attorney” during the presidential campaign

• Only 38% feel Trump is making progress on his campaign promises

• Only 24% of those polled prefer the new Trumpcare legislation versus 50% who like the current law

• 63% feel it’s more important for the government to provide healthcare coverage for low-income Americans; 27% say cutting taxes is more important

Trump doesn’t seem fazed by his record low numbers at all. This morning he tweeted that the results are “not bad at this time.”

Donald Trump’s Odd 25-Second Long Handshake With French President Macron

Folks are talking about this awkward 25-second handshake between President Trump and French President Macron.

And it is rather odd.

Not only does Trump not let go of Macron’s hand for an uncomfortable length of time, he then leans over and kisses and hugs Mrs. Macron without letting go of the French president’s hand.

It comes across like two couples on their first wife-swapping date or something.

President Trump: My Son’s Meeting With A Russian Lawyer Is “Standard” In Politics

At a press conference in Paris today with French President Emmanuel Macron, President Trump defended his son, Donald Trump Jr., for taking a meeting last June with what he expected to be a “Russian government attorney” who said she had dirt on Hillary Clinton from the Russian government.

President Trump says meetings with foreign nationals who offer to help in a campaign “standard.”

“My son is a wonderful young man. He took a meeting with a Russian lawyer. Not a government lawyer, but a Russian lawyer. It was a short meeting. It was a meeting that went very, very quickly; went very fast. Two other people were in the room. I guess one of them left almost immediately. And the other one was not really focused on the meeting.

“I do think from a practical standpoint most people would have taken that meeting. It’s called opposition research, or even research into your opponent. I’ve only been in politics for two years and I’ve had many people call up and say “Oh gee, we have information on this factor or this person. Or, frankly, Hillary. That’s very standard in politics. Politics is not the nicest business in the world, but it’s very standard where they have the information and you take the information.”

Trump added, “Zero happened from the meeting.”

It’s actually against the law for a campaign to accept anything of value (including information on your political opponent) from a foreign national.

In related news, senators from both the Senate Judiciary and Intelligence committees are asking Don Jr. to testify under oath about the June 9th meeting.

GLAAD Denounces President Trump’s Interview With Anti-LGBT Activist Pat Robertson

GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, blasted President Donald Trump’s one-on-one interview with Pat Robertson, a longtime anti-LGBTQ activist and Televangelist.

Robertson is infamous for calling for so-called “religious exemptions” to push a dangerous anti-LGBTQ agenda, accusing LGBTQ people of deliberately spreading HIV and AIDS, supporting so-called “conversion therapy,” and comparing the LGBTQ community to Satanists as well as thieves, rapists, and murders.

“Today’s interview with anti-LGBTQ activist Pat Robertson should be the last straw for anyone leaving hope that President Trump would be an ally to LGBTQ people,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD.

“Trump refused to speak out about LGBTQ Pride Month or against the atrocities facing gay men in Chechnya in favor of today using the office of the President to give credibility to a debunked TV personality with a long history of peddling vile inaccuracies and salacious insults that harm LGBTQ people. As anti-LGBTQ activists like Robertson get the red-carpet treatment at the White House, LGBTQ people must stay visible and fight back against all those seeking to erase our hard-fought progress.”

The CBN anchor also previously defended the widely panned Access Hollywood “Trump Tapes,” where President Trump bragged about committing sexual assault on women. Robertson said Trump was merely trying “to look like he’s macho,” further pushing the dangerous implication that groping women is a positive and normal way for men to elevate their masculinity.

This week’s interview comes at the same time as Attorney General Jeff Sessions delivered remarks at a closed-door summit on “religious liberty” hosted by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). The ADF is labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and is currently representing Jack Phillips in the Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case, which argues whether someone could use so-called “religious exemptions” to discriminate against LGBTQ people. The United States Supreme Court will hear oral arguments for the case later on this fall.

House Democrat Files Article Of Impeachment Against President Trump

Accusing President Trump of obstructing justice during the current investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential campaign, Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) has filed an article of impeachment against Trump.

This is the first time a lawmaker has offered an impeachment article against Trump, and comes as Democrats have debated whether it is politically wise to press the case for impeachment at this time.

A majority vote in the House, currently controlled by Republicans, is required to impeach a president. Republicans have a 46-seat advantage.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders slammed the move.

“I think that is utterly and completely ridiculous and a political game at its worst,” she told reporters Wednesday at an off-camera briefing.

Sherman argues that Trump’s abrupt firing of James Comey as FBI director in May amounts to obstructing justice and “high crimes and misdemeanors” amid the probes of whether Trump’s campaign colluded with the Russian government to swing the election.

He cites Comey’s allegations that Trump pressured him to drop the FBI’s investigation into ousted former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, as well as Trump’s shifting story on why he fired Comey.

The measure, H.R. 438, was officially introduced on the floor of the House today.

Sherman is an 11 term congressman who represents my old district in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. He’s a good guy.

This will, of course, go nowhere in the GOP-controlled House.

Trump U-Turns On US/Russian “Cyber Security Unit”

Yesterday, President Trump surprised many by sharing he discussed forming “an impenetrable Cyber Security unit” with Russian President Putin:

Of course, while Trump seems to trust Putin, the U.S. intelligence community unanimously agrees that it was Putin who ordered the interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Many compared teaming up with Russia on cyber security akin to hiring the burglar who robbed your house to develop a home security system.

One day later, Trump appeared to reverse course on the idea tweeting, “The fact that President Putin and I discussed a Cyber Security unit doesn’t mean I think it can happen. It can’t – but a ceasefire can & did!”
