#Burn Of The Day: Chelsea Clinton Claps Back At Donald Trump

Donald Trump was attempting to deflect the heat his daughter Ivanka Trump received for “sitting in” for him at a G20 meeting last week.

The Trumpster first declared that it was “very standard” to have her take his seat, which is actually not true. It would have been “standard” had it been the Secretary of State or similar, but not the First Daughter.

Then, he attempted to assert that Hillary Clinton would have done the same by asking Chelsea Clinton to sit in.

Chelsea, however, responded with a polite but direct message: “Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me. Were you giving our country away? Hoping not.”

By the way, Chelsea Clinton has a Ph.D. in International Relations from Oxford University. Ivanka steals shoe designs. I think Chelsea sitting at that table wouldn’t bother me.

Viral Video: Australian Journalist Delivers Brutal Assessment Of Trump At G20 Summit

Retweeted over 30,000 times overnight.

The political director of Australia’s ABC delivers a brutal takedown of President Trump at the G20 summit.

His comments, in part:

The G20 became the G19 as it ended. On the Paris climate accords the United States was left isolated and friendless.

It is, apparently, where this US President wants to be as he seeks to turn his nation inward.

Donald Trump has a particular, and limited, skill-set. He has correctly identified an illness at the heart of the Western democracy. But he has no cure for it and seems to just want to exploit it.

He is a character drawn from America’s wild west, a travelling medicine showman selling moonshine remedies that will kill the patient.

He was an uneasy, awkward figure at this gathering and you got the strong sense some other leaders were trying to find the best way to work around him.

But it is the unscripted Mr Trump that is real. A man who barks out bile in 140 characters, who wastes his precious days as President at war with the West’s institutions — like the judiciary, independent government agencies and the free press.

Some will cheer the decline of America, but I think we’ll miss it when it is gone.

Trump Contradicts Secretary Of State, Plans “Cyber Security Unit” With Russia

Now that he’s back on American soil having returned from the G20 summit, Donald Trump took to Twitter this morning to thoroughly confuse the world with messages that contradict each other.

First, Trump says he “pressed President Putin twice about Russian meddling in our election. He vehemently denied it. I’ve already given my opinion…”

Not sure if that means he takes Putin at his word that he didn’t order election interference (when our intel community says he did) or not. The Russian Foreign Minister told press that Trump was “satisfied” by Putin’s denials. No top White House aide has disputed that claim.

Trump goes on to say he “discussed forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit so that election hacking, & many other negative things, will be guarded and safe.”

So, he’s going to team up with Putin to make sure election hacking will be guarded and safe? Or does he mean “guard against” election hacking?

And why would you team up with the guy who cyber-hacked our elections?

Isn’t that like the FBI asking the Mafia to form an anti-crime unit?

And finally, Trump says “sanctions were not discussed.” But this contradicts Tillerson, who told reporters sanctions were discussed between Trump and Putin.

Just another day in this wacky, tacky Trump world.

New Poll: 37 Nations Give Trump Much Lower Ratings Than Obama

Trump told Americans that “the world will respect us again” when he was running for president.

But according to a new Pew Research Center Poll, it’s exactly the opposite – 37 nations gave President Obama much higher ratings on the world stage than Trump does today.

Check the numbers above.

The only two countries where Trump looked good was – surprise! – Israel and Russia.

Trump Confuses Podesta Email Leak With DNC Server Hack

According to Donald Trump, EVERYONE at the G20 summit meeting is talking about why “John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA” during the 2016 election.

Only problem: John Podesta didn’t work for the DNC, so he couldn’t give the FBI or CIA their email server.

Trump is clearly conflating the hacking of the DNC’s server with the release of Podesta’s emails while he was Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman.

It’s doubtful any of the G20 leaders even know who Podesta is.

Except, well, Putin. For obvious reasons.

Final thought: THIS is where Trump’s head is just before he’s to walk into a meeting with the president of Russia? #smh

When Vladimir Met Donald

That highly anticipated “first meeting” (wink, wink) between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place today.

As you may recall, Trump has given conflicting answers in the past as to whether or not he has met or have any relationship with Putin.

At a low-key meeting at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, Trump said, “Putin and I have been discussing various things, and I think it’s going very well.”

Via translator, Putin acknowledged that while the two leaders had previously spoken by phone, “I am delighted to meet you personally,” Putin said.

I wish Trump would develop better posture.

Putin looks “delighted” to be there, doesn’t he?

Trump Offers Putin A Two-Hander At Initial Meeting

The world was watching for the first ever meeting of President Puppet Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and it happened this morning at the G20 summit.

Before their scheduled afternoon meeting, a journalist happened to catch this moment when Trump leaned in with a two-hander to greet Putin for the first (27th?) time.

He also gave Putin a friendly slap on the back.

No report on whether “beautiful chocolate cake” was offered.

Did The Polish First Lady Diss Donald Trump’s Handshake?

Folks are pointing to this moment today when it appeared that the First Lady of Poland dissed Donald Trump, walking past him to shake Melania Trump’s hand.

I’m no fan of the Donald’s, but just keeping it real – Poland’s First Lady does immediately turn and shake DT’s hand after Melania’s.

Was it the men and women shaking each other’s hands first, or was it a diss?

HRC To Trump: You Must Address Anti-Gay Torture In Chechnya With Russian President Putin

The Human Rights Campaign sent a letter from HRC President Chad Griffin to President Donald Trump urging Trump to forcefully raise concerns with Russian President Putin over Chechen attacks against gay and bisexual men.

“It is imperative that you forcefully raise this issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin when you meet him in Germany at the G-20 summit this week,” writes HRC President Chad Griffin. “I urge you to stand with the victims by calling on President Putin to take immediate action to bring the violence to an end and the perpetrators of these horrendous crimes to justice.”

Since news first broke in April, more than 100 gay and bisexual men have been arrested and detained without charge. While some have been set free, reports indicate that many remain in detention, where they have been beaten, tortured, and at least three have been killed.

Just last week, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution condemning the atrocities, and world leaders from British Prime Minister Theresa May to German Chancellor Angela Merkel have made it clear to President Putin that lawless detentions, arrests, torture, and murders of LGBTQ people are unacceptable.

HRC has repeatedly called on Secretary Tillerson and President Trump to forcefully condemn the atrocities in Chechnya. While Ambassador Haley and the State Department have issued statements, the White House has not addressed the crisis.

I am certain Trump has no plans to bring up the horrific treatment of gays in Chechnya.

Poland: Trump Criticizes U.S. Intelligence Agencies & Obama During Press Conference

At a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda today, Donald Trump broke with a longstanding tradition of not criticizing U.S. leaders or institutions while abroad.

Asked to definitively answer whether or not he believed Russia interfered in the 2016 elections, Trump attacked U.S. intelligence organizations and Barack Obama.

Via CNN:

Trump, asked about the fact the United States intelligence community has said it was Russia, compared that assessment to the eventually debunked claim that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction in the lead-up to the Iraq War.

“I think it was Russia but I think it was probably other people and or countries. I see nothing wrong with that statement,” Trump said. “Nobody really knows. Nobody really knows for sure.”

He added, “I remember when I was sitting back listening about Iraq, weapons of mass destruction, how everybody was 100% certain that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction. Guess what? That led to one big mess. They were wrong and it led to a mess.”

Trump slammed former President Barack Obama’s handling of Russian interference as he stood next to Duda, arguing that the former president “did nothing” to combat the interference.

“Why did he do nothing about it? He was told it was Russia by the CIA … and he did nothing about it,” Trump said. “They said he choked. I don’t think he choked. Well, I don’t think he choked. I think what happened was he thought Hillary Clinton was going to win the election and he said let’s not do anything about it. Had he thought the other way, he would have done something about it.”

NBC News fact-checked Trump’s response regarding whether Obama did “nothing” about the Russian intervention:

On Oct. 7, 2016, the Department of Homeland Security and Director of National Intelligence issued a statement explicitly saying that Russia was behind the election hacks. (“The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations.”)

And two, the Obama administration sanctioned Russia for its interference. (“President Obama struck back at Russia on Thursday for its efforts to influence the 2016 election, ejecting 35 suspected Russian intelligence operatives from the United States and imposing sanctions on Russia’s two leading intelligence services,” the New York Times wrote on Dec. 29, 2016.)

Now you can legitimately argue that Obama didn’t do ENOUGH or EARLY ENOUGH against Russia. But you can’t say he did nothing.
