Chris Christie On Cavalier Coronavirus Attitude: “I Was Wrong”

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who participated in Donald Trump’s preparation before the first presidential debate (after which it was discovered Trump was coronavirus+), shares with USA Today the remorse he feels for not wearing a face mask amid the COVID-19 pandemic after he was diagnosed with the virus and had to be hospitalized for a week. From USA Today:

Former Gov. Chris Christie said Thursday he was “wrong” not to wear a mask in the days before testing positive for COVID-19, but that he felt at that time that he was in a “safe zone” because of frequent testing.

Having spent a week being treated for the disease caused by the coronavirus – in an intensive care unit – Christie said he had a chance for greater reflection about his actions and the virus.

“It is something to take very seriously. The ramifications are wildly random and potentially deadly,” Christie said in a statement, first reported by the New York Times. “No one should be happy to get the virus and no one should be cavalier about being infected or infecting others.”

“I was wrong,” Christie said.

Christie shares that he was given access to “extraordinary treatments,” including the anti-viral Remdesivir and a cocktail by the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. He concluded those factors, which are not available to you nor I, “contributed to my good health today.”

Chris Christie: Trump’s “Hyberbolic” Salesman Style Could Land Him In Jail

Donald Trump’s former butt boy (and former New Jersey governor) Chris Christie told a panel on ABC’s “This Week” this morning that Donald Trump’s “hyperbolic” salesman style would not play well should he agree to give testimony to FBI agents.

“One of the things that makes the president who he is is that he’s a salesman, and salesmen at times tend to be hyperbolic,” Christie said.

“That’s OK when you’re working on Congress. It is not OK when you’re sitting talking to federal agents because, 18 U.S. C 1001 is false statements to federal agents, that’s a crime, that can send you to jail.”

Christie also offered that the Trumpeter should never “walk into that room with” Mueller.

Christie also called the Trump transition team “brutally unprofessional.”

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Bans “Bump Stocks” On Last Day In Office

Gov. Chris Christie

Color me surprised by outoing New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

From NJ.com:

New Jersey has now banned “bump stocks,” controversial firearm accessories allegedly used by the shooter in last year’s Las Vegas massacre.

The devices can be affixed to semiautomatic rifles to allow them to fire bullets, mimicking automatic weapons.

But under the new law — which takes effect immediately — anyone who owns one has 90 days to surrender them to authorities. Retailers have 30 days.

Christie, a Republican, signed the law even though he has long opposed new gun-control measures in the state.

Bannon: No Cabinet Position For Christie Due To Lack Of Support Over “Grab’em By The Pussy” Video

In his 60 Minutes interview with Charlie Rose last night, former White House strategist Steve Bannon admits NJ Gov. Chris Christie was taken out of contention for a cabinet post for not standing by Donald Trump when the now infamous “Grab ’em by the pussy” video surfaced.

“Christie, because of Billy Bush weekend, was not looked at for a cabinet position,” Bannon said in an interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that aired Thursday. “I told him the plane leaves at 11-o-clock in the morning. If you make the plane, you make the team. He didn’t make the plane.”

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Soaks Up Rays With Family On Closed State Beach

This past Saturday, incredibly unpopular New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (only 15% of NJ approves of the job he’s doing) ordered a shut down of the state government due to a budget impasse with the Democratic controlled legislature.

The shutdown included all state parks and beaches during the July 4 weekend. The shutdown is only the second in the state’s history.

According to reports, even a 25 member Cub Scout pack was ejected from a state park.

Christie’s administration has been ruthless about enforcement, kicking out a Cub Scout Pack with 25 kids from a state park.

But Christie was busted when he and his family were photographed soaking up the sun on Island Beach State Park.

On Sunday, he told reporters he “didn’t get any sun” on Saturday.

“I didn’t. I didn’t get any sun today,” Christie said.

When the pesky, inconvenient photos were brought up to a Christie spokesman, the reply was twisted into explaining that Christie “did not get any sun” because he “had a baseball hat on.”

Asked if this is fair, Christie said Saturday: “Run for governor, and you can have a residence there.”

Chris Christie: Trump’s Loyalty Demands Are Just “Normal New York City Conversation”

During an appearance on MSNBC last night, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie told host Nicole Wallace regarding Trump’s unorthodox communications, “What you’re seeing is a president who is now very publicly learning about the way people react to what he considers to be normal New York City conversation.”

That sounds like Christie thinks Trump should get a break for doing things considered very, very inappropriate for a president.

Immediately “normal New York City conversation” began trending on Twitter.

Former Aide Testifies Gov. Christie Knew About Bridge Closings In Advance

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie

Bridget Kelly, a former top aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, testified in court today that the governor knew about planned bridge closings in August of 2013 a month before they occurred.

Via NPR.org:

Kelly is on trial for federal charges that range from conspiracy to wire fraud. She’s the author of the infamous email about the September 2013 lane closures on the George Washington Bridge, and her message in that email — “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee” — has been seen as proof that the closures of crucial roads leading into New York City weren’t just a mishap of planning, but an attempt to punish Fort Lee’s mayor for not endorsing Christie during his re-election campaign.

Kelly, who was fired as Christie’s deputy chief of staff in the fallout from the scandal, testified on her own behalf Friday, saying Christie had consented to the Port Authority’s plan to shut down the roads for four days — a plan that not only ruined commuters’ trips but also frustrated ambulances’ attempts to transport patients.

Today, Kelly gave new details about the scandal, and about Christie’s behavior. Via Twitter, Andrea Bernstein of member station WNYC reports that under questioning by her defense attorney, Kelly testified:

• That she told Christie about the closings one month before they occurred, and that they were expected to cause “tremendous” problems;

• That Christie’s main response was to ask “What’s our relationship with Mayor Sokolich?” — referring to Mayor Mark Sokolich of Fort Lee;

• That Kelly also talked with Christie about Mayor Sokolich’s public safety complaints over the closures while traffic was still snarled;

•That during a meeting in Seaside Heights, Christie flew into a rage over being asked by Kelly to introduce people, and asked her, “What do you think I am, a ****ing game show host?” Kelly was in tears as she said Christie then threw a water bottle at her that struck her in the arm.

Gov. Christie has maintained he knew nothing about the bridge closings.

Christie, a high-level Donald Trump advisor,  has been noticeably absent from the presidential campaign for some time now.

Federal Prosecutors: Chris Christie Knew About Washington Bridge Closings

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie

Federal prosecutors told jurors today that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie knew about the Washington Bridge closings back in 2013 for political payback.

Via Politico:

Gov. Chris Christie was told of the George Washington Bridge lane closures as they were occurring in 2013, a federal prosecutor told jurors on Monday in U.S. District Court.

David Wildstein, who has already pleaded guilty to playing a role in the incident, and Bill Baroni, who is now on trial for his alleged role in the scheme, “bragged” about the traffic gridlock that lane closures were causing when they spoke with the Republican governor at a Sept. 11 memorial in Lower Manhattan, Assistant U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna said.

The two Christie-appointed former Port Authority officials mentioned the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee, Mark Sokolich, whom they are accused to trying to punish after he refused to endorse Christie’s reelection campaign, the prosecutor said.

“The evidence will show that Baroni and Wildstein were so committed to their plan that, during the precious moments they had alone with the governor, they bragged about the fact that there were traffic problems in Fort Lee and that Mayor Sokolich was not getting his calls returned,” Khanna told jurors during his opening remarks on Monday morning.

Khanna did not elaborate on what was allegedly said during the conversation with Christie, but told jurors that “evidence in this case may show that others could have, should have, perhaps knew certain aspects of what was going on.”

Baroni, the former deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Bridget Anne Kelly, Christie’s former deputy chief of staff, were indicted last May on charges of conspiracy, fraud and civil rights violations.

Christie is currently a top advisor to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
