News Round-Up: April 24, 2017

• Folks are wondering why Mar-a-Lago is suddenly being promoted on a federal government sites?

• The Navy and Marines have issued new regulations that ban spreading nude images in the wake of last month’s photo scandal involving the Marine Corps.

• Caitlyn Jenner’s 20/20 interview in 2015, which delivered the news that the Olympic gold medalist is, in fact, transgender was a ratings bonanza. The interview drew 17 million viewers. Jenner’s followup with Diane Sawyer this past Friday was a bit of a bust bringing only 4.2 million sets of eyeballs and losing to a rerun of CBS’ Blue Bloods.

• Plans for removing four Confederate monuments by the city of New Orleans including having workers wear armor and stationing police snipers to keep watch for lunatic racists that might try to interfere with the removal.

•Xavier Jugelé, the French police officer murdered last night in an apparent terrorist attack on Paris’s Champs-Élysées was a member of Flag, an organization for LGBT police officers in France, and a local hero to his community.

• Intelligence gathered by the FBI last summer suggests that Russian operatives attempted to use Trump advisers, like Carter Page, to infiltrate the Trump campaign.

• After meeting with President Ramzan Kadyrov of Chechnya, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that reports of gay men being rounded up, tortured and killed in the Chechen nation are unfounded.

• With little to show for his first 100 days as prez, Donald Trump is pushing for another run at health care reform. A new amendment to proposed legislation would undermine Obamacare’s existing conditions mandate.

• Caitlyn Jenner, who voted for President Trump, now says she’s breaking with the Trumpster in a new 20/20 interview airing on ABC tonight. She’s so over Trump she won’t even play golf with the prez. Watch below.

Caitlyn Jenner On Sex Reassignment: “This Is The First Time, And The Last Time, I Will Ever Speak Of It”

RadarOnline writes today that in January of this year Caitlyn Jenner underwent sex reassignment surgery.

I’m not one to focus on the idea of anatomy when it comes to trans folks personal issues. But, in that Jenner wanted to address the topic and end any conjecture, I think it was totally her business to do so.

In the reality star’s new memoir, The Secrets of My Life, she claims she had the “Final Surgery” in January 2017, nearly two years after she publicly announced her identity as a trans woman in an explosive interview with Diane Sawyer.

“The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated,” she writes in the new memoir, out April 25.

The 67-year-old former Olympic gold medalist claims she came clean so fans will stop asking about her nether regions.

“I am telling you because I believe in candor,” she explains. “So all of you can stop staring. You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it.”

That said, everyone should be aware that you should never ask a trans person about the subject. It’s intensely personal, and rude.

Caitlyn Jenner: “This Is A Disaster”

Donald Trump supporter Caitlin Jenner took to her Instagram last night to declare, “I have a message for President Trump from one Republican to another. This is a disaster and you can still fix it. You may have promised to protect the LGBTQ community. Call me.”

The video message was in regards to the Trump administration reversing course on protections for transgender students.

Jenner also included a message in the video’s caption, which read:

“I have a message for the trans kids of America. You are winning. I know it doesn’t feel that way today or every day, but you _ are _ winning. You are going to keep on winning so much you’re going to get sick of winning. Very soon, we’ll win full freedom nationwide, and it’s going to happen with bipartisan support. For all our friends out there, If you want to be part of this winning side, you can help by checking out the National Center for Trans Equality and letting Washington hear how you feel loud and clear. (Link in bio!) Now…I also have a message for the bullies. You suck. You’re losers and you’re going to keep on losing. Because you’re weak, you pick on kids or you pick on women or anyone you think is vulnerable. Apparently even becoming the Attorney General isn’t enough to cure some of you of your insecurity. As proof that you can’t stop our progress, the Supreme Court will soon hear an important Title Nine case thanks to the courage of a brave young man named Gavin Grimm. See you in court!”

You may recall that Jenner is a devout Republican who supported Sen. Ted Cruz in his White House bid last year, called Hillary Clinton a “liar” and has repeatedly said she feels she can be an ambassador between the LGBT community and the GOP.

Cailtyn Jenner Tweets “I Am Cait” Series Cancelled

Caitlyn Jenner shared the news via Twitter that her E! Network reality show will not be continuing on for a third season after a dramatic decline in ratings.

Gay Star News has more:

E! Entertainment in a statement that it is ‘incredibly proud of the two seasons of I Am Cait’ which the cable channel described as ‘a groundbreaking docu-series that sparked an important and unprecedented global conversation about transgender people, their struggles and triumphs.

‘Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time. She will always remain a part of the E! family, and we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.’

Caitlyn Jenner Covers Sports Illustrated: “I Loved Bruce”

Caitlyn Jenner, in this month’s Sports Illustrated, has this to say about her former gender identity, Bruce Jenner:

“I loved Bruce. I still love him today. I like what he did and the way he set an example for hard work and dedication. I’m proud of that part of my life. But this woman was living inside me, all my life, and it reached the point where I had to let her live and put Bruce inside. And I am happier, these last 12 months, than I’ve ever been in my life.”

Caitlyn Jenner Changes Course On HIllary Clinton: “Willing To Listen”

Caitlyn Jenner shared the pic above, featuring Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, on her Instagram yesterday.

Apparently, the photo is from January when Jenner and posse headed up to Iowa in advance of the first in the nation caucus. Jenner and company waited in the lobby of Clinton’s hotel  with lots of other folks hoping to get the photo op.

A bit surprising move considering Jenner has just recently called Clinton a “fucking liar” and a “political hack.” But the pic was accompanied by the hashtags #learningfrommygirls and #willingtolisten.

As I’ve said before, I appreciate the visibility Jenner brings to transgender issues, I’m not certain she’s the perfect role model for the trans community. But then, who of us IS the “perfect role model?”

Caitlyn Jenner On HIllary Clinton: “She’s A F*cking Liar”

On an upcoming episode of the soon-to-be-cancelled I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner shares her thoughts on the current presidential race.

On Donald Trump: “Um, I’m not a big fan because, I think, of his macho attitude. It doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be good for women’s issues, I think he would be very good for women’s issues.”

“I don’t think he’s out there to destroy women or takes things away or do any of that kind of stuff.”

On Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: “Oh my God. I would never ever ever vote for Hillary … We’re done if Hillary becomes President. The country is over. [She’s a] f–king liar.”
