• New York Times: The Tennessee House, where Republicans have a super-majority, voted to expel two Democrats from the state legislature a week after they joined protesters in a call for stricter gun laws in the wake of a shooting that left six dead at a Christian school. An effort to expel a third Democrat fell short by one vote.
• The Advocate: Kansas legislators have overridden Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto of an anti-transgender school sports bill, making it law.

• ABC7NY: The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating an assault in Hell’s Kitchen that left a 44-year-old man hospitalized after being punched and stabbed by a group of young men, believed to range in age from 18 to 20 years old after yelling homophobic taunts.
