Don’t worry – the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is definitely happening as planned. Don’t believe the internet cult who fell for a satirical meme.
After Zohran Mamdani won the New York City mayoral election in early November 2025, a rumor began circulating online that Macy’s was canceling its annual Thanksgiving parade because the mayor-elect wanted to charge the department store $10 million to use Fifth Avenue.
Then, the satire Facebook page America’s Last Line of Defense (ALLOD) posted a meme (complete with a label in the bottom right hand corner reading “Nothing on this page is real.”

The content published by “America’s Last Line of Defense” is entirely fictional and explicitly states that “nothing on this page is real.” It was created to generate revenue through engagement and to mock people who take the stories for truth.
A simple internet search reveals there was no such request from Mamdani (who doesn’t even become mayor of New York City until January).
The official Macy’s parade website currently shows a countdown to the parade beginning.
And – anyone who’s ever attended the parade knows the event travels down Central Park West and Sixth Avenue, not Fifth Avenue.

But the Trump cult fell for it anyway. Folks sniped off the satire disclaimer in the lower right hand corner and whined on social media, even though X users added community notes to such posts indicating the image had been altered.
