Susan “Cindy Brady” Olsen Fired From Radio Gig Over Anti-Gay Slurs

Susan Olsen, famous for playing the precocious  “Cindy Brady” 40 years ago on The Brady Bunch sitcom, got the boot from her Los Angeles talk radio gig after using extremely anti-gay slurs in a Facebook message made public.

Via Gay Star News:

The politically conservative Olsen, who played Cindy Brady on the classic sitcom, was incensed when out actor Leon Acord described as a ‘Trump fanatic’ and called for her to be fired from the radio show in Facebook post. He accused Olsen of spreading misinformation.

She sent him a private message calling him a ‘faggot’ more than once and a ‘pussy’ among other crude insults.
Acord screenshot the messages and made them public.

The station said in a statement on its Facebook page that it had ‘severed ties’ with Olsen but did not use her name in sharing the news.

‘LA Talk Radio takes pride in its close and collaborative relationship with the LGBT community, and will continue to provide a home for those who have hopeful and positive messages of togetherness and tolerance to share with our listeners.’

‘We will not tolerate hateful speech by anyone associated with our radio station and have severed our ties with a host that veered off the direction in which we are going.

‘Thank you for your loyalty and continued support. LA Talk Radio stands for love and community, and we will always support all of our friends around the world.’

Trailer: “Spider-Man – Homecoming”

Via Rolling Stone:

Homecoming brings Peter Parker back to high school. The early Spidey suit he wears features web wings, a design only seen in the earliest of Spider-Man comic book appearances. Spider-Man, played by British actor Tom Holland, is shown scaling the Washington Monument, holding a sliced-in-half ferry boat together with his webbing and dealing with basic high school stuff like staring too long at a crush, zoning out in Science class and preparing for homecoming prom.

Robert Downey Jr. is also in the preview, with Tony Stark serving as a mentor for the fledgling superhero. “Don’t do anything I would do. And definitely don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” Stark tells Parker. “There’s a little gray area in there and that’s where you operate.”

President Obama Orders Investigation Into Election Interference By Russians

From CNN:

President Barack Obama has ordered a full review into 2016 election hacking by the Russians, Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser Lisa Monaco said Friday.

“The President has directed the Intelligence Community to conduct a full review of what happened during the 2016 election process. It is to capture lessons learned from that and to report to a range of stakeholders,” she said at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast. “This is consistent with the work that we did over the summer to engage Congress on the threats that we were seeing.”

Monaco said the administration would be mindful of the consequences of revealing the results of their review publicly.

The review is intended to be done before Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20.

Queer Film: Award-Winning “Kiss Me, Kill Me”

The award-winning queer film noir Kiss Me, Kill Me is now available on DVD and VOD.

Synopsis:

Starring as Dusty, four-time Emmy nominee Van Hansis (“As the World Turns” and “EastSiders“) blacks out while confronting his cheating boyfriend, Stephen, played by gay icon Gale Harold (“Queer as Folk”). When Dusty comes to, Stephen was murdered and he’s the prime suspect.

With plot twists and turns to keep you guessing, the film also stars a colorful collection of characters, many of whom might have their own reasons for wanting Stephen dead.

Director Casper Andreas had this to say about working on the slick flick:

“I have always enjoyed a good who-done-it. Growing up, I was a huge fan of both Agatha Christie novels and suspense thrillers, so when screenwriter David Michael Barrett sent me the script for KISS ME, KILL ME, I got very excited. Not only was this a bona-fide murder mystery, it was centered in a world I am very familiar with – gay West Hollywood.

“One of the things I loved most about the script was that it wasn’t a spoof of a thriller; it was the real thing. It also didn’t take itself too seriously, and even had characters commenting on the outrageous events, often balancing them with humor.”

I enjoy when a movie comes at you from a very specific point of view and style, and Andreas brings the “noir,” albeit with a light touch. It’s not until the last ten minutes of the film that the suspense and sense of danger gets you on the edge of your seat.

It’s great to see Gale Harold in a gay project again, this being his first since his work on “Queer As Folk.” He’s a strong anchor to the film. And Kit Williamson (“Eastsiders”) turns in a strong performance as Dusty’s bestie.

Kudos to composer Jonathan Dinerstein for his evocative original score, which lands right in the sweet spot for the film.

The Late Late Show: Carpool Karaoke With Madonna

US Weekly raves about the “carpool karaoke” episode we’ve all been waiting for The Late Late Show‘s James Corden to deliver:

Bitch, she’s Madonna. New York City drivers, beware: The Material Girl does not like to be cut off when she’s driving. The Queen of Pop joined James Corden for Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show on Wednesday, December 7, and the segment began with their black SUV getting cut off by a Manhattan bus. “Let’s drive up next to the bus. I want to give him what’s what,” Madonna, 58, told the host before calling him a p–sy. “You let people get away with bad behavior, they’re gonna do it again.”

First up came “Vogue,” as the pair began singing and striking poses, including a mile-high leg in the air from the singer. Then she began twerking as “Bitch I’m Madonna” played. Then they discussed whether her children liked her new music, and the Grammy winner admitted that while her four kids “are quite rebellious,” she’s “quite square.” “When I go home, I’m Julie Andrews,” she insisted.

Corden, 38, then changed the subject to men and marriage and asked what it was like hanging out with the late Michael Jackson. “You want me to kiss and tell then, don’t you?” she teased before admitting that she had kissed the King of Pop (with tongue), after getting him to loosen up with a glass of chardonnay. “Baby, I’ve been around,” she said.
