Lewandowski: Mueller Investigation Charges “Have Nothing To Do With The President”

With the news of impending charges approved by a grand jury in the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski appeared on (where else?) Fox & Friends to assure the faithful that “this has nothing to do with the president.”

“Let me be very very clear, I am certain of this, this has nothing to do with the president. If there were players on the outside that had a periphery or a small role of some type in the campaign, my guess is these charges have nothing to do with the campaign because I was there, there was no collusion, cooperation or coordination with Russia. So, let’s see what Mueller does, but the dam is not breaking. The only thing that is breaking are the Democrats.”

Note the rising pitch in his voice.

New Ryan Murphy Series Will Feature Largest Trans Cast Ever In Scripted TV History

Pose, the new series for FX from TV wonder-genius Ryan Murphy, will continue his practice of breaking down barriers and celebrating diversity by featuring the largest cast of transgender actors in a scripted series ever.

Via Deadline:

The five transgender actors were cast after a six-month nationwide search led by casting director Alexa Fogel. They are MJ Rodriguez (pictured, above), Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar, and Angelica Ross. All will be playing transgender characters. Also, cast in the series are Ryan Jamaal Swain, Billy Porter and Dyllon Burnside.

Set in the 1980s, Pose looks at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.

More from Reuters:

Michael Roberson and Twiggy Pucci Garcon are serving as consultants to the series on ball culture, an LGBTQ subculture rooted in 19080s nightclubs. Hector Xtravaganza, Skylar King, and Sol Williams will also serve as consultants.

Trans activist director Silas Howard will serve as a co-exec producer on the show, which will work with Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative to bring in trans directors for mentorship opportunities.

Leiomy Maldonado and Danielle Polanco will choreograph ball scenes for the show.

“We are thrilled that POSE pushes the narrative forward by centering on the unique and under-told experiences of trans women and gay people of color,” says Canals.

The pilot of Pose will be shot in New York City in November.

CNN: First Charges Approved By Grand Jury In Special Counsel Robert Mueller Investigation

Donald Trump

And so, it begins.

The first charges have been approved by a federal grand jury in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller.

From CNN:

The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge. Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said. It is unclear what the charges are.

A spokesman for the special counsel’s office declined to comment.

Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.

Just speculation, but three particular Donald Trump former associates – campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and campaign adviser Carter Page – are widely viewed as potential targets of the investigation.

Just this morning, Donald Trump tweeted, “It is now commonly agreed, after many months of COSTLY looking, that there was NO collusion between Russia and Trump.”

A little quick on the Twitter finger there, Donny?

• Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, who hails from the small town of Whitefish, Montana, says he had “absolutely nothing to do” with 2-man company Whitefish Energy Holdings being awarded the $300 million contract to rebuild Puerto Rico’s electric grid. I’m sure it’s pure coincidence…

NYT: Trump Tower Russian Lawyer Shared Same Talking Points As Kremlin Memo

According to Donald Trump and his White House, you would think the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election is just about over and was a big bust.

Trump tweeted today, “It is now commonly agreed, after many months of COSTLY looking, that there was NO collusion between Russia and Trump. Was collusion with HC!”

But that’s not at all the truth. It is not “commonly agreed” that there was nothing there.

As a matter of fact, check out this in today’s New York Times:

Natalia V. Veselnitskaya arrived at a meeting at Trump Tower in June 2016 hoping to interest top Trump campaign officials in the contents of a memo she believed contained information damaging to the Democratic Party and, by extension, Hillary Clinton. The material was the fruit of her research as a private lawyer, she has repeatedly said, and any suggestion that she was acting at the Kremlin’s behest that day is anti-Russia “hysteria.”

But interviews and records show that in the months before the meeting, Ms. Veselnitskaya had discussed the allegations with one of Russia’s most powerful officials, the prosecutor general, Yuri Y. Chaika.

And the memo she brought with her closely followed a document that Mr. Chaika’s office had given to an American congressman two months earlier, incorporating some paragraphs verbatim.

The coordination between the Trump Tower visitor and the Russian prosecutor general undercuts Ms. Veselnitskaya’s account that she was a purely independent actor when she sat down with Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, and Paul J. Manafort, then the Trump campaign chairman.

It also suggests that emails from an intermediary to the younger Mr. Trump promising that Ms. Veselnitskaya would arrive with information from Russian prosecutors were rooted at least partly in fact — not mere “puffery,” as the president’s son later said.

Bolding is mine.

Puffery refers to “puffing up” an exaggerated image of what is being described.

The idea that Veselnitskaya’s memo having identical language as Russian Prosecutor General Chaika’s being mere coincidence is something no one believes.

Swampy: No-Bid $300 Million Contract To Small Company In Interior Secretary’s Hometown Smells Fishy

Swampity swamp swamp.

Eyebrows are raised high as folks are getting a look at the contract given to a tiny Montana energy company located in Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s hometown to help restore power in Puerto Rico.

Get this: at the time of Hurricane Maria, Whitefish Energy Holdings had only two employees and had never attempted work on this scale before.

The contract, obtained by The Daily Beast reporter Ken Klippenstein, states “In no event shall [government bodies] have the right to audit or review the cost and profit elements.”

Plus, the agreement dictates that the Puerto Rican government “waives any claim against Contractor related to delayed completion of work.”

What?

As part of the deal, each employee for the company sent to Puerto Rico will be paid $332.41 each day for accommodations. That’s just housing. And another $79.82 for meals – each day.

The majority of Whitefish’s workforce is comprised of subcontractors who are to be paid $462 per hour for a supervisor and $319.04 for a lineman.

The governor of Puerto Rico has ordered an audit into the contract.

One more thing – did I mention Whitefish Energy was founded and run by a man who contributed large sums of money to President Trump?

Whitefish Energy also got off on the wrong foot by criticizing Mayor Cruz of San Juan when she publicly asked a question of the company about “transparency.”

The company’s Twitter account got crunchy with the mayor which led to deleting the snark and issuing an apology.
