Donald Trump took to social media this week to calling on Republicans in Congress to stop federal funding from PBS, calling it a “giant SCAM,” “horrible and completely biased,” and an arm “of the Radical Left Democrat Party.” 
This comes after FCC Chair Brendan Carr launched a phony investigation accusing PBS of running illegal paid commercial advertisements while far-right loon Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) held a hearing accusing PBS of being “anti-American.” Republicans have wanted to defund PBS for decades. In the early 1970s, Fred Rogers (“Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood”) testified before Congress to defend public broadcasting. The attacks haven’t worked in the past because the public values the quality and educational value of PBS programming. I mean – “Sesame Street,” “Great Performances,” “Nova,” “American Masters,” and so many more great shows.
Trump is urging GOP lawmakers to defund PBS “immediately”.
