Trump Calls For New Census That Excludes Migrants – US Constitution Says Otherwise

Donald Trump took to his social media this morning to announce he’s ordered a “new” census of the U.S. that would exclude migrants.

This all has to do with the current redistricting chaos in Texas which Trump demanded in an attempt to hold GOP control of the House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections.

A little lesson on the U.S. Constitution…

Article 1, Section 2 of the US Constitution plainly states that a census will be conducted every ten years with an “actual enumeration of all persons residing in the United States.”

While the framers used the term “citizen” 11 times in the Constitution, in Article 1, Section 2 (3), they specifically said that the census is an enumeration of “persons.”

The 14th Amendment of the Constitution underscores this point, stating: “Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State…”

And so, in accordance to the United States Constitution, the US Census counts everyone including citizens, non-citizen legal residents, non-citizen long-term visitors, illegal immigrants and prisoners in jails.

During an appearance on Fox News last night, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller claimed the 2020 census was “rigged” by Democrats by including migrants in the census (which has always been done).

Why do Republicans hate the U.S. Constitution?
