The Wild & Wacky Herschel Walker Show

Senate wanna-be Hershel Walker flashes a fake police badge during a debate with Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA)

The one and only debate between Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and his Republican challenger, former football player Herschel Walker, took place last night and viewers got pretty much what we expected. Here’s just a few highlights… https://twitter.com/therecount/status/1581069686392995840 Asked by the moderator if the federal government should provide access to health care, Walker responded: “Well, right now, people have coverage for health care. It’s according to what type of coverage do you want. Because if you have an able-bodied job, you’re going to have health care,” said Walker. “But everyone else – have health care is the type of health care you’re going to get. And I think that is the problem.” Note:  Not everyone who has a job is offered employer-sponsored health care. For example, I’m self-employed – I pay for my own health insurance with no assistance. And some who are offered employer-sponsored plans decline them because they can’t afford the premiums. Walker added that Warnock wants people to “depend on the government,” while he wants “you to get off the government health care and get on the health care he’s got.” Note: Warnock, like all members of Congress, is on a government health care plan.

Asked about lowering cost of prescription drugs like insulin, Walker declared that folks who are worried about the high cost of insulin should “eat right.” “I believe in reducing insulin but at the same time, you gotta eat right. I know many people that’s on insulin. Unless you’re eating right, insulin is doing you no good. So you have to get food prices down and you gotta get gas down so you can go get insulin.” (That is the word for word response, folks…) https://twitter.com/HeartlandSignal/status/1581067524161929219 Then there was the moment Sen. Warnock pointed out Walker had lied about being a member of law enforcement, whereupon Walker pulled out a fake police badge. “One thing I’ve not done is I’ve never pretended to be a police officer, and I’ve never threatened a shootout with the police,” said the senator. The ‘shootout’ remark referenced a statement made by Walker according to a 21-year-old police report. Walker responded by pulling out what appeared to be a fake police badge and held it up. The moderators admonished the former athlete for using a prop during the debate saying, “You’re very well aware of the rules, aren’t you?” https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1581066687532527616

Of course, all of this from the same man who says he’s never heard Donald Trump claim the 2020 election was “stolen.” https://twitter.com/AccountableGOP/status/1529104369928785920
