Even though we have to wait until January 4 for a regular Thursday night episode of Will & Grace, NBC is “gracing” us with a special holiday episode on Tuesday, December 5.
Apparently, the fearsome foursome travel back in time to 1912 Manhattan.
Will & Grace’s “A Gay Olde Christmas,” airing the first week of December, starts with Will (Eric McCormack), Grace (Debra Messing)), Karen’s (Megan Mullally) and Jack (Sean Hayes) wishing they could experience the New York city of old, and then by the magic of TV, are transported to 1912 Manhattan via alter egos.
Will will become Billem Van Williams, a wealthy and worldly (read: probably gay) man with exquisite taste married to Fanny Van Williams, who’ll bear an uncanny resemblance to Grace. Megan Mullally, meanwhile, is in an ironic role reversal as Karolyn O’Malley, a dirt poor woman living in a tenement; she takes in a sailor, John Patrick Mcgee (Sean Hayes) who has relationships with men only at sea. This is all right before World War I, a time of great prosperity — for some — and the episode will show how their disparate worlds intersect.
Additionally, there will be a subtle homage to Debbie Reynolds, who played Grace’s mother during the original run of the show.
Will & Grace airs “A Gay Ole Christmas” Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 9/8c on NBC.

Ben Platt, this year’s Tony Award winner for “Best Actor in a Musical” for his star turn in Dear Evan Hansen, makes for a perfectly adorable 23-year-old ADHD twink who finds himself attracted to Eric McCormack’s “Will” this week on Will & Grace.
With the reboot of Will & Grace acknowledging the passage of time, it makes total sense that we would see both Will and Jack explore the idea of dating younger men.
And that’s exactly what we get.
In this clip from Thursday’s upcoming episode, titled “Who’s Your Daddy?,” both men are coping with the angst of not only younger paramours, but coping with their own ages.
Jack attempts various ways to look younger (incorporating some hilarious physical comedy) while Will wonders if it might be “creepy” that he’s getting amorous with a 23-year-old (played by Tony Award winner Ben Platt of Dear Evan Hansen fame).
“So what, they’re young and hot, and we’re old and not. Nothing else matters!” screams Jack. “We need this.”

Returning with wit and grace, iconic 90s sitcom Will & Grace returned to NBC last night.
The original stars – fearsome foursome Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally – deftly proved the chemistry last seen 11 years ago still remains, as does as their audience.
The first episode of what will be at least two more seasons of the landmark Peacock sitcom averaged a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 10 million viewers. That puts it atop all other TV efforts for the night — save CBS’ Thursday Night Football. It also ranked as one of the top entertainment programs of Premiere Week, trailing only The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and This Is Us.
Jumping right into the deep end, last night’s episode showed the writers have no problem addressing the “orange Cheeto in the room,” taking us all on a field trip to the White House.
Grace gets a gig redecorating the Oval Office, Will flirts with a conservative congressman, Jack gets a smooch from a beefy Secret Service agent (hunky Kyle Bornheimer) and Karen kept the boozy clever quips coming.
All in all, it felt like comfort food to have the fab four back.
“We snuck in. We were in your living room every week and, ‘Isn’t that one so funny?’ and ‘I like him.’ Old women that had never met a gay man in their life were like, ‘I hope Will finds a nice boy.’
“It permeated American culture slowly but surely, and all the more reason that we have to come back and remind people that that’s why we got where we got — that’s why we got to a place where gay marriage was passed, that marriage equality was passed as a right in 50 states.”

Monday saw the launch of Megyn Kelly’s Today Show and it seems she’s going to need some time to find her “light-hearted morning show” banter.
Speaking with the cast of Will & Grace, the former Fox News host introduced a superfan of the iconic 90s sitcom, Russel Turner, from the audience.
Things got a bit awkward from the get-go.
“Is it true that you became a lawyer—and you became gay—because of Will?” Kelly asked the excited Turner.
Fortunately, Turner was quick on the fly: “I look at Will Truman, I’m like, ‘He has it made.’ Lawyer, best apartment in New York, and gay? Come on, trifecta.”
After surprising Turner with tickets to Los Angeles to a taping and backstage tour of Will & Grace, Kelly closed out the segment with another graceless turn of phrase: “I don’t know about the lawyer thing, but I think the Will & Grace thing and the gay thing is going to work out great!”
UPDATE: Debra Messing took to her Instagram afterwards to say “Honestly I didn’t know it was MK until that morning. The itinerary just said Today show appearance. Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments.”
She later deleted that comment but several folks screen-capped it.
