Sanders Staffer Fired For Homophobic, Misogynistic Twitter Attacks On Opponents

In another tweet, Mora told his followers he could “never trust Buttigieg because he combined the natural devious disposition inherent in gay men with a bloodthirsty careerist drive.” The Sanders staffer also went after Buttigieg’s husband, Chasten, tweeting, “Chasten Buttigieg has the vibes of a housewife whose slow burning repression is leading to an inevitable psychotic break, mark my words in 10 years he will go missing and then resurface in Ft Lauderdale after getting busted for running a meth racket w a bunch of Guatemalan twinks.”
Mora dragged Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) writing, “When [Sen. Elizabeth] Warren talks about how she knows she’s Native American because of her ‘high cheekbones’ where sis? Another lie. You look like shit.” He also accused her of being “an adult diaper fetishist.” He mocked Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) comparing her face to “that optical illusion where it’s an old lady but also a young woman depending on how you look at it but with her it’s just two different old ladies.” Mora also said Klobuchar “looks like her name: pained, chunky, [and] confused origin/purpose.”
Mora didn’t keep his attacks limited to just his boss’s opponents. He trolled the cast of Netflix’s Queer Eye as “neoliberals,” and said openly gay statistician Nate Silver “starts to make a lot more sense when you realize he is probably the ugliest gay man to ever live.” Another tweet about Buttigieg seemed to allude that Mora might have been running a Twitter account with the username @FagsAgainstPete, which has since been shut down. According to Bixby, screenshots of the tweets were shared with The Daily Beast by one of Mora’s followers hoping their publication would help Sanders to understand how ugly folks on his team can be. Mora apparently joined the Sanders campaign last fall. He locked his Twitter account nearly six months ago so only folks who were already following him could see his tweets. But the avatar for the account clearly shows his face and links to his personal Instagram account. Prior to the publication of the story, Bixby reports the Sanders campaign did not respond to requests for comment on the report. The Sanders campaign has since announced Mora has been fired. A statement from Mike Casca, Sanders’ communications director, read, “We are running a multiracial, multigenerational campaign for justice where disgusting behavior and ugly personal attacks by our staff will not be tolerated.” Sanders was asked about the tone of some of his supporters on Twitter last week during the Democratic debate in Las Vegas. “I’m not going to tell you we don’t have some jerks out there,” Sanders said. “I do want to say to those folks: We do not want your support. If you think that what our campaign is about is making ugly attacks on other candidates, we don’t want you.” Since the report went up on The Daily Beast, Bixby has tweeted he’s been on the receiving end of thousands of attacks.

Video: Sassy Firefighters Shade Anti-LGBTQ Twitter Trolls
When firefighters in the UK added a Pride flag to its Twitter profile last year, the first responders received several ugly, homophobic comments. In response, the South Yorkshire firefighters have clapped back with a cheeky video reciting many of the actual hate tweets they received while rainbow flags, socks, and hats are surreptitiously included in the background. A hunky fireman recites in a droll tone, “I don’t see or understand why you feel the need to celebrate,” as Pride flags wave and confetti rains down. Another fire official tells the camera, “Constantly going on and on about who wants to shag who shouldn’t be a fire service priority,” while an eggplant emoji floats on a TV screen in the background.
In between the mini-scenes, the firefighters make their point with the statement:
LGBT+ people still face prejudice at home and at work. We celebrate LGBT+ pride in solidarity with all those we serve and employ. Fires don’t discriminate, neither do we.
In a statement on the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue website, Chief Fire Officer Alex Johnson wrote, “We fully expect the video will have a mixed reaction but some of the comments we received last year were awful and totally unacceptable.” Johnson explained the heroes had a couple of reasons for producing the video. “Firstly we wanted to support the month and let our staff, and communities, know that we are proud to employ and serve them, regardless of those comments,” said Johnson. “Secondly, we wanted to demonstrate that we are a genuinely inclusive organisation that values the contribution of all our staff, whatever their LGBT+ status.”
Crew Manager Rebecca Savin, who acts as the South Yorkshire Fire Brigades Union LGBT rep said she was “really pleased with the video.” “It’s great that, as an employer, SYFR wants to challenge these comments and stand up for its staff and the people it serves.” Check out the deliciously defiant video below. ≤center>
Last year we got a load of abuse when we added the rainbow flag to our profile picture. We don’t think homophobic abuse is acceptable and we stand with all those LGBT+ people we serve and employ 🏳️🌈 Thanks for the comments… 👍#LGBTHM2020 pic.twitter.com/kwzAvKWUjq

Tweet Of The Day: Rochester Red Wings
Professional Minor League Baseball team, the Rochester Red Wings, held their first-ever Pride Night Tuesday night.
By all accounts, it was a big success.
Almost 10,000 fans in the stands, gorgeous weather and the 3rd largest crowd this season.
Even though the Red Wings lost in the 9th inning, everyone felt like a winner.

But back in May, one Red Wings fan trolled the Pride Night announcement, with a prediction: “I’m betting this will be the lowest attended game of the summer.”
Im betting this will be the lowest attended game of the summer.— JC (@CaCooYankee1) May 29, 2019
At the time, the Red Wings clapped back advising the troll to not bet too much dough on that bet.
You know I love me a sassy pro-LGBTQ Twitter account 🙂
Always a chance I’m wrong,but I doubt it.— JC (@CaCooYankee1) May 29, 2019
And once the tickets were counted, and a good time was had by all, the Red Wings didn’t forget their little Twitter friend.
Which brings me to my favorite tweet of the day:

Twitter Thought Designer Tom Ford Trolled Melania Trump
![]() |
| Tom Ford and First Lady Melania Trump |
Twitter lost its mind this morning when a quote attributed to fashion designer Tom Ford began to circulate wherein he reportedly referred to First Lady Melania Trump as a “glorified escort.”
Slow your roll, Twitter – Tom Terrific never threw that shade.
The quote that went viral was in reference to the designer refusing to dress the First Lady.
“I have no interest in dressing a glorified escort who steals speeches and has bad taste in men,” is how the quote read, but, no source was attributed.
The comment was probably somewhat believable in that Ford did say during a November 2016 appearance on The View that he had ‘declined’ to dress her some years before explaining, “She’s not necessarily my image.”
He went on to add that he felt his clothes were “too expensive” for a First Lady as he believed the wife of a president has to “relate to everybody.”
What Tom Ford actually said about Melania Trump…. pic.twitter.com/hYZKmiJI3L— Yesha (@YeshaCallahan) March 19, 2019
But no – Tom didn’t call Melania a “glorified escort.”
But ’Tom Ford’ was trending on Twitter anyway with Trump supporters calling for a boycott of all things Tom Ford.
And that’s where it got pretty funny.
BEING MEAN SPIRITED IS NOT A GOOD LOOK. I AM RETURNING MY TOM FORD PRODUCTS. THANKS. BYE FELICIA.— DrZoeGrey (@drzoegrey) March 19, 2019

If a bakery can refuse to sell a cake to a gay couple, Tom Ford can refuse to share his art with someone with whom he has a fundamental difference in beliefs. He doesn’t believe in nudie pics, sugar daddies and plagerism. I get it.— GeauxTigers516 (@GeauxTigers516) March 19, 2019
Disney Actor Shuts Down Hater For Trolling Gay Character’s Coming Out
![]() |
| Joshua Ross (second from right) plays ‘Cyrus’ on Disney’s “Andi Mack” |
Earlier this month, I reported that, for the first time, a Disney character had said the words, “I’m gay.”
The moment took place during an episode of the popular Disney Channel series, Andi Mack, when one of the lead characters (Cyrus played by Joshua Rush) came out to his former crush.
The series, Disney’s first to feature a coming out story, has won widespread acclaim and been honored at the GLAAD Media Awards for ‘Outstanding Kids and Family Programming.
This being 2019, however, we do still have to deal with the trolls and haters on social media who can’t stop themselves from bringing darkness to light.
One user criticized the storyline, tweeting to Rush, Disney and the series’ Twitter accounts, “I am very disappointed in the way this show has been directed there are some very good messages through this show for it’s young audience, but introducing gays is a very poor example to the young adults watching this show. Poor choice Disney.”
Rush didn’t hesitate in clapping back at the troll.
“I’m sorry you feel that way,” wrote the 17-year-old actor. “Here’s the thing though: gay kids are gonna exist no matter whether you like it or not. And we need to support and love all kids in every way we can.”
“So when someone realizes they are gay, I want them to identify with something so they’re not alone,” he added.

So when someone realizes they are gay, I want them to identify with something so they’re not alone. https://t.co/Jnt6w5j0Yf— joshua rush (@JoshuaRush) February 17, 2019
Rush also shared a screen capture of the hater’s tweet, which had been deleted, telling the hater, “The internet is forever, you can’t delete a tweet and expect it to be gone lol.”
He added, “It’s fine to have your opinion but we’re just trying to explain how an opinion like that – one that supports LGBTQ+ kids not having a voice – can be really damaging.”

Rush’s calm and thoughtful responses were immediately flooded with support and love by his fans.
And the crowd goes wild!!! Yay!!!
It is an embarrassment that a young man makes more sense than an “adult”. Your thoughtfulness and kindness are appreciated, I wish I had such a good role model when I was in middle school. Success to you in all you do.— Wynnona the Wyse Cat (@wynonnathewyse) February 18, 2019
Josh I love the way you responded to that tweet. You responded with the facts, but politely ( not that I would expect any rudeness to come from you ) and I love that. Letting people know they’re incorrect but not being harsh about it is great. I love uuuu— nicole (@tjstyrus) February 17, 2019
You and this show are doing so much for the LGBTQ+ community. Probably more than you even realize honestly. Your character alone may have saved lives just by existing.— it’s gilderoy (@stirfryedshana) February 17, 2019
If anyone tries to censored gay characters shame on them I’m gay and seeing things like andi mack with cyrus coming out as gay is truly inspirational— Brandon Prime (@brandonprimeuk) February 18, 2019
You see this is why Disney chose you, because you understand.— FRVR (@LewyByrne) February 17, 2019
I’ve been not straight for a very long time. I wish I would have had a show like this when I was younger. I would’ve realized way before I was 20 that what I felt wasn’t bad. What you and this show are doing is amazing. I’m proud of all of you. Love always.— tessa{50} (@nicebergtj) February 17, 2019

Andy Cohen Gets Sassy With Online Trolls After NYE Critiques
![]() |
| Andy Cohen slapped back at his Twitter trolls |
Bravo TV host Andy Cohen received some serious flack for his co-hosting appearance on CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage with Anderson Cooper.
Here’s just a sample:
Damn! @Andy you are the most annoying person I have ever had to listen and watch. Switching right off, turd. #andycohen #CNN #newyears @CNN hurtin’ @andersoncooper @kathygriffin HURTIN’— Michael Bbbbbbbbb (@vinylstat) January 1, 2019
Meow!
Now, I’ll admit Cohen isn’t my cup of tea, either. I find him to be a bit self-serving, self-satisfied and smug most of the time. Pretty much the opposite of BDE.
But, I will say I love a good come-back on social media. And it turns out Mr. Cohen isn’t shy about firing off some sassy slap backs.
So just to add a little balance here on Instinct, here’s a few of Andy Cohen’s more tasty retorts.
First up, actor and right-wing loon James Woods (who has his own rather troublesome dating issues) criticized Cohen and Cooper for the way they handled some celebratory on-air shots.
Wood tweeted video of the men drinking with a sarcastic “Men in 2019…” caption:
Assholes in 2019….. https://t.co/vFLcYSPsf0— Andy Cohen (@Andy) January 1, 2019
Cohen retweeted with his own caption, “Assholes in 2019…).
Boom!
A few more bon mots from Mr. Cohen:
We feel the same about you.— Andy Cohen (@Andy) January 1, 2019
You’re sweet— Andy Cohen (@Andy) January 2, 2019
Why do you folo me?— Andy Cohen (@Andy) January 1, 2019
As long as we embarrass you. That’s our goal. Just you.— Andy Cohen (@Andy) January 2, 2019
Cohen is practically patting this Twitter user on the head:
Ok sweetie— Andy Cohen (@Andy) January 2, 2019
And my favorite comeback by the toothy TV host:
Please do something about your hair before tweeting me again— Andy Cohen (@Andy) January 1, 2019
Kelly Clarkson Claps Back At Anti-LGBT Trolls On Twitter

Do not come for the gays on Kelly Clarkson’s Twitter account or you will be named and shamed.
On Sunday, the ever-and-always American Idol offered congrats to a couple of fans who had just tied the knot.
Congrats you two!! https://t.co/3l3jiq6EPL— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) August 20, 2018
But one fan wasn’t down with Clarkson’s support for same-sex marriage, tweeting, “Sorry Kelly…. love your music but I don’t dig the dikes…still a sin any way you cut it.”

The Voice judge clapped back saying originally she wasn’t going to give the hate a spotlight, but decided the truth was more important.
Clarkson tweeted: “I almost didn’t respond 2 this because hate doesn’t deserve a spotlight but u know what, truth does, & the truth is that God is Love, & Love shared between two people should be praised not condemned in my personal opinion. I love u 2 although we see the world/love differently.”
