The cast of ‘Queer Eye’

Less than 24 hours after receiving 4 Emmy Award nominations for the much-lauded reboot of Queer Eye, Netflix has announced there will be a third season of the ‘make better’ reality show.

The reality show celebrated Emmy nods in the categories of Structured Reality Program, Casting, Picture Editing and Cinematography. It’s hard to believe its been 14 years since the groundbreaking series was honored with its first Emmy win for Best Reality Show.

According to Deadline, production for season three will shift from Atlanta, Georgia to begin in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 16.

All of the ‘Fab Five’ co-hosts – Antoni Porowski (Food & Wine), Bobby Berk (Interior Design), Karamo Brown (Culture), Jonathan Van Ness (Grooming) and Tan France (Fashion) – will be back to help more heroes be their best selves.

The new season is scheduled for 2019, but you can watch all of season 1 and 2 now on Netflix.

Queer Eye Fashion Guru’s Family Thought The Show Converted Straight Men To Gay

Queer Eye’s fashion guru, Tan France, revealed recently that his family originally refused to watch the ‘make better’ reality series because they thought it was a ‘gay conversion program.’

Queer Eye’s fashion guru, Tan France, revealed recently that his family originally refused to watch the ‘make better’ reality series because they thought it was a ‘gay conversion program.’

Speaking on fellow QE cast member Jonathan Van Ness’ Getting Curious podcast, the fashion expert explained the tensions Tan has had with his family since coming out.

His family didn’t approve of homosexuality and refused to attend his wedding 10 years ago. When he shared the happy news of his impending nuptials, his family didn’t even want to know his fiancé’s name.

Coming from a very religious Pakistani-Muslim family – he attended mosque every day from the time he was 4-years-old until he was 15 – Tan says coming out had a huge impact on his life.

“When I came out, I did feel somewhat relieved because I don’t think I’d have the life I would have now,” says the 35-year-old.

It was when Queer Eye was about to air that he informed them, “You’re going to see what my life is.”

But his mother and siblings didn’t initially watch the program thinking it about converting straight men to gay. “They thought I was going around the country and encouraging people to be homosexual,” shared Tan.

But once they began watching they said, “Oh my gosh, it’s so much better than we ever expected. You made us so proud. You’re just who you are”.

Tan now credits the series with helping to improve his relationship with his family. “Every time we Skype now, they ask about [husband] Robin,” says Tan. “For 10 years, they’ve literally never said his name.”

Chalk up one more success story for the ‘Fab 5.’

Season 2 of Queer Eye is now streaming on Netflix.

Loving The New ‘Queer Eye’ Theme Remix Featuring Betty Who

Betty Who & the ‘Fab 5’

Earlier this year, Netflix brought the gay-tastic ‘make-better’ show Queer Eye back in a fabulous reboot celebrated by critics.

With warmth and humor (and lots of style), the series put a spotlight on social issues that focus on the LGBTQ community, but also issues of religion, racism, and police brutality.

The ‘Fab 5’ are back on June 15, but you don’t have to wait that long for new QE.

Series stars Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Bobby Berk and Karamo Brown teamed up to get down with Aussie electro-pop star Betty Who for a music video of the remixed “All Things,” the groovy theme song of hit Netflix series.

And it’s just a bit of boyband heaven. Hot, pure colors, high-fashion lighting; a beat to bop to; and Antoni in crop top after crop top after crop top.

Netflix Set To Slay With Animated Series “Super Drags” – Wigs Will Be Snatched!

Get ready for “Super Drags” from Netflix

I’m not usually one for animated series, nor am I the biggest drag fan, but I find I like most of what Netflix offers so I’m gonna give this a try.

The streaming service shared a teaser video today to announce it’s new animated series, Super Drags.

The five episode-series, scheduled for the second half of 2018, will chronicle the adventures of superhero drag queens.

From the YouTube description: “During the day, they work in a department store and deal with their uptight bitchy boss. By night, they tighten up their corsets and transform into the baddest SUPER DRAGS in town, ready to combat shade and rescue the world’s glitter from the evil villains. Get ready, because the SUPER DRAGS are going deeper than you think.”

Brazilian website CosmoNerd has more details (via Google translation):

“Super Drags is another powerful and proud addition to the diversity of Brazilian originals from Netflix and brings us the adventures of three young people with a super normal life … during the day, Patrick, Donny and Ramon work in a department store. With annoying customers and a picky boss. At night, they release their inner divas to become Lemon Chiffon, Cran’s Sapphire and Crimson Scarlet: three incredibly fabulous Super Drags who have been recruited to gather the LGBT community and spread glitter in the world.”

I wonder if a certain “Super Model of the world” might make an appearance…?

After a successful reboot of the Queer Eye brand on Netflix earlier this year, we don’t have to wait long for the arrival of Season 2 now scheduled to debut on the streaming service June 15.

The Fab 5 – Bobby Berk (interior design), Kamaro Brown (culture), Tan France (fashion), Antoni Porowski (food/wine), and Jonathan Van Ness (grooming) – will all be back to help America laugh, cry and just plain feel better.

A new cover story for Entertainment Weekly reveals 35-year-old Brit and fashion expert France, a Muslim who currently lives in Salt Lake City with his husband, almost didn’t take the gig. “I hadn’t seen any people like me on TV before, and I definitely didn’t want to be the first one. I didn’t want that responsibility on my head.”

The fears eventually subsided, and, he says, “I couldn’t be more grateful.”

For the first time, season 2 will feature a transgender man on the make-better show.

Van Ness says, “One of my closest friends is a trans man who is incredible. And a lot of my clients are trans women. So I am really hoping that we can do right by our trans brothers and sisters. [Skyler] is going through so much, so [it was important to be] gentle and respectful and not to be a queenie know-it-all dum-dum when you’re trying to be a loving person.”

Jennifer Aniston is heading to the White House in Netflix’s upcoming comedy, First Ladies.

Netflix has announced that Jennifer Aniston and comedian Tig Notaro are set to star in the political comedy playing the most powerful couple in the world: president and first lady. Aniston will play POTUS and Notaro will play FLOTUS.

We’ve seen a few female presidents in movies and TV up to now, but never a lesbian couple taking up residence at the most famous address in the world.

The project was pitched by Notaro and her wife Stephanie Allynne, who will also write the screenplay.

According to the log line, “First Ladies is a political comedy about America’s first female President and her wife, The First Lady. When Beverly and Kasey Nicholson move into the White House, they’ll prove that behind every great woman… is another great woman.”

While the script hasn’t been written yet, the streaming network has already lined-up producers including Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, Adam McKay, and Betsy Koch as well as Aniston and Notaro.

Trailer: Series Finale Of Netflix’ SENSE8

Netflix serves up the final trailer for the final episode (sniff) of the beloved sci-fi series, Sense8.

For one final mission, our sensates will gather for the beginning of the end and it’s sure to have evoke plenty of feelings.

The sci-fi drama, created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, chronicles the adventures a diverse group of people who become psychically intertwined, known as sensates. Linked emotionally and mentally linked to one another, the group finds they can access each others’ strengths and abilities in times of crisis.

But the sensates quickly found themselves hunted by dark forces. And with that, we were off to the races.

Have I mentioned I loved the series?

Critics and fans alike heaped the praise on the series for its wide-ranging diversity: gender, sexuality, politics, religion… Two same-sex couples, transgender folks, everyone was represented here.

On June 8, we get to see our heroes assemble for good one last time.

Don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here crying as I watch the trailer on repeat.
