Trump Campaign Manager: “I Can’t Support Someone Who Lies For A Living”

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway did the “friendly face-off” with HBO’s Bill Maher this past Friday night.

Maher and Conway are friends of over 20 years, and it shows it the back and forth.

Maher welcomed Conway by telling her she is “enabling pure evil,” and spent part of the segment calling out false things Trump has said. The comedian joked, “I don’t have time to go through all of his lies, we only have an hour.”

But Conway, a “Real Time” veteran, had plenty of counterarguments ready. She accused Maher of cherrypicking examples, and, after pointing out that Hillary Clinton is falling in the polls, said, “I actually think we’re going to win, Bill. You know it. You feel it. I think you’re getting nervous.”

“Oh, I am getting nervous,” Maher quipped, “but it’s not because Trump is good. It’s because people are stupid.”

CNN Anchor Asks For Proof Donald Trump Is Being Audited

Now here’s something we haven’t seen before.

For a year, Donald Trump has told the media that he would be happy to release his tax returns save for the fact he’s being audited by the IRS.

The IRS has said repeatedly that their office has no problem with him releasing his tax returns. Trump maintains that after the audit is complete he will release them.

Of course, he could release earlier returns like from the year 2008 which is not being audited. Trump declines to release anything.

Today, CNN New Day  anchor Alisyn Camerota asked again when the tax returns would be released. Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway repeated “after the audit.”

But then something unusual happened, in a followup question Camerota asked if the campaign would provide some kind of documentation that an audit is actually occurring.

“Has Donald Trump, or will he, release anything from the IRS — a letter from the IRS — proving that he’s under audit?”

Conway had to ask Camerota to repeat the question, clearly needing to buy time to figure out what to say.

She eventually came up with this: “I don’t know. Why? In other words — why, why are you — Are you calling him a liar? Are you calling him a liar?”

Trump Campaign Manager: It’s A Shame Hillary Clinton Never Wants To Share Thoughts On Policy

This is the kind of “spin” that slips by folks who aren’t huge political junkies day in, day out.

Kellyanne Conway, campaign manager for Donald Trump, makes this odd comment during a segment on MSNBC regarding the upcoming presidential debates:

“I think people who actually want to know what Hillary Clinton thinks about the issues literally have to tune into those debates to watch it. And I think that’s a shame that people have to wait until September 26, here in New York, to listen to what Hillary Clinton believes, unless you want to go to the website and click, what she believes on different policies.”

As everyone knows, Clinton is the ultimate policy wonk. It would make her happy to talk about nothing else.

Conway, trying to pretend that Clinton never addresses policy, is one of the most absurd things I’ve seen in a long time.

It’s like saying what a shame it is that I never drink wine…

I honestly don’t think Donald Trump’s campaign manager knows who she’s working for.

As I say over and over, I can only hope she’s getting paid a TON of money to embarrass herself like this.

According to many in political circles, she’s very well regarded. At least before she took on this challenge.

Trump Campaign Says Polling Skewed Because It’s Trendy To Oppose Trump

The Trump campaign is now telling folks, like the UK’s Channel 4, that presidential polling showing Donald Trump trailing Democrat Hillary Clinton isn’t accurate because it’s become gauche to be a professed Trump supporter these days.

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway told the UK’s Channel 4 that Donald Trump is actually winning the election, but every poll is wrong because Trump voters are undercover.

Conway denied on the Channel 4 special “President Trump: Can He Really Win?” that Trump was losing and denounced the polls that showed him down to Hillary Clinton as “cherry-picked polling numbers that are put out there by media outlets that are also bent on his destruction.”

“Donald Trump performs consistently better in online polling where a human being is not talking to another human being about what he or she may do in the election,” she argued. “It’s because it’s become socially desirable, if you’re a college educated person in the United States of America, to say that you’re against Donald Trump.”

“The hidden Trump vote in this country is a very significant proposition,” she insisted.

“Have you been able to put a number on that?” asked the Channel 4 interviewer.

“Yes,” Conway responded confidently.

“What do you think that is?”

“I can’t discuss it,” she said. “It’s a project we’re doing internally. I call it the undercover Trump voter, but it’s real.”

Very interesting spin. I find it very hard to believe that, given the “out and proud” Trump crazies, that there are enough “undercover Trump voters” to really skew every major poll in the country for a month.

Trump Campaign Manager: Trump Does “Hurl Insults” But It’s The Victim’s Fault

Donald Trump’s new campaign manager (is this version 3.0?) Kellyanne Conway sat down with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly to chat on several Trumpian topics, including his penchant for insulting folks he doesn’t like via the campaign stump and Twitter.

After Conway told the media this past Sunday that Trump “doesn’t hurl personal insults,” Megyn Kelly had to call Conway out.

After Trump took to Twitter to slam Mika Brzezinski as “neurotic” and call her the “very insecure long-time girlfriend” of co-host Joe Scarborough, Fox News host Megyn Kelly recounted how Conway had argued Trump doesn’t employ personal attacks.

“Now, you know that’s not true,” Kelly said on her show.

Conway replied that Trump “doesn’t do it without being attacked first,” a well-worn defense Trump himself has used since his campaign’s infancy.

“But does that excuse it? Just today he called Mika Brzezinski neurotic, which is another term, basically, for mentally ill,” the Fox News host responded. “He’s called other female news personalities things like crazy. The man does hurl personal insults.”

“But not unprompted,” Conway said.

It’s always interesting the language games these surrogates play. Note how Kellyanne won’t say that Trump will “deport all 11 million undocumented immigrants.” She’s clearly dodging a word or phrase that she doesn’t want uttered on record. And while she gets away with it, the viewer sees that she’s dodging. And that throws up a flag.

The questions about insults starts at the 6:50 mark, but I think the full interview is worth watching.

Trump Campaign Manager: Donald Trump “Doesn’t Hurl Personal Insults”

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, with an absolutely straight face, told George Stephanopoulos on ABC news’ “This Week” that her candidate “doesn’t hurl personal insults.”

I nearly spit out my coffee when I heard her say it.

Umm, do we all remember “Little Marco,” “Lyin Ted,” “Crooked Hillary,” saying Sen. John McCain isn’t a war hero…? I could go on and on.

Here’s the clip. Bless Kellyanne for her acting ability. On my best day in the theater I couldn’t have delivered this line without laughing.

Conway also raised eyebrows in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash when asked about a meeting Trump had with a Hispanic advisory council yesterday. According to Buzzfeed, Trump spoke about a “humane and efficient” way to cope with undocumented immigrants in the country, which which Buzzfeed interpreted as a way to legalize some of those currently in the U.S. illegally.

When Bash brought up Trump’s often discussed “deportation force” which he has said would send undocumented immigrants back to their country of origin, Conway seemed to soften the Trump position: “To be determined.”

Trump’s immigration position has been a cornerstone of his campaign from day one. It’ll be interesting to see how his ardent supporters accept this “massaging” of his original policy.

Trump Campaign Manager: I’m White And I Was Moved By Trump’s Outreach To Black Voters

Earlier this week, GOP White House hopeful Donald Trump raised eyebrows with his appeal to African-American voters.

The outreach was based on the notion that black voters “can’t do any worse” than they have with Democrats – an odd way to ask for votes.

It was also interesting that he made the statement in a Michigan town that is 94% white. There were practically no faces of color in the audience.

This morning on ABC News’ This Week, George Stephanopoulos told new Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway that a great number of voters were offended by Trump’s wide generalization of poverty in the African-American community. In a strange response,  Conway explained that she lives in a white community and she was “moved” by his comments.

STEPHANOPOULOS: As you know — you were just talking about that. But many in the African American community saw that as insulting because they say most African Americans don’t live in poverty and that Mr. Trump was making those comments in communities that are more than 90 percent white.

CONWAY: Those comments are for all Americans. And I live in a white community. I’m white. I was very moved by his comment. In other words, he is trying to tell Americans that we can do better. And the thing that he said that I think got a great deal of resonance is that maybe Hillary Clinton looks at you as voters as your — takes you for granted. I look at you as people.
