Rapper 50 cent says he's never been homophobic; that some of his language reflects the lines of the times not his views on homosexuality.

“I don’t have homophobia. I never did.  When you actually make music that mirrors the environment, you use the terminology. You use the language. Like if you were making a painting, and you were painting the American flag, if I told you to do that, and not use red, not use the harsh terms or the tougher messages, you would never successfully paint the flag.”

“I would use the terminology that would be going around. My grandfather may say terms… people may actually say terms based on their experiences that were happening at that point.  You’ve got people that would call some people a redneck, or some people n*gger. It’s the term of that time or that period. They’re not necessarily racist, but they’ve heard those terms used around them, and they use them.” – 50 cent in an interview with The Wrap saying he embraces the LGBT community

Pat Robertson: Gays use special rings to infect people with AIDS

SRSLY?

A question was asked during Pat Robertson’s TV Show “The 700 Club” about the possibly of being infected with AIDS by driving an elderly man with the disease to Sunday services at church.

From The 700 Club:

“You know what they do in San Francisco? Some of the gay community there, they want to get people. So, if they’ve got the stuff, they’ll have a ring. You shake hands and the ring’s got a little thing where you cut your finger,” Robertson said in the video. “Really. I mean it’s that kind of vicious stuff, which would be the equivalent of murder.”

Not only does Robertson assert that infected gays walk around San Francisco with special, sharp rings meant to cut and infect people with AIDS, but he says the “homosexual community” has put draconian laws in place to keep anyone from discussing HIV/AIDS….?

Newark Mayor Cory Booker – “I want to challenge people on their homophobia”

“I love seeing on Twitter when someone says I’m gay, and I say, ‘So what does it matter if I am? So be it. I hope you are not voting for me because you are making the presumption that I’m straight.’” – New Jersey mayor and US Senatorial candidate Cory Booker in an interview with the Washington Post, saying he wants to challenge people on their homophobia.

Robbie Rogers talks to MTV about coming out

Robbie Rogers recently visited the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, where he chatted with MTV Act  about his decision to come out publicly.

Hearing homophobic rantings when he was young, not directed towards him, made coming out seem like something he’d never do. However, after he told his family last October via Skype, he describes coming out as “the best feeling” he’s ever had.

“Now for the first time in my life, everything’s normal”

Rogers also talked about activism, saying that everyone has reached out to him to tie his name to different charities. He said he “wanted to do something that is bigger than homophobia and bigger than sports.”

With his new motivational campaign, Beyond It, Rogers plans to move “beyond” stereotypes in homophobia, sexism, disabilities, and racism. Beyond It will launch at the end of July.

The athlete also shared that he thinks opponents of marriage equality and allowing openly gay men to serve as leaders in the Boy Scouts will soon be embarrassed about their opinions. Watch him discuss below.

“Whatever happened to manhood?”

According to Coach Dave, we’ve been “sissified” by gay marriage and feminazis. He seems to think manhood is about something he saw on TV or in the movies.

I think he’s wrong.

Imaginary Couples campaign to address homophobia

Pink News reports on a new campaign to address homophobia:

Two male French Olympic swimmers have posed in an intimate shot as an “imaginary couple”, as part of a campaign to tackle homophobia, which also features images of Eva Longoria and Lara Fabian. Florent Manaudou and Frédérick Bousquet, posed in the photo, taken by Olivier Ciappa, who also started the campaign.

The project is called “imaginary couples”, and includes shots of other models, featuring the caption: “A peaceful look on homosexuality”, and features the “couples” asleep in each other’s arms, or in intimate, happy situations.

Paris: Gay couple beaten in homophobic attack

A Paris gay couple were brutally beaten this weekend. French gay rights groups say the recent protests against same-sex marriage have led to a rise in anti-gay physical attacks.

According to [Wilfred] de Bruijn, he was attacked with his boyfriend in the 19th arrondissement of Paris on Saturday night simply because they were gay. France’s gay rights groups say the savage beating comes as homophobic incidents are on the rise.

They blame the increasingly radical and stubborn anti-gay marriage movement.

Hours after being subjected to the beating, De Bruijn put the photo on his Facebook page. It has since been shared thousands of times across social media.

“Sorry to show you this,” the victim wrote. “It’s the face of homophobia. Last night 19th arr Paris, Olivier and I were badly beaten up just for walking arm in arm. I woke up in an ambulance covered in blood, missing tooth and broken bones around the eye. I’m home now. Very sad. Olivier takes care of me. Forbidden to work for at least 10 days.”

Magic Johnson speaks to TMZ about supporting his gay son

Harvey Levin of TMZ sat down with Magic Johnson for a lengthy interview about his openly gay son, EJ.

Johnson also talks about the hate EJ received on various blogs after coming out and homophobia in the Black community.

Said Johnson: “I think this is gonna be good for a lot of young Black people who want to come out. EJ is really gonna help a lot of young people.”

Johnson also talks about what would happen if a gay player came out on the L.A. Dodgers.

“I would protect him. That’s what I am. I’m a protector. I protect my family. That’s why I was really upset about people attacking my son…First of all, as an owner you really got to support the person, and then help educate the public. We stand with this player. We’re going to support this player.”

Quebec launches 5 year anti-homophobia campaign

From GlobalNews: A public display of affection between a couple shouldn’t usually elicit a reaction from people.

But what if those engaging in that passionate smooch are a same-sex couple?

The Quebec government has launched a unique advertising campaign designed to get the province thinking about just how open-minded it really is when it comes to homosexuality.

The TV, radio and web campaign shows routine, everyday scenes in which the viewer has no idea until the end that the ad is about sexual orientation.

The ads were developed by Cossette Communications in Quebec City over the past year. They’re part of a $7.1 million, five-year anti-homophobia campaign by the provincial government.
