Vice-President Joe Biden Says He’ll Decide On 2016 Candidacy By Mid-2015

At an event hosted by Politico, Vice-president Joe Biden says he will make an announcement about a possible run for prez by late Spring/Early Summer 2015.

From The Hill:

“I honest to God haven’t made up my mind,” Biden said at a ‘Women Rule’ event hosted by Politico. “I’m confident I’d be in a position to be competitive.”

“The one thing that moves me — I think that I have the ability to bring the sides together,” he added.

Every major poll shows Biden trailing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination by a huge margin.

A recent CNN poll showed Clinton at 65% among Democrats in the poll; Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) trailed at 10%, and Biden third at 9%.

Newest #Benghazi Investigation By GOP-led House Shows No Wrongdoing By Obama Administration

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is acting like a child who was just told there is no Santa Claus over the new GOP-led House Benghazi report which cleared the Obama administration of any wrongdoing in its response to the Benghazi attack.

“I think the report is full of crap,” Graham said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Even though this is the sixth government report on Benghazi which essentially clears members of the administration, Graham holds fast to the idea that officials in the White House altered the Benghazi talking points after the attack.

During his Sunday appearance on CNN, host Gloria Borger told Graham that the House report concludes that the administration received bad information at first and did not lie.

“That’s a bunch of garbage,” Graham shot back. “That’s a complete bunch of garbage.”

While Republicans desperately want to use the Benghazi tragedy against Hillary Clinton in the upcoming 2016 presidential campaign, the latest investigation by the GOP-led House again shows there’s no “there” there:

Similar to five other government reports, the one released by the House Intelligence Committee on Friday said that the administration had not intentionally misled the public about what occurred during the attacks in talking points it created for officials to use in television appearances that turned out to be inaccurate.

It also said that no order was given by the military to “stand down” in responding to try to save the four Americans killed in the attacks, a claim that Republicans have made based on the account of a member of the security team in Benghazi that day.

“The effort to turn the Benghazi tragedy into a political scandal never had a factual basis,” said David Brock, founder of Correct the Record, a group that defends Mrs. Clinton in the news media, and author of the e-book “The Benghazi Hoax.”

“The Republican committee report should close the case,” he added. “If the scandal persists into 2016, it will only be for partisan reasons.”

Rand Paul Says Hillary Clinton Is Too Old To Run For President

Sen. Rand Paul

Sen Rand Paul did himself no favors when speaking to Politico recently about Hillary Clinton’s possible run for president in 2016.

“I think all the polls show if she does run, she’ll win the Democrat nomination. But I don’t think it’s for certain. It’s a very taxing undertaking to go through. It’s a rigorous physical ordeal, I think, to be able to campaign for the presidency.”

It’s not clear if Paul thinks women in their late 60s can’t handle the campaign trail, or if it’s just Democratic women, or if it’s just Hillary. Lately, Paul has been very aggressive about targeting the former secretary of state.

Even the folks over at Fox News thought the comment went too far.

Fox’s Neil Cavuto was critical of the attack on Clinton’s age, pointing out that she would be the same age as Reagan was on inauguration day, adding that the senator did his own potential GOP candidacy “damage with that condescending swipe.”

Even Paul’s father, former congressman Ron Paul, who ran for prez himself was 77 at the time.

Hillary Clinton at the 2014 Harkin Steak Fry

With her husband Bill Clinton at her side, Hillary Clinton greeted Iowa with a warm and full-throated “I’m back” at the 37th (and final) Harkin Steak Fry hosted by retiring Sen. Tom Harkin.

“When Tom Harkin called and asked me to come, I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what to say. I’ve got a few things on my mind these days,” Hillary said, then acknowledging her quickly approaching status as grandmother.

Then, she alluded to the obvious:

“Then of course there’s that other thing,” she said. “It is true, I am thinking about it. But for today, that is not why I’m here. I’m here for the steak.”

In a nod to her former boss, Hillary said, ” It does really feel just like yesterday when I was last here at the Harkin Steak Fry. As I recall, there was a young Senator from Illinois there at the same time. And I wonder whatever happened to him?”

Hillary recently indicated that she is, indeed, considering another run, but won’t announce until January 2015.

I should state here and for future reference: Hillary is my girl. She was my vote in 2008; she’s my vote in 2016. I believe in her and I like her fairly moderate positions. I think she’s smart; I think she inspires; I think she is uniquely qualified to be President.

Go Hillary.

Hillary Clinton solves peace at Old MacDonald’s Farm on The Colbert Report

Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance last night on The Colbert Report as Stephen Colbert offered his doubts that Clinton had actually met all the people she mentions in her new book Hard Choices.

The segment became a “battle of the dropped names” as Colbert and Clinton countered each other with the famous folk they knew.

Clinton also offered a very diplomatic approach to keeping peace at Old MacDonald’s Farm:

“First, I’d try to find common ground between ducks and horses – for instance, they both grew up on Old MacDonald’s Farm. Then, I’d establish a timetable to achieve meaningful horse-duck dialogue. Stephen, I’m convinced that with patience and a strong commitment from our allies, the pigs and the geese, we’d have peace, peace here, peace there, here a peace there a peace everywhere a peace, peace,” Hillary says, giving her best diplomatic version of “Old MacDonald Had A Farm.”

CNN Poll: No clear GOP front-runner; Hillary leads on Dem side by 57 points

A new CNN/ORC International poll shows no clear front-runner for the GOP nomination for President in 2016.

According to the poll, this is the stacking order at present:

13% Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey
12% Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky
12% Former Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas
11% Gov. Rick Perry of Texas
11% Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin
8% Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush
8% Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas
6% Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida
5% Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin
3% Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania

So – no clear front-runner at all.

On the Democrats side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton still holds an enormous lead over other possible candidates:

67% Hillary Clinton
10% Sen. Elizabeth Warren
8% Vice-President Biden

The poll also asked the question “Suppose that for some reason a presidential election were being held today and you had to choose between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. Who would you be more likely to vote for?” The answer? Given a do-over, 53% would choose Mitt Romney and 44% would choose Obama.

However, kind of a false question as a LOT of presidents might see their histories rewritten given the same rhetorical question: Carter, Nixon, George W…. None of those guys would have been elected if the electorate was given the chance to look back than forward.

Plus, Romney has not had to prove anything from the Oval Office. So, it’s a lot easier for folks to “imagine” a different result but it does’t make it true.

Last point of interest in the poll – if Hillary and Romney were to run against the other, Hillary would win in a landslide 55%-42%.
