Fox News On Kellyanne Conway: “We Don’t Quote (Conway) Much Anymore Because, Well, History…”

At the top of his newscast today, Fox News’ Shep Smith had this to say about White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway:

”Kellyanne Conway, whom we really don’t quote much anymore because, well, history…”

That was in reference to Conway’s claim yesterday that microwave ovens turn into cameras and that’s “just a fact of modern life:”

Smith followed with:

“Counselor Kellyanne Conway, who’s previous words have been, well, up for debate…”

“Microwaves do not turn into cameras. Fox News can now confirm microwaves heat food. Cameras take pictures. Microphones don’t have cameras. And microphones can’t turn into cameras. Fox News now confirms.”

Trump: I’ve Done Just About More Than Anybody In The First 4 Weeks In Office

President Trump, speaking to his besties at Fox News, explained this morning that he’s “done just about more than anybody in the first four weeks in office.”

Of course, at this point in President Obama’s first term he had expanded health care to 4 million kids and cut taxes for 160 million Americans.

Trump has issued executive orders and spent three out of four weekends away from the White House golfing at a cost of $10 million to the nation’s taxpayers.

With his approval numbers languishing in the low 40s/high 30s (currently 42% according to Gallup), Trump had more self-praise to deliver to his fawning friends at Fox News:

Shep Smith Defends CNN Again: “CNN’s Reporting Is Not Fake News”

Yet again, Fox News’ Shepard Smith took to the airwaves today to defend CNN after White House press secretary Sean Spicer excluded CNN and others from a closed door press “gaggle.”

“For the record, ‘fake news’ refers to stories that are created, often by entities pretending to be news organizations, solely to draw clicks and views and are based on nothing of substance.

“In short, fake news is made up nonsense delivered for financial gain. CNN’s reporting was not fake news. Its journalists followed the same standards to which other news organizations, including Fox News, adhere.”

Fox News’ Chris Wallace To Reince Priebus: “You Don’t Get To Tell Us What To Do Any More Than Obama Did”

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus got into a heated discussion this morning with Fox News’ Chris Wallace over the media coverage being biased against President Donald Trump.

From Mediaite:

Priebus expressed his frustration with news outlets running untrue stories about the White House and Russia. He also railed against the use of anonymous sources and said the reports about Trump advisors being in “constant contact” with Russian intel officers and that the intel community allegedly withholding information from the president are both inaccurate.

Wallace circled back to the press issue and said there’s nothing wrong with criticizing media bias, but Trump’s tweet went well beyond that. “We don’t have a state-run media in this country,” Wallace said. “That’s what they have in dictatorships.”

Priebus pointed to breathless scandal coverage compared to the minimal coverage given to the administration’s accomplishments so far. Wallace pushed back on that assessment and told Priebus this:

“You don’t get to tell us what to do any more than Barack Obama did. Barack Obama whined about Fox News all the time, but I gotta say, he never said we were an enemy of the people.”

Reince really gets into “cry baby” mode here. Interesting that at one point Priebus backs himself up with a quote from an unnamed source, and when asked who that was Priebus says, “I’m not going to tell you.”

But it’s wrong for the media to use unnamed sources? #DoAsISayNotAsIDo

Fox News’ Shepard Smith Defends Media From Trump: ‘Demonstrably, Unquestionably, 100 Percent False’

Just goes to show you there are fair and balanced journalists at Fox News.

Of course it would be the gay news anchor 🙂

The Week has the details:

President Donald Trump praised Fox News during his combative press conference Thursday, but he certainly would not have liked what he saw if he turned on his TV afterward.

Fox News’ Shep Smith did not hold back when tearing into the president after the presser: “It’s crazy what we’re watching everyday,” Smith said. “It’s absolutely crazy. [Trump] keeps repeating throwaway lines that are not true at all and sort of avoiding this issue of Russia as if we’re some kind of fools for asking the question.”

As Smith went on, it appeared to occur to him that the president could be watching. He turned to stare directly into the camera and began to address Trump directly: “No sir,” Smith said. “We are not fools for asking the question and we demand to know the answer to this question. You owe this to the American people.”

Fox News Defends CNN: No Journalists Should Be ‘Belittled’ By A President

In a bit of surprise, Fox News’ Shep Smith issued a statement today on behalf of Fox News defending CNN for the report it posted last night regarding a collection of what appeared to be “opposition ammo” meant to possibly attack Donald Trump during the presidential campaign. The main point being that CNN’s reporting was “distinctly different” from BuzzFeed’s which drew Trump’s ire.

CNN’s story, unlike Buzzfeed’s, specifically did not include the unedited dossier of unverified allegations made about Trump’s ties to Russia. Nor did CNN include any “details” of the items from the report. Smith added that no journalists should be treated in the way Trump treated CNN’s Jim Acosta, who got into a brief contretemps with Trump today at the president-elect’s first press conference since last summer.

Trump refused to take any questions from Acosta today despite continued requests, and Acosta later shared that Trump’s press secretary threatened to have him thrown out of future press events if he continued to press the president-elect.

Here’s part of Smith’s statement today:

“President-elect Trump today told CNN’s Jim Acosta that his organization amounts to fake news. CNN’s exclusive reporting on the Russian matter was separate and distinctly different from the document dump executed by an online news property.

“Though we at FOX News cannot confirm CNN’s report, it is our observation that its correspondents followed journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the President-elect of the United States.”

Fox News To Jill Stein: “There’s Not A Chance In The World” A Recount Will Change The Election

Things got really heated today on Fox News Sunday as host Chris Wallace challenged Green Party presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein on her ongoing mission to see the results of the election recounted in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Said Wallace, “There’s not a chance in the world here, Dr. Stein, that the vote is going to change in those three states.”

I honestly don’t understand why conservatives are so adverse to a recount.

The money has been raised by private citizens, it’s not costing the American taxpayer anything, and it’s legal. Plus, for weeks Donald Trump ranted that the “system was rigged.” Just this week he asserted that there were “millions” of illegal votes in other states.

So  what’s so bad about looking into these issues?

I don’t believe a recount will change the outcome of the election, but I do agree with Dr. Stein that irregularities will always lead to questions unless we actually audit results in our elections.

What harm could there be?

And one more thing – Wallace asserts that Stein is doing exactly what Trump declared before the election in that he said he may or may not accept the results of the election.

The difference between the two is that Trump was saying he might not accept results based on nothing that had happened yet. Stein is acting now, in a perfectly legal manner, based on the research of computer experts who have seen irregularities that don’t seem to make sense. Trump’s statements before the election are not the same as Stein’s after.

Fox News Poll: Hillary Clinton’s Lead Grows To 7 Points

The latest Fox News poll shows Democrat Hillary Clinton opening a wider margin against her Republican opponent, Donald Trump.

The survey, taken from October 10-12, gives Clinton 45% support versus Trump’s 38%. That’s a 4 point drop for Trump from last week.

Libertarian Gary Johnson is still in single digits (7%), while Green Party candidate Jill Stein gets 3%.

Today’s projection by super-stats guy Nate Silver gives Hillary an 86% chance of winning the White House race.

Fox News Will Pay $20 Million Settlement To Gretchen Carlson In Sexual Harassment Suit

This seems to be a very quick resolution to Gretchen Carlson’s sexual harassment lawsuit against Fox News head Roger Ailes.

You have to imagine the evidence was very strong.

Fox News has agreed to pay former news host Carlson $20 million in the sexual-harassment lawsuit she filed against cable-news channel founder Roger Ailes just two months ago.

Since Carlson came forward, several other women at Fox News have made their own statements backing Carlson’s experience of harassment.

Although he’s been relieved of his duties, Ailes still claims he’s innocent of the charges.

Fox News issued this statement:

“21st Century Fox is pleased to announce that it has settled Gretchen Carlson’s lawsuit.

“During her tenure at Fox News, Gretchen exhibited the highest standards of journalism and professionalism.

“She developed a loyal audience and was a daily source of information for many Americans. We are proud that she was part of the Fox News team.

“We sincerely regret and apologize for the fact that Gretchen was not treated with the respect and dignity that she and all of our colleagues deserve.”

In related news, Greta Van Susteren has quit the network effective immediately after 14 years with Fox News.

UPDATE: And now Gretchen Carlson has issued her own statement:

“I am gratified that 21st Century Fox took decisive action after I filed my complaint. I’m ready to move on the next chapter of my life in which I will redouble my efforts to empower women in the workplace. I want to thank all the brave women who came forward to tell their own stories and the many people across the country who embraced and supported me in their #StandWithGretchen. All women deserve a dignified and respectful workplace in which talent, hard work and loyalty are recognized, revered and rewarded.”
