Elton John to perform in Russia – “I’ve got to go”

Mega superstar Elton John has announced he will honor a concert date in Russia later this year in spite of recent anti-gay “propaganda” laws:

The 66-year-old gay singer told The Guardian that the show must go on in Moscow this December, in order to support his LGBT fans who might be suffering “in an isolated situation.”

“I’ve got to go,” John said. “And I’ve got to think about what I’m going to say very carefully. There’s two avenues of thought: Do you stop everyone going, ban all the artists coming in from Russia? But then you’re really leaving the men and women who are gay and suffering under the antigay laws in an isolated situation. As a gay man, I can’t leave those people on their own without going over there and supporting them. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’ve got to go.”

Elton John goes after Madonna – again – in Australian interview

Elton John really seems to have it out for Madonna. In an interview with Australian journalist Molly Meldrum, Elton dissed Madge in addition to talking about his own career, and his 19-month-old son Zachary:  “Fate took a big hand in my life.” Lady Gaga is Elton’s son’s godmother, and Elton took the opportunity to offer his opinion on some of her pop music peers, including Madonna, about whom he didn’t mince words. “Her career’s over. Her tour’s been a disaster. And it couldn’t happen to a bigger c*nt.” He added:  “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to prove that she was like… and she looks like a f*cking fairground stripper. She’s been so horrible to Gaga.” (via Towleroad)

Elton John at AIDS Conference: “I should be dead”

Elton John spoke yesterday at the 2012 AIDS Conference in Washington DC.

Among other remarks he said: “By all rights I shouldn’t be here today. I should be dead – six foot under in a wooden box. I should have contracted HIV in the 1980s and died in the 1990s, just like Freddie Mercury, just like Rock Hudson. Every day I wonder, how did I survive?”

Elton continued by saying everyone deserves compassion, dignity and love.

Great message from a great artist.

Elton John hospitalized

Elton John has been hospitalized for a serious respiratory infection and it has temporarily derailed his concerts … according to TMZ.

Elton checked into Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A. at 6 AM Wednesday.  John underwent a battery of tests, after which the doctors recommended that he NOT perform for 7 days.  He was told he needed “complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent damage.”

The singer had to cancel 4 concerts scheduled this weekend in Las Vegas.

Elton tells TMZ, “It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at the Colosseum … I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts.”

Elton added, “All I can say to the fans is ‘sorry I can’t be with you.”

It appears Elton has been released from the hospital.

Las Vegas: Elton John has temper tantrum onstage, booing ensues

Apparently, Elton John wasn’t having a good time during his concert last night at the Colosseum in Las Vegas

From Norm Clark:

During one of his outbursts at the Colosseum, the Rocket Man exploded, saying “somebody in my production team is (bleeping) fired,” a backstage spy told the Review-Journal.

“He made an ass of himself,” said the source.

The 65-year-old six-time Grammy winner started his show 20 minutes later and ended it 25 minutes early, according to the source.

Stagehands were seen mopping up water after each of John’s outbursts. Booing erupted after the fourth time he threw his water glass.

This was caught on video by 12 cameras shooting during the show as a dancer posted on Twitter saying she was shooting a video with the singing legend.

Channing Tatum joins Elton John onstage for Revlon Concert for the Rainforest

Sir Elton John and Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum joined Sir Elton John at the Concert for The Rainforest Fund on April 3rd in New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

It was a star-studded event, and John was thrilled to be a part of the evening — and not just because he had uber-hottie Channing Tatum on hand.

The 21 Jump Street star and Are You Ready For Love singer had the audience giggling in the aisles as they gyrated against one another at the Revlon Concert for the Rainforest in New York City.
