Trump frames the discussion by saying Americans shouldn’t say negative things about the country. The Donald feels that is just plain ‘unpatriotic.’

Donald Trump’s recent racist tweets are nothing new for the Donald.
The New York Times reports that in 2005, he pitched to NBC a season of The Apprentice that would have pitted an all-white team against an all-black team.
For the fourth season of “The Apprentice,” Donald J. Trump searched for a gimmick to bolster ratings. His idea was simple if explosive — pit an all-white team against an all-black team.
“Do you like it?” he asked, previewing the concept on Howard Stern’s radio show in April 2005.
“Yes,” Mr. Stern said.
“Do you like it?” Mr. Trump asked Robin Quivers, the African-American co-host.
“Well,” she said, “I think you’re going to have a riot.”
That gave Mr. Trump no pause. “It would be the highest-rated show on television,” he exulted.
During the Stern interview, Trump reportedly said his idea would be to have an “assortment” of light and dark skinned black contestants, but the white team would be “all blond.”
The New York Times goes on to note that NBC executives quickly squashed the idea.
From the size of the outrage in response to Donald Trump’s racist tweets telling four freshman congresswomen to “go back” to the “totally broken and crime infested places from which they came,” many expected dozens of Republicans to break from Trump and vote with House Democrats in their resolution condemning his words.
But that didn’t really happen.
Today, the Washington Post reports on how the White House kept those numbers low as Trump was apparently “obsessed” with the vote tally.
The White House vote-counters initially feared as many as 50 Republicans might defect to support the resolution, and Trump ordered an all-hands White House effort to keep the GOP caucus together. White House aides told allies on the Hill that it was okay to criticize Trump, as long as they didn’t vote with Democrats.
Trump was obsessed with the vote tally and received regular briefings. Aides fed him a constant stream of lawmaker reactions and put him on the phone with several lawmakers. He told his team to tell any wafflers that he loves America and that they needed to pick sides. Trump called McCarthy to cancel an immigration meeting planned at the White House on Tuesday.
“Stay there and fight,” he told McCarthy.
Vice President Pence also worked the phones, telling Republican members not to fall for a Democratic trap.
In the end, only four Republicans broke ranks.
The Donald predictably tweeted this morning that the Post’s article is, of course, ‘Fake News.’

At last night’s campaign rally, Donald Trump whipped up the crowd to such a frenzy, they began chanting “Send her back,” referring to Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Trump claims he “disagreed it,” and tried to stop the chant saying he began speaking “very quickly.”
But if you watch the video, 13 long seconds of chanting goes by before he continues speaking. And when he does, it isn’t to admonish the racist chant.

The New York Times reports that the House voted today 240-187 to condemn Donald Trump’s attacks on four progressive Democratic congresswomen as ‘racist.’
The House voted on Tuesday to condemn as racist President Trump’s attacks against four congresswomen of color, but only after the debate over the president’s language devolved into a bitterly partisan brawl that showcased deep rifts over race, ethnicity and political ideology in the age of Trump.
The measure passed nearly along party lines, 240-187, following one of the most polarizing exchanges on the House floor in recent memory. Only four Republicans and the House’s lone independent, Representative Justin Amash of Michigan, voted with all Democrats to condemn Mr. Trump.
“I know racism when I see it, I know racism when I feel it, and at the highest level of government, there’s no room for racism,” thundered Representative John Lewis, Democrat of Georgia, an icon of the civil rights movement who was nearly beaten to death in Alabama in 1965.
House Republicans, of course, defended the current occupant of the Oval Office.
Just four Republicans voted with the Democrats — Reps. Will Hurd (Tex.), Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.), Susan Brooks (Ind.) and Fred Upton (Mich.). Rep. Justin Amash (Mich.), who quit the GOP earlier this month and now identifies as Independent, also voted for it.

As the U.S. House prepares to vote to formally condemn Donald Trump’s racist tweets directed at four progressive House Democratic congresswomen, Trump took to Twitter to again rant on the subject.
Trump claims there was nothing racist about telling women of color to “go back” to the countries they came from.
p.s. all four are U.S. citizens; three of the four born in the U.S. The Donald also begged House Republicans not to vote against him regarding the resolution.

Donald Trump began his Sunday with a hideously racist series of tweets aimed at some progressive Democrat congresswomen from countries “whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe” should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”
The Donald doesn’t name exactly who he’s addressing, but the tweets follow attacks on Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar (both women of color) saying he “doesn’t even know where they came from.”
So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly……

CNN reports that Donald Trump will back down from his push to have a question regarding citizenship on the 2020 census.
Instead, he’ll issue an executive order asking the Commerce Department to obtain the citizenship info he wants through other means.
These people said Trump is expected to table his effort to add a question about citizenship status to the 2020 census, setting aside his demands last week to continue pursuing the issue despite a Supreme Court order blocking it.
Trump tweeted Thursday morning he would be holding a press conference in the Rose Garden in the afternoon about “the census and citizenship.” Attorney General William Barr will participate in the event, according to Justice Department spokesperson Kelly Laco. The Justice Department declined further comment on the details of the planned announcement.
The Supreme Court late last month blocked a citizenship question from being added to the 2020 census. The bitter controversy centers around whether the administration can ask all recipients a citizenship question on the 2020 census for the first time since 1950 — a move that could impact the balance of power in states and the House of Representatives, which are based on total population.

Opponents say adding the citizenship question could discourage undocumented immigrants from answering the questionnaire.
That could, in turn, produce lower population counts. And those counts are used to apportion congressional districts, as well as determine where federal funds are used.
Government experts have predicted that asking the question would cause many immigrants to refuse to participate in the census, leading to an undercount of about 6.5 million people.
That could reduce Democratic representation when congressional districts are allocated in 2021 and affect how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal spending are distributed.
