Trump: “We’re Working On A Plan For DACA”

You could get whiplash following the story of whether or not Donald Trump has agreed to work with Democrats in Congress on solving the issue of DACA.

Last night Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced, after a dinner meeting at the White House, that Trump had agreed to support legislation that would allow undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to remain in the states.

Then, Trump tweeted there was no deal.

Now, he says there is.

From the New York Times:

President Trump confirmed on Thursday morning that he supports legislation that would protect young undocumented immigrants from deportation and would deliver a “massive” increase in border security — but not with a wall on the southern border.

Mr. Trump’s comments, both in Washington and in Florida, affirmed the broad parameters of an agreement that Democratic leaders unilaterally announced Wednesday night after dinner with the president at the White House.

In remarks to reporters as he left the White House on Thursday, Mr. Trump said, “We’re working on a plan for DACA,” referring to protections for immigrants who are part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. He confirmed, “the wall will come later.”

Mr. Trump’s comments seemed to contradict his own Twitter posts early Thursday morning when he said, “no deal was made last night on DACA.” But they were very much in line with Democratic leaders’ statements. Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the House Democratic leader, also stopped short of calling their agreement a “deal” on Thursday.

But she told reporters, “We agreed to a plan to protect our nation’s Dreamers from deportation,” adding that there would be a “border security measure that does not include a wall” included in immigration legislation.

Trump Says “No Deal” With Schumer & Pelosi On DACA Fix

Just hours after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced they’d reached a deal with President Trump “to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides,” Trump took to Twitter to deny any such deal.

And apparently “The Wall,” which has seen no legislative action is “already under construction.” but “in the form” of fixing existing structures?

What happened to the “big, beautiful wall?”

Democratic Leaders Announce Deal With Trump To Protect DACA “Dreamers”

President Donald Trump and Democratic leaders in the U.S. Congress have agreed to work together on legislation to protect “Dreamers,” the illegal immigrants who were children when they entered the United States, the lawmakers said on Wednesday, although a dispute erupted over exactly what had been agreed.

Following a dinner with Trump at the White House, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House of Representatives Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said the “productive meeting” focused on “DACA,” a program established by former President Barack Obama.

“We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides,” Schumer and Pelosi said in a statement.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders pushed back on the idea that “The Wall” was part of the agreement:

Miss Texas Trolls Trump At Miss America Pageant Over Charlottesville Racists

At last night’s Miss America Pageant, Miss Texas Margana Wood didn’t pause a second when answering a question from out People editor-in-chief Jess Cagle about President Trump’s handling of the Charlottesville debacle.

Cagle queried, “Last month a demonstration of neo-Nazi white supremacists and the KKK in Charlottesville Virginia turned violent and a counter protester was killed. The president said there was shared blame with quote ‘very fine people on both sides’. Were there? Tell me yes or no and explain.”

Wood’s answer was delivered deftly:

“I think that the white supremacist issue — it was very obvious that it was a terrorist attack. And I think that President Donald Trump should have made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country and that is the number one issue right now.”

In the end, Miss North Dakota Cara Mund took home the crown.

Paul Ryan: The President Wanted To Have A “Bipartisan Moment”

President Trump struck a deal with Democratic congressional leaders on Wednesday to increase the debt limit and finance the government until mid-December, blindsiding his own Republican allies as he reached across the aisle to resolve a major dispute for the first time since taking office.

The agreement would avert a fiscal showdown later this month without the bloody, partisan battle that many had anticipated by combining a debt ceiling increase and stopgap spending measure with relief aid to Texas and other areas devastated by Hurricane Harvey. But without addressing the fundamental underlying issues, it set up the prospect for an even bigger clash at the end of the year.

In embracing the three-month deal, Mr. Trump accepted a Democratic proposal that had been rejected earlier in the day by Speaker Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin. Mr. Trump’s snap decision at a White House meeting caught Republican leaders off guard and reflected friction between the president and his party. After weeks of criticizing Republican leaders for failing to pass legislation, Mr. Trump signaled that he was willing to cross party lines to score some much-desired legislative victories.

Speaker Ryan told reporters today that Donald Trump’s surprise agreement with Democratic leaders was about having a “bipartisan moment” as the country faces down two massive hurricanes and more.

Facebook Sold $100K Of 2016 Election Ads To Russian “Troll Farm”

The folks at Facebook took a closer look at ads sold during the 2016 presidential election cycle and have realized $100K worth of ads can be traced back to Russia

Representatives of Facebook told congressional investigators Wednesday that the social network has discovered that it sold ads during the U.S. presidential campaign to a shadowy Russian company seeking to target voters, according to several people familiar with the company’s findings.

Facebook officials reported that they traced the ad sales, totaling $100,000, to a Russian “troll farm” with a history of pushing pro-Kremlin propaganda, these people said.

A small portion of the ads, which began in the summer of 2015, directly named Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton, the people said, although they declined to say which candidate the ads favored.

Most of the ads, according to a blog post published late Wednesday by Facebook’s chief security officer, Alex Stamos, “appeared to focus on amplifying divisive social and political messages across the ideological spectrum — touching on topics from LGBT matters to race issues to immigration to gun rights.”

The acknowledgment by Facebook comes as congressional investigators and special counsel Robert S. Mueller III are probing Russian interference in the U.S. election, including allegations that the Kremlin may have coordinated with the Trump campaign.

Donald Trump Lies Again That U.S. Is “Highest Taxed Nation In The World”

Repeating an oft-told lie, Donald Trump tweeted again today that the U.S. is the “highest taxed nation in the world.”

This has been proven over and over to be incorrect.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning website Politifact has debunked myth this several times.

When we looked at this claim in the past, we compared the United States to the 33 other industrialized nations in Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Data from 2014, the most recent year available, shows that the United States wasn’t the most highly taxed by the typical metrics and actually places near the bottom or around the middle of the pack.

Russian Politician On TV: Of Course We Have Compromising Info On Donald Trump

A Russian politician has threatened to “hit Donald Trump with our Kompromat” on state TV.

Speaking on Russia-24, Nikita Isaev, leader of the far-right New Russia Movement, said the compromising material should be released in retaliation over the closure of several Russian diplomatic compounds across the US.

When asked whether Russia has such material, Mr. Isaev, who is also director of the Russian Institute of Contemporary Economics, replied: “Of course we have it!”

Mr. Trump has been plagued by allegations of Russian collusion since his election campaign.
