Publicist Says He Used “Hot-Button Language” To “Puff Up” His Email Regarding Russian Lawyer Meeting To Trump Jr.

Rob Goldstone, the British publicist who was instrumental in setting up the now infamous meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian government lawyer, now says he used “hot-button language” to “puff up” his email to Trump Jr. in order to get him to respond.

From The Hill:

“I should have listened to that little voice in my head. But I never thought in a million years that an email I wrote in about three minutes to Don Jr. would be examined by the world many times over. I just needed to get him to respond,” Goldstone told The Sunday Times in London.

Goldstone, a former tabloid journalist who is now living in Thailand, is the manager for Emin Agalarov, an Azerbaijani-Russian entertainment artist who has boasted of having a close relationship with President Trump.

“If I’m guilty of anything, and I hate the word guilty, it’s hyping the message and going the extra mile for my clients. Using hot-button language to puff up the information I had been given,” Goldstone said. “I didn’t make up the details, I just made them sound more interesting.”

Goldstone exchanged a series of emails with Trump Jr. in 2016 to set up a meeting with a Russian lawyer who was said to have damaging information on then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer,” Trump Jr. responded to Goldstone, regarding the meeting.

Goldstone, Trump Jr., White House adviser Jared Kushner and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort all attended the meeting.

Donald Trump, Of All People, Criticizes Al Franken On Sexual Misconduct

Just hours after the story broke that Sen. Al Franken had forcibly kissed a radio host during a USO skit 11 years ago, Donald Trump weighed in on the issue tweeting, “The Al Frankenstien picture is really bad, speaks a thousand words. Where do his hands go in pictures 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 while she sleeps? …..”

Now, I’m not sure this is the smoothest move for a man who has not only been silent on Alabama Republican Roy Moore’s similar predicament, but also has his own fair share of sexual impropriety leveled at him in addition to a certain video tape from Access Hollywood.

This is the kind of moment you put your head down and focus on eating your salad and hope no one notices you’re in the room.

Six House Democrats To Introduce 5 Articles Of Impeachment

Rep. Steve Cohen

House Democrats, led by Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee, have announced they will introduce five articles of impeachment alleging obstruction of justice, violations of both the foreign and domestic emoluments clause, undermining the federal judiciary and undermining the freedom of the press.

Cohen and company have asked that impeachment hearings against Donald Trump begin immediately.

Don’t expect this to go anywhere fast at this time considering the Republicans control Congress.

Donald Trump Brags – His Best Approval Rating is Still Under 50%

Donald Trump must have been absolutely gleeful when he tweeted out the results of the latest Rasmussen poll showing his approval rating at 46%.

The Rasmussen surveys regularly show more favorable numbers for Trump than other polling outfits.

Gallup Daily Tracking, for instance, still shows Trump at a dismal 38%.

And Reuters polling shows Trump with only 35% approval.

But, hey, Trumpy – go where you get the love.

Donald Trump Believes Putin’s Denials Regarding Election Meddling, To Inquire Further Would Be “Insulting”

After meeting privately with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit meeting in Danang, Vietnam, Donald Trump said that he had asked whether Russia had meddled in last year’s presidential election.

According to Trump, Putin not only denied the allegation but appeared “insulted” by the issue.

From the New York Times:

“He said he didn’t meddle — I asked him again,” Mr. Trump told reporters traveling with him aboard Air Force One as he flew to Hanoi for more meetings. “You can only ask so many times. I just asked him again. He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election. He did not do what they are saying he did.”

Mr. Trump did not answer a direct question about whether he believed Mr. Putin’s denials, but his account of the conversation indicated he was far more inclined to accept the Russian president’s assertions than those of his own intelligence agencies, which have concluded that Mr. Putin directed an elaborate effort to interfere in the vote.

“Every time he sees me he says, ‘I didn’t do that,’ and I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it,” Mr. Trump said of Mr. Putin. “I think he is very insulted by it, which is not a good thing for our country.”

Mr. Trump heaped disdain on the former leaders of three American intelligence agencies — John O. Brennan, the former C.I.A. director; James R. Clapper Jr., the former director of national intelligence; and James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director he fired this year — appearing to suggest that they were less trustworthy than Mr. Putin.

“I mean, give me a break — they’re political hacks,” Mr. Trump said. “You have Brennan, you have Clapper, and you have Comey. Comey’s proven now to be a liar, and he’s proven to be a leaker, so you look at that. And you have President Putin very strongly, vehemently says he had nothing to do with that.”

So, to recap: Donald Trump believes a man who was trained as a KGB agent to lie successfully, and throws dedicated U.S. intelligence leaders under the bus.

Virginia Governor’s Race: Draft Dodger Criticizes Veteran As Weak On Veterans

As folks in Virginia head to the polls today to vote for their next governor, Donald Trump took time out during his trip to Asia to criticize the Democrat, Dr. Ralph Northam, as “weak.”

Ralph Northam will allow crime to be rampant in Virginia. He’s weak on crime, weak on our GREAT VETS, Anti-Second Amendment….and has been horrible on Virginia economy. Vote @EdWGillespie today!

Trump also went on to note the “high crime” and “poor economic performance” in Virginia.

The only problem is: Northam actually IS a veteran, thus opening Trump – a draft dodger – up to a game of “glass houses.”

CNN Poll: Donald Trump Hits New Low Approval Rating

According to the latest CNN poll, Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached it’s lowest level of his presidency in the aftermath of growing concerns Russian contacts during the 2016 campaign and indictments of some of Trump’s advisers.

• Only 36% say they approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president – a new low

• Disapproval is at a new high of 58%

• 48% say they “strongly disapprove” of the way Trump is handling his job

• 44%  say they are “very concerned” about reports of connections to Russia operatives during the 2016 campaign

• 59% say they believe Trump himself knew last year that anyone associated with his campaign had contact with suspected Russian operatives

Texas Church Shooter May Have Been Motivated By “Domestic Situation”

With 26 dead and 20 more wounded after the deadly shooting massacre at a small church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, investigators believe the attack was possibly motivated by an ongoing “domestic situation” for the shooter.

While authorities have not publicly identified a motive for the attack, they emphasized Monday that the shooting did not appear to be fueled by racial or religious issues. They said the gunman’s mother-in-law had attended the church but was not there Sunday, and that the shooter had sent “threatening texts” as part of the family dispute.

“This was not racially motivated, it wasn’t over religious beliefs,” Freeman Martin of the Texas Department of Public Safety said at a news briefing. “There was a domestic situation going on within the family and the in-laws.”

Investigators have scoured the gunman’s background since he opened fire Sunday morning on the pews of the First Baptist Church outside San Antonio, searching for a possible motive as the stories of those massacred began to emerge.

The shooter, identified as Devin Patrick Kelley, had served in the Air Force but was court-martialed in 2012 for assaulting his wife and child.

He was sentenced to a year in military prison and received a bad-conduct discharge.

President Trump called the shooter a “deranged individual” and called the shooting massacre a “mental health problem at the highest level.”

That would be an interesting choice of words considering in February Trump signed a bill into law that rolled back regulations that made it difficult for people with mental health issues to acquire guns.

Poll: Trump Drops To Historic Low 37% Approval Rating As 65% Say He’s Accomplished “Little Or Nothing”

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows Donald Trump, one year after his surprise election, has the lowest approval rating of any president at the nine-month mark going back over seventy years to 1946.

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows Donald Trump, one year after his surprise election, has the lowest approval rating of any president at the nine-month mark going back over seventy years to 1946.

Only 37% of those surveyed approve of the job Trump is doing versus 59% who disapprove. That’s a negative 22 point deficit.

The only other president to have a negative deficit in modern times at this point in their presidency was Gerald Ford, who had pardoned President Richard Nixon.

More from ABC News:

• Fifty-five percent say he’s not delivering on his major campaign promises, up sharply from 41 percent in April, at his 100-day mark.

• Views of Trump as a “strong leader” have plummeted by 13 percentage points, from 53 percent at 100 days to 40 percent today — lower than the worst rating on this question for either of his two predecessors throughout their two terms in office.

• As the president travels in Asia, a remarkable 67 percent of Americans don’t trust him to act responsibly in handling the situation involving North Korea — up 5 points from September. Also relevant to his travels, a majority, 53 percent, now says America’s leadership in the world has gotten weaker under Trump.

• Two-thirds (65 percent) also now say he’s accomplished anywhere from “not much” to “little or nothing” as president — up from 56 percent who said so after his first 100 days, and sharply contradicting the president’s own claims to be highly productive.

• Again two-thirds (66 percent) say Trump lacks the personality and temperament it takes to serve effectively as president, and essentially as many (65 percent) say he’s not honest and trustworthy.
