White House: Trump’s Round Of Golf Are “Relationship Building” Time To Further His Agenda

Even though he’s played more golf in his first year than any other president, it’s the White House spin that Donald Trump’s time on the golf course has been valuable for “relationship building.”

Reporter: “Can you tell me the biggest single thing the president has accomplished for the American people during his time on the golf course?”

Sarah Sanders: “Developing deeper and better relationships with members of Congress”

I wonder how long it took the geniuses in the press office to think that up?

According to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, it’s really only the press that has an issue with his 91 golf trips.

When asked about the transparency issue of non-confirmation of rounds of golf, Sanders pivoted back to the predictable claim that Trump enjoyed one of the “most successful first years in office” of any president.

I’m guessing that’s kinda like “passing the most legislation” since Truman lie?

Trump Takes Credit For World-Wide Air Travel Safety

This morning Donald Trump found another statistic for which to take credit.

In 2017, there were no commercial air travel-related deaths anywhere in the world.

The Trumpster immediately shouldered the credit tweeting, “Since taking office I have been very strict on Commercial Aviation. Good news – it was just reported that there were Zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest year on record!”

There were two crashes on New Year’s Eve but were not officially counted in the report as both aircraft weighed under 5,700kg — the threshold for the report from aviation consultancy firm To70.

In that the report was about world-wide air travel, I’m not sure how much influence Trump has over all that.

But as several smart folks noted, there hasn’t been a death related to commercial air flight in the U.S. since 2009.

Donald “Back To Work” Trump Spends 7th Consecutive Day Playing Golf

Just before 9am this morning, Donald Trump arrived at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, for his 7th consecutive day playing golf.

This marks his 91st day at a golf course since taking offuce.

You may recall Trump tweeted to the world Christmas night he would be getting “back to work” the next morning.

Before becoming president, Trump promised his followers there would be “no time” for golf if he won the election. In fact, he said he’d practically never leave the White House.

And he wonders why folks call him a liar…? Let’s go to the video tape.

Trump Takes Credit Yet Again For The Obama Economy

Donald Trump took to Twitter on the last day of 2017 to boast yet again about the economy:

If the Dems (Crooked Hillary) got elected, your stocks would be down 50% from values on Election Day. Now they have a great future – and just beginning!

Why would smart voters want to put Democrats in Congress in 2018 Election when their policies will totally kill the great wealth created during the months since the Election. People are much better off now not to mention ISIS, VA, Judges, Strong Border, 2nd A, Tax Cuts & more?

A few facts are missing from the Trumpster’s perspective here.

Most importantly the fact that he inherited an already healthy economy with a 4.7% unemployment rate and a stock market that had more than doubled.

And then the smart kids chimed in:

NYT: Drunken Bragging By Trump Adviser Sparked FBI’s Russian Investigation

George Papadopolous

The short version of the story: it was bragging by a Trump adviser – not the infamous “pee-pee” dossier – that launched the FBI investigation into the Trump campaign’s possible collusion with Russia.

From The New York Times:

During a night of heavy drinking at an upscale London bar in May 2016, George Papadopoulos, a young foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, made a startling revelation to Australia’s top diplomat in Britain: Russia had political dirt on Hillary Clinton.

About three weeks earlier, Mr. Papadopoulos had been told that Moscow had thousands of emails that would embarrass Mrs. Clinton, apparently stolen in an effort to try to damage her campaign.

Exactly how much Mr. Papadopoulos said that night at the Kensington Wine Rooms with the Australian, Alexander Downer, is unclear. But two months later, when leaked Democratic emails began appearing online, Australian officials passed the information about Mr. Papadopoulos to their American counterparts, according to four current and former American and foreign officials with direct knowledge of the Australians’ role.

The hacking and the revelation that a member of the Trump campaign may have had inside information about it were driving factors that led the F.B.I. to open an investigation in July 2016 into Russia’s attempts to disrupt the election and whether any of President Trump’s associates conspired.

Donald Trump and Republicans have doggedly tried to assert the investigation began because of a dossier compiled by a former UK intelligence agent paid for by a rival campaign.

Now we know it was the bragging of a Trump camp 28 year-old idiot who then lied to the FBI leading to a plea deal and his cooperation in the ongoing Mueller investigation.

Trump Land folks have tried to discredit Papadopolous as a low-level “coffee boy,” but it turns out Mr. P was much more than that. According to Axios, he “helped arrange a meeting between Trump and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and “continued for months” to set up a meeting with Russian representatives, ‘keeping senior campaign advisers abreast of his efforts.'”

Donald Trump, who tweeted Christmas night that he would get “back to work” the next morning, is spending his 5th consecutive day playing golf.

This is his 89th day at a golf course since taking office.

Esquire: NY Times Interview Reveals Trump Is In “Severe Cognitive Decline”

In an article for Esquire, writer Charles P. Pierce comes to the conclusion that Donald Trump is quite possibly in “severe cognitive decline, if not the early stages of outright dementia.”

You may recall that our current president is the oldest American president to take the office and that his father developed Alzheimer’s in the 1980s.

When you couple those facts with his spur of the moment Twitter rants and his terrible use of sentence structure/syntax when he struggles to explain himself, it’s not far-fetched to imagine.

Pierce writes, in part:

In this interview, the president* is only intermittently coherent. He talks in semi-sentences and is always groping for something that sounds familiar, even if it makes no sense whatsoever and even if it blatantly contradicts something he said two minutes earlier. To my ears, anyway, this is more than the president*’s well-known allergy to the truth. This is a classic coping mechanism employed when language skills are coming apart. (My father used to give a thumbs up when someone asked him a question. That was one of the strategies he used to make sense of a world that was becoming quite foreign to him.) My guess? That’s part of the reason why it’s always “the failing New York Times,” and his 2016 opponent is “Crooked Hillary.”

In addition, the president* exhibits the kind of stubbornness you see in patients when you try to relieve them of their car keys–or, as one social worker in rural North Carolina told me, their shotguns. For example, a discussion on health-care goes completely off the rails when the president* suddenly recalls that there is a widely held opinion that he knows very little about the issues confronting the nation.

Donald “Back To Work” Trump Golfs For 4th Day In A Row

I couldn’t possibly report this news better than the folks at Mediaite:

After President Donald Trump successfully saved Christmas, he triumphantly tweeted that he would be getting back to work the very next day, pulling up his bootstraps to make America great again “faster than anyone anticipated.”

Imagine everyone’s surprise when he showed up at the golf course the very next day to play a “quick” round. Now, imagine everyone’s surprise when he did this again the very next day, and, well, even the day after that.

Surely, the world thought, he could not golf for a fourth day in a row. Not even the most retired dads in the most retired parts of Florida can muster up four days in a row. That’s madness!

You know, the only reason I give a shit about the Trumpster golfing is he took President Obama to task so often for playing himself. In fact, he’s played more than 50% the amount of golf Obama did in his first year.

Here’s just one example:

The hypocrisy is unbelievable.

Mexican Deportations See Significant Drop In Trump’s First Year

Donald Trump launched his campaign on the issue of immigration – particularly Mexican immigration to the United States – saying he would stop and deport all undocumented Mexican immigrants.

Well, as he nears the end of his first year in the White House, it seems the Trump administration isn’t quite as productive in deporting Mexican nationals as his predecessor.

So far in 2017, about 27% fewer Mexican nationals have been deported compared to the previous year.

From LawAndCrime.com:

In total, Trump’s use of the United States’ deportation machinery resulted in roughly 152,000 Mexican nationals being deported between and January and November 2017. Obama’s use of the nation’s deportation machinery resulted in roughly 205,000 Mexican nationals being deported between January and November 2016.

The information was released by Mexico’s Interior Ministry and first reported on by Milenio. Overall, Trump’s record on immigration so far amounts to a 27 percent drop in deportations of Mexican nationals compared to Obama’s final year at the helm.

As far as U.S. government statistics are concerned, data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) shows a somewhat similar drop in “removals” of Mexican nationals from the country during financial year 2017 compared to financial year 2016–the U.S. government financial year spans from October 1 to September 30.

According to ICE, During Obama’s final year spearheading the nation’s deportation system, some 150,000 Mexican nationals were deported. During Trump’s first year, some 129,000 Mexican nationals were deported. Those numbers together result in a 21 percent drop in expulsions from Obama to Trump.
