• New York Times: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (above) has won his GOP run-off against 4-term U.S. Sen. John Cornyn to run for Cornyn’s seat this fall against Democrat James Talarico. Trust and believe, Talarico’s campaign is happier running against ethics-challenged Paxton.

• OUT: Netflix has released new, first-look images for the upcoming movie Heartstopper Forever, which will bid a final farewell to young lovers Nick (Kit Conner) and Charlie (Joe Locke). ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ Surpasses Original Film’s Box Office + More

Happy Friday! Some news stories for you as we head into the weekend.

• Deadline: The Meryl Streep/Anne Hathaway dramedy The Devil Wears Prada 2 will outstrip the original 2006 film’s global lifetime box office of $326.5 million today – just a week after the sequel’s release. Folks are projecting it could hit over $700 million worldwide by Sunday.

2026 Tony Award Nominations Announced – ‘The Lost Boys’ & ‘Schmigadoon!’ Lead With 12 Nods

79th Annual Tony Awards

It’s a big day in the theater world as the nominations for the 79th Annual Tony Awards were announced this morning.

Twenty-four shows were honored with at least one nomination.

Schmigadoon! and The Lost Boys were the most nominated shows of the year, with 12 nominations each. They are closely followed by Ragtime (11), Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman (9), Cats: The Jellicle Ball (9), Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show (9).

Special shout-out to June Squibb who made Tony history by becoming the oldest actor to receive a nomination, at the age of 96 for her performance in Marjorie Prime.

The play Liberation by Bess Wohl is having an especially good week. On Monday, it won the Pulitzer, and today it was nominated for a Tony for Best New Play.

The 79th Annual Tony Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The main ceremony airs at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the CBS Television Network and will stream live for subscribers on Paramount+. • Broadway News: International pop star P!NK (above) will host the 79th annual Tony Awards on June 7, airing on CBS. While she has not performed in a Broadway production, her music is featured in the jukebox musicals “& Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge!”

• Broadway World: Speaking of the Great White Way, the reviews are in for the new revival of Death of a Salesman starring Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf, and it’s pretty much 10s across the board. • LGBTQ Nation: Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D) made good on his pledge to protect queer rights in the state, vetoing five anti-LGBTQ+ bills this week passed by the state’s Republican-led legislature. He told a crowd at a private ceremony later that day he would have liked to have written “Hell No!” on the bills.

Lea Michele & Broadway Cast/Orchestra of CHESS Perform ‘Nobody’s Side’

Lea Michele and the cast and orchestra of the Broadway revival of CHESS

Emmy Award-nominee Lea Michele, along with the Broadway cast and orchestra of Chess, threw down this terrific performance of “Nobody’s Side” from the hit revival last week on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
