Pastor Bert Ferias: Gays are possessed by putrid-smelling demons even pigs don’t like

Pastor Bert Ferias has written a particularly vicious  op-ed for Charisma News.

Apparently, Charisma News is a very popular website among the Christian crowd.

Check out his loving, Christ-like words:

“Here’s the raw, naked truth: Homosexuality is actually a demon spirit. It is such a putrid-smelling demon that other demons don’t even like to hang around it.

“A genuine prophet of God told me that the Lord allowed him to smell this demon spirit, and he got sick to his stomach.

“And yet as humans, many embrace this demon. Yes, you heard me right: Being gay is demonic.

“There is an account in the Bible where Jesus casts 2,000 demons out of a man. The demons came out screaming and begged Jesus to send them into the pigs. The pigs didn’t want them, so they ran down a steep hill and were drowned in the sea.

“Pigs have more sense than some humans. Some people embrace homosexual demons, but the pigs would rather die than be possessed with demons.”

Bryan Fischer: Only 2% of Americans are gay, and they are belligerent and intolerant!

Today’s rant from anti-gay hate group leader Bryan Fischer, comes in response to the latest National Health Interview Survey, which is the government’s premier tool for annually assessing Americans’ health and behaviors.

The NHIS found that 1.6 percent of adults self-identify as gay or lesbian, and 0.7 percent consider themselves bisexual.  1.1 percent declined to answer, so you know what that means.  Results from other surveys put the numbers closer to 3.5-4%.

Apparently, according to Fischer, this means gays and lesbians should accept being “less than” and the treatment that bigots feel go with such standing.  Equal rights?  No way, Mr. Gay…..

Fox News misinterprets First Amendment for fired anti-gay HGTV hosts

A Fox News host erroneously pointed to the First Amendment in reference to anti-gay brothers Jason and David Benham who found their upcoming HGTV show cancelled when news of their extreme anti-gay and Islamophobic activism came to light.

As posted on The Randy Report earlier, HGTV cancelled its upcoming TV show Flip It Forward following the news that the hosts, Jason and David Benham, had long histories of anti-gay, anti-choice, and anti-Muslim activism.

Initially, Fox News stated that the brothers were punished for their Christian views, but is now suggesting HGTV’s decision to cancel the show actually violated the Benhams’ First Amendment right to free speech.

From Equality Matters:

On July 10, Fox News host Steve Doocy interviewed Jason and David Benham while an on-screen graphic declared they had been “fired for faith.” Doocy argued, “You were fired for having an opinion. I mean, there’s this thing called the First Amendment where people are entitled to their opinion and their Christian beliefs as well.”

But the First Amendment does not protect individuals from being fired by private employers, as it does not limit the actions that private employers may take based on employees’ speech. The First Amendment Center explained:

The First Amendment does not limit private employers. The Bill of Rights — and the First Amendment — limit only government actors, not private actors. This means that private employers can restrict employee speech in the workplace without running afoul of the First Amendment.

HGTV did not violate the First Amendment rights of the Benhams by dropping their show. As Columbia Law’s Suzanne Goldberg pointed out in an interview with CNN, it was most likely a decision to protect the business’ brand following widespread outcry against the Benhams’ comments.

Even David Benham told CNN that he does not hold a grudge against the network, telling Erin Burnett, “It was too much for them to bear and they had to make a business decision.”

Tony Perkins: LGBT groups want daycare and summer camps to celebrate the gays

Tony Perkins says the gays want "complete and utter surrender" by religious groups

Hate group leader Tony Perkins took to his Family Research Council blog to drop some red meat to his followers on the recent withdrawal of support by LBGT advocacy groups for ENDA legislation in light of the recent Hobby Lobby ruling by SCOTUS:

Speaking of ideological oppression, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is full of it. But apparently, not full enough to suit the radical Left. After months of demanding action, liberals are abruptly bailing on the legislation, which many of them called their top legislative priority. The about-face comes just days after the Supreme Court upheld the religious rights of businesses like Hobby Lobby. It’s a ruling, liberals worry, could translate into new protections for employers with similar faith-based objections to homosexuality.

For President Obama, who was on the brink of imposing ENDA rules on federal contractors by executive order, this new split certainly throws a wrench into the White House’s plans. Several of the LGBT’s political heavyweights, including the ACLU, GLAAD, Lambda Legal, and the National center for Lesbian Rights and the Transgender Law Center, issued a joint announcement withdrawing their support for the Senate bill because of its religious exemptions. As far as these groups are concerned, the exemptions (which, ironically, were a condition of many Democrats’ support) “allow religious organizations to discriminate based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”

[snip]

This is how extreme homosexual activists are. If they can’t demand acceptance from every American, regardless of their moral views, then they aren’t interested in enacting ENDA. Not until they can order Christian schools, daycares, summer camps, and other role model occupations into celebrating a lifestyle diametrically opposed to their faith. Leaders in Congress and elsewhere mistakenly think they can satisfy this radical fringe by climbing aboard the “special rights” bandwagon. They can’t. The only satisfaction they’re interested in is complete and utter surrender.

A couple of things here:

First, the religious exemptions which are currently a part of the ENDA bill were not so much a “condition” as a “concession” necessary to get the votes to pass the bill in the Senate.

Second, note how Perkins keeps using the phrase “special rights” – because if he does it enough, his followers will pick up the same usage and do the same. “Gays want special rights; gays want special rights.”

No. We don’t. We want equal rights.

The more you pay attention to all of this, the more you realize it truly is a game for many of the haters AND it’s a career. Sadly, a very profitable one. These folks make very good incomes stirring up friction between groups of people.

Isn’t that a lovely way to live your life…

Marriage equality foes getting nervous in Florida

Liberty Counsel chairman Mat Staver, who yesterday testified in the Monroe County marriage lawsuit, is quoted in this press release complaining that the state of Florida isn’t doing enough to “defend” marriage and that Liberty Counsel is doing all the heavy lifting:

“Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is giving only window dressing to the Florida Marriage Amendment.

“Bondi sent one of her staff attorneys to argue the case against the constitutional amendment, and her office filed a short, 14-page brief only a week before the court date.

“If Attorney General Pam Bondi does not want to present a vigorous defense, she owes it to the voters of Florida to step down and allow someone else to represent the interests of the State.

“I call on Governor Rick Scott to get off the sidelines and appoint an independent counsel who can adequately represent the people of Florida.”

Can somebody please call the waahmbulance?

Here’s a news report of the hearing that took place in Florida yesterday…

Scott Lively is super-mad that HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” told the truth about him

Crimes against humanity defendant and current (don’t laugh) Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Scott Lively is waaay upset that John Oliver quoted Mr. Lively (with video, no less) on HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” this past Sunday.

As many folks know, Mr. Lively has spent considerable time and energy traveling the world spreading anti-gay propaganda and supporting laws like the recently passed “Kill The Gays” law in Uganda.  He, of course, denies that he’s anything but loving and compassionate.

You know, Scotty, the problem with technology is what you say is now with us forever. All your anti-gay propaganda captured in “lively” color.

But Mr. Lively has now taken to his personal hate site to rail against Oliver’s extensive truth-telling.

“Friends, On Sunday night I was attacked on HBO’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ a supposed comedy/news show in the mold of The Daily Show.

The host is a Brit named John Oliver.

I find it funny that lefties like John Oliver who pose as humanitarians are the masters at dehumanizing other people through ridicule and never give the subjects of their smears a fair chance to respond.

I’m calling out John Oliver as a liar and a fraud who couldn’t go ten minutes with me in an unscripted, unedited debate. Without his teleprompter and his cheap-shot, out-of-context video clips he would be exposed as just another left-wing loony.

Oliver is lying through selective editing re Rwanda and several other points. His show was one continuous stream of malicious LGBT propaganda in the guise of comedy.

Yes, it will likely negatively affect the voters, as it was intended to do. It’s one more example of the ‘politics of personal destruction’ that Saul Alinsky taught the ‘progressives,’ including journalists, to practice.”

You can check out the clip that has Scott Lively’s panties in a bunch below:

Tony Perkins plays the ‘bad loser’ over LGBT Executive Order

Tony Perkins writing for the anti-gay hate group Family Research Council:

“After 30 days of nonstop, in-your-face celebration, the White House is capping off ‘gay pride’ month with its biggest gift yet. Next Monday, the pot of gold at the end of this President’s rainbow is an executive order giving special workplace benefits to the sexually confused.

“For the far-Left, it caps off a long fight to get the administration to do what Congress has not: order employers to put aside their profits, principles, and practices in the name of political correctness.

“The President’s order implementing part of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) — once considered ‘too radical’ even for his own party — forces government contractors and subcontractors to hire gays, lesbians, transvestites, and transsexuals — regardless of their legally protected morals.

“This level of coercion is nothing less than viewpoint blackmail — and from the federal government no less!”

You’ll note how Perkins calls President Obama’s executive order calling for federal contractors to treat LGBT folks with dignity “special workplace benefits.”

And he refers to the gays as “sexually confused.”

ENDA is hardly “too radical” for the President’s own party – the US Senate passed the legislation months ago in a bipartisan fashion.

What Perkins can’t handle is the fact that those he openly disdains are slowly but surely finding their way to equality.  And he can’t stop it.

Opera Australia fires singer Tamar Iveri over comments calling gays “sewage”

Opera singer Tamar Iveri has come under fire for comments posted to her Facebook which refer to homosexuals as “sewage.”

From the Advocate:

According to Adam Withnall of The Independent, Iveri’s Facebook status, framed as a letter to the Georgian president, was posted to the site after Orthodox Christian groups violently assaulted LGBT people holding a Pride parade in Tbilisi, Georgia. Here’s the text, as reported by Withnall.

“I was quite proud of the fact how Georgian society spat at the parade… Often, in certain cases, it is necessary to break jaws in order to be appreciated as a nation in the future, and to be taken into account seriously. Please, stop vigorous attempts to bring West’s ‘faecal masses’ [or sewage] in the mentality of the people by means of propaganda.”

Iveri was apparently shocked that she was called homophobic for the statement. Later, after the post was deleted, she told reporters she had been planning to write about the protests, but her husband – whom she says has “a tough attitude towards gay people” – found her draft, altered it and posted it on her Facebook page.

However, when the comments were first found, Iveri apologized to a local LGBT organization without any mention of her husband. Only when the comments became more widely known did the “husband” angle come up.

A petition was begun to ask Opera Australia to fire her. But the organization is standing by the singer.

However, there are reports that an opera company in Brussels has cancelled a date with Iveri.

UPDATE: Opera Australia has announced that the company has released Iveri from her contract and will NOT be performing “Otello”in July and August.  Before the announcement, Quantas, a major sponsor of Opera Australia, had released a statement saying Iveri’s comments  caused “deep concern” and was discussing possible steps forward with Opera Australia.

Rick Perry: “I stepped right in it” comparing homosexuality to alcoholism

Governor Rick “Bang Bang” Perry admitted that he “stepped right in it” last week when he compared homosexuality to alcoholism.

Thursday he told the Christian Science Monitor:

“I got asked about an issue, and instead of saying, ‘You know what, we need to be a really respectful and tolerant country, and get back to talking about, whether you’re gay or straight you need to be having a job, and those are the focuses I want to be involved with,’ instead of getting — which I did, I readily admit, I stepped right in it.”

Perry went on to say that Republicans should not let social issues divide the party.

CNBC’s Joe Kernan calls out Rick Perry on comparing gays to alcoholism

CNBC Squawk Box host Joe Kernan called Texas Governor Rick Perry on his remarks comparing homosexuality to alcoholism in a segment that aired Monday morning. Here’s just a bit of what went on.

Joe Kernan:

“In terms of comparing it to alcoholism, that’s what got all the play, and i don’t — I have a really high bar for what I would take offense to, but that would exceed the bar for me on being an offensive comment. I don’t think gay marriage leads to cirrhosis of the liver or domestic violence or DWIs. I don’t see how that’s similar.”

Perry tried to spin his comments as an issue of “states right,” but Kernan was clearly not going to let the governor get off so easily:

“But in terms of changing the behavior of someone…you wouldn’t think that someone who’s heterosexual, that you couldn’t change them into a homosexual, or someone who is homosexual, you don’t think that there should be therapy to try to change them into a heterosexual?”

At one point when Perry says that the issue of homosexuality should be left “to the psychologists and the doctors,” Kernan jumps in:

“The psychologists they’ve already weighed in. they’ve dismissed the idea that sexual orientation is a mental disorder and they’ve told their mental health professionals to avoid telling clients that you can change your sexual orientation…”

Near the end of the interview segment, Kernan says:

“It just seems like the Republican Party is going to be forever behind the curve on this issue.”

I can’t express how I appreciate a journalist holding a politician responsible for something they said. Rick Perry said these things, and Joe Kernan held him to it and asked for answers.

No softball lobbed here.
