Queen frontman Adam Lambert shared a lengthy and emotional message with his fans via social media on Thursday prior to releasing his new single, “Feel Something.”

In the note, Lambert opened up about personal challenges he’s faced in recent years in terms of having to compromising artistic vision in clashes with record executives and the effects it had on his mental health.

“I’m coming out of a dark period of second guessing my own artistry and having my mental health suffer because of it,” wrote Lambert. “I started asking myself, ‘Is all this hustle really worth it?’ I put all my focus on work and started to feel detached in my personal life. My self worth was suffering. I was lonely and becoming depressed.”

The American Idol alum credited his time and work with Queen rockers Brian May and Roger Taylor for recharging him “with tons of positive energy.”

“Together we have collaborated creatively on our tours and this helped me to reaffirm my confidence in my artistry,” wrote the 37-year-old. “Working with Queen helped keep my head above water, and I am so grateful to the spirit of Freddie Mercury, who has always inspired me to push ahead boldly.”

Citing the support of friends and family, as well as some professional help, Lambert told his fans he’s “pulled himself “out of the darkness.”

He also shares that he’s switched up not only his own management team, but changed record labels.

Turning to the new single, Lambert describes the song as “climbing out of the low period, defying my disillusionment, owning my needs, and opening my heart.”

In the song, Lambert sings:

I don’t need to feel love, I just want to feel something
If it’s never enough, at least it’s better than nothing
After everyone I’ve lost and ever kiss I wasted
I don’t, I don’t need to feel love, just want to feel something

“Since writing this song, I’ve found the joy I was missing and I’m back in my power,” he added. “I can’t wait for you to hear more!”

Adam Lambert Brought Cher To Tears With Spectacular ‘Believe’ At Kennedy Center Honors

Adam Lambert sings in tribute to Cher at 2018 Kennedy Center Honors

Last night, CBS aired this year’s Kennedy Center Honors which recognizes those in the performing arts for a lifetime of achievement.

This year’s honorees included Cher, Reba McEntire, composer Philip Glass and jazz legend Wayne Short.

And, for the first time, the Kennedy Center honored a groundbreaking work of art: Hamilton. The blockbuster Broadway musicals creators – Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, Andy Blankenbuehler and Alex Lacamoire – received special honors for their work.

Many spectacular performances were thrown down during the telecast, but it was the tribute to Oscar & Grammy winner, Cher, that left the audience wiped out.

Whoopi Goldberg, in a sequin dress perfect for the moment, took to the stage to offer spoken tribute to the goddess.

Little Big Town rocked a medley of “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves,” “I Found Someone” and “Baby Don’t Go;” the indomitable Cyndi Lauper laid down her take on “(If I Could) Turn Back Time” as well as dueting with Adam Lambert for a show-closing “I Got You Babe.”

But Adam Lambert’s intimate-to-soaring performance of Cher’s iconic “Believe” was ‘the’ moment of the night.

Set in an orchestral soundscape, Lambert turned the 1998 dance hit into an stunning, emotional pop anthem with diva-worthy vocals building to the American Idol alum’s signature high notes.

Cher took to Twitter after the telecast to express her feelings about the tribute.

“Tried 2 write Feelings About Adam Lambert Singing Believe In Words, but Cant seem 2,” Cher shared on Twitter. “When Your senses are Overwhelmed All Can you feel with your [heart].”

“I Was Shocked AND Over The MOON When Cindi (Lauper) came out Rocking the house,” the diva continued. “Shocked Because SHE TOLD ME SHE WAS IN LA, & Over The Moon Because My Friend CINDI Is One Of Our ‘Great’ Singers. When Adam & Cindi Sang Together It=Heaven. ‘Little Big Town’ Were Adorable, & Harmonies. Amanda Was Genuine & Dear & When Whoopi Came Out In ”Cher Outfit” She brought Down House.”

Lambert tweeted back, “It was a total honor!!!! You’re a goddess!”

When Queen and Lambert debuted the show last year, Billboard Magazine raved called the production, “a seamlessly executed Vegas assault — a just-right balance of kitsch, classic rock and ‘70s excess. It’s all there; the bombast, melodrama, the drum solos, the glitter, the great songs, a crazy light show, big power chords.”

Teaser: Adam Lambert Sings “Hot Patootie” In ROCKY HORROR Reboot

In advance of the premiere of Fox’s reboot of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Thursday at 8PM ET, we get a quick tease of Adam Lambert (American Idol) rocking out on some “Hot Patootie” as “Eddie” from the cult musical.

It turns out, though, that Lambert took some twists and turns in the early phase casting for the TV movie.

Via Attitude:

When he was asked to play the part of Frank-N-Further in the Kenny Ortega-directed remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, American Idol winner Adam Lambert refused, as being “cis and playing the role of a trans character… felt inappropriate” to him.

Instead, the role went to the spectacular Laverne Cox, who’s portrayal has already got fans whipped into a frenzy of excitement. But, not wanting to miss out on the action, Adam took on the role of Eddie in the retelling of the 1975 cult musical classic.

Speaking to Out Magazine at the time, Lambert said: “When they started announcing the cast, I said, ‘Wait a minute — what about Eddie? I wanna play Eddie! I could do that — that’s like one song. Let me just come in and do a bit part!’ Because I really, really wanted to be a part of it.”

Music Video: Adam Lambert Drops “Another Lonely Night” In Las Vegas

From Adam Lambert’s album The Original High we get the new single, “Another Lonely Night.”

Ruminating on the idea that everyone is lonely in life even if you have beauty, or money, or the spotlight.

Of course, I love that the video is set in my town of Las Vegas, AND there’s a male stripper featured. In addition to others, we follow him on his way to work, watch him earn a pile of money being adored and objectified by women at a work.

But when he returns home, it’s just him, the cash and his puppy.

If someone wants to send me his address, I’ll be happy to visit him 🙂

From Lambert on the approach to the video: “When the lights turn off and the costumes get put away, many struggle with the feeling of loneliness. I wanted to paint a picture that wasn’t necessarily happy or sad, but showed the entire range in between.”

I’m not so sure the song itself rises to the level of Lambert’s first single from this project, “Ghost Town,” which I loved, but his vocals are definitely on point.

I do like the direction and storytelling here, though. Director Luke Gilford takes his time leading us down lonesome lane.
