Thai police said on Sunday (May 23) that they had arrested 62 men for breaching coronavirus restrictions in a raid on a gay “chemsex” party, the country’s largest such crackdown during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The men were arrested on Saturday night at Faros Sauna 2, where police also found drugs, needles and used condoms, said Police Colonel Ekapop Tanprayoon, superintendent of Bangkok’s Wang Thong Lang District police station.
“(In the past) we have reprimanded people for gathering to drink at home,” Mr Ekapop said. “But under the current circumstances, there shouldn’t be so many people in such a crowded area.”
The establishment reportedly boasts 50 bedrooms, a swimming pool, and a karaoke space.

Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey will play a ‘sex abuse investigator’ in his first acting role since sexual assault accusations derailed his career nearly four years ago.
The Oscar winner will appear in an Italian drama titled, The Man Who Drew God, which will also star Vanessa Redgrave.
Redgrave’s husband, Franco Nero, will direct the film as well as star as a blind artist falsely accused of sex abuse, according to The Independent.
Spacey will reportedly play a detective investigating the wrongfully accused artist.
“I’m very happy Kevin agreed to participate in my film,” Nero told ABC News. “I consider him a great actor, and I can’t wait to start the movie.”
Nearly 20 men accused Spacey of sexual misconduct during his time at London’s Old Vic Theatre between 1995 and 2013.
An anonymous massage therapist levels charges of sexual impropriety but the accuser died before a court could decide the matter.
And prosecutors in Massachusetts dropped charges against Spacey in 2019 in regard to allegations of groping an 18-year-old at a Nantucket bar in 2016. The case was dropped when the accuser invoked his 5th Amendment rights.

The alleged victim was in court over a missing cellphone that he claims captured the incident.
In response to the allegations, Spacey was dropped from his acclaimed Netflix series House of Cards. He was also replaced in the 2017 drama All the Time in the World. Christopher Plummer was tapped to reshoot all of Spacey’s scenes in the already-completed film and went on to score an Oscar nomination for his performance.
In a video message recorded last year, Spacey said experiencing his career coming to a “grinding, screeching halt” led him to ask himself, “If I can’t act, who am I?”
“I only valued and defined myself through work, that’s who I was,” said Spacey. “If that wasn’t going to be a possibility anymore then who am I? If all I’m left with is just me?”
The ruling conservative Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in Japan’s Parliament is opposing a bill that would protect the rights of LGBTQ athletes at the upcoming Olympic Games saying that “LGBT goes against the preservation of the human race.” From The Guardian:
Japan’s ruling party has been accused of violating the Olympic charter after it failed to approve a bill to protect the rights of the LGBT community, during discussions marred by homophobic outbursts from conservative MPs.
Closed meetings held this month to discuss a bill, proposed by opposition parties, stating that discrimination against LGBT people “must not be tolerated” ended without agreement after some Liberal Democratic party (LDP) MPs said the rights of sexual minorities had “gone too far.”
A decision on a rival LDP proposal that calls on the government to “promote understanding” of LGBT people was postponed, according to Japanese media accounts of the meetings.
A few weeks ago, an adviser to the LDP’s committee to study sexual orientation and gender identity gave a speech titled, “The LGBT issue is getting out of control.” Following the lack of an approved bill, human rights advocates say Japan deserves a “gold medal for homophobia.” Japan is the only G7 nation that does not fully recognize same-sex partnerships or marriages.
Lil Nas X on SNL (screen capture) Lil Nas X made quite the splash this weekend as the musical guest on SNL. For the Season 46 finale of SNL, Lil Nas X performed “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” while wearing an all-leather fire-themed outfit. But a wardrobe malfunction occurred when he squatted down in front of a stripper pole and his pants ripped in the upper thigh area. For the rest of the performance, Lil Nax X continued to sing and dance while trying to keep the rip from being too noticeable. This has to be the gayest thing I’ve ever seen on SNL 🙂
The Grammy winner followed that up with a performance of his latest single, “Sun Goes Down,” which went smoothly and no mishaps.
Lil Nas X did also took part in a prerecorded Pride Month song titled “It’s Pride Again.” SNL’s queer cast members – Bowen Yang, Kate McKinnon, Punkie Johnson, and Taylor-Joy – joined Nas X for a music video about how exciting it is for Pride to return after the pandemic.
A new survey from Ipsos Polls shows 54% of Republican respondents believe the January 6 invasion of the U.S. Capitol building was “led by violent left-wing protesters trying to make Trump look bad.” I’m guessing those are the same people who believe the COVID-19 pandemic was all staged to “make Trump look bad.” You have to wonder if those conservatives are genuinely delusional or if they just decided to lie to pollsters? Our little prince Bear when he was a pup It was one year ago today that 16-year-old baby Bear, the youngest of our dachshund dynasty passed away. As he was born last of the three puppies (in Michael’s hands), we always thought of him as our little prince. But in his last seven months, being the lone dog of the house, he flourished and grew confident as the alpha of the house. Even on his last day, when the vets came into the house to assist with his crossing the rainbow bridge, he stood up and barked ferociously defending us from what he perceived as a threat. Our prince had become a knight. I couldn’t let the day go by without acknowledging how much we miss him, his dad and mom – Bruno and Sabrina, and siblings Tyler and Bandit. Since their passing, we have blessed with the amazing wonder beagle Snoopy. And now, mom and pup chihuahuas Scarlett and Brody. Please know I’m not sad – but happy that Bear and his brood happened to us. Boundless joy that stretched over two decades.
