DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was quick to accuse Alex Pretti, a U.S. citizen with no criminal record who worked as an intensive care nurse at a local VA hospital, of being a domestic terrorist and suggested he intended to harm agents with a gun when he was shot and killed by ICE agents yesterday.
Greg Bovino, the official in charge of Border Patrol agents deployed to Minnesota, said: “This looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.”
But multiple videos from the scene appear to contradict those characterizations.
CNN’s Jake Tapper shared this video of the event recorded by a witness on the scene with audio overlay of Noem’s verbal description of what happened.

The Wall Street Journal did its own analysis of the shooting, which also contradicts Team Trump’s version of the events. A frame-by-frame review shows a federal officer pulling a handgun away from Pretti. Less than a second later, an agent fires several rounds. “Where is the gun?” agents shouted in the chaotic aftermath.

NewsNation reports two witnesses who saw the shooting filed affidavits depicting what they saw.
One says Pretti didn’t touch any of the officers and didn’t appear to be resisting. He was merely helping a woman who had been pepper-sprayed.
She’s now terrified that ICE is looking for her, saying they are lying and she doesn’t know what they will do to her if they find her.
