Minneapolis Shooting Victim Was A VA Hospital Nurse

The 37-year-old man shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis today has been identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a U.S. citizen with no criminal record.

The Washington Post reports he was an intensive care nurse at a local Veteran’s Administration hospital dedicated to caring for veterans.

Trump administration officials have tried to characterize Pretti, without evidence, that he intended to attack federal agents.

Gregory Bovino, the official in charge of Trump’s Border Patrol operations, told the press Pretti was intent on a “massacre.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, said, “This looks like a situation where an individual arrived at the scene to inflict maximum damage.”

Video evidence directly contradicts their accounts.

In a recently released video clip of the encounter (below), you can see ICE agents had pushed a woman onto the snow-covered ground and Pretti (with just his phone in one hand), stepped in to help the woman. The agents then pepper-spray him and shoved him down on the ground.

According to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, Pretti was “a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.” At no time do we see a gun in Pretti’s hand.

While several agents wrestled with him, one steps in and removes Pretti’s gun which was still in its holster.

The second the gun was taken, another agent shoots Pretti dead.

Pretti’s family has released this statement:
