Meta (which owns Facebook, Instagram, and Threads) has announced it is immediately terminating major DEI programs including policies that cover hiring, training and choosing suppliers. From Axios:
The move is a strong signal to Meta employees that the company’s push to make inroads with the incoming Trump administration isn’t just posturing, but an ethos shift that will impact its business practices.
Meta said it was changing course because the “legal and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the United States is changing,” per a memo by Janelle Gale, vice president of human resources.

Just three days ago Meta ended its fact-checking programs and relaxed hate speech policies which now allow for calling LGBTQ people “mentally ill.” Of course, what this is really about is falling in line with Donald Trump and his MAGA crew to avoid boycotts and public attacks. Other major companies like McDonalds and Walmart have down shifted their diversity, equity and inclusion policies in recent months as well.
