Jobs Report: 162K Jobs Added In August – More Than 3x Economist Predictions

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today the U.S. economy added a surprising 162,000 jobs in August (more than 3x economists’ predictions) as the unemployment rate remained steady at 4.1%.

However, the ADP National Employment Report for August showed just 38,000 private sector jobs added in August.

It’s worth noting that Donald Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics last year because he didn’t like the numbers coming out.

And we are two months out from an election. So, consider those factors in weighing which figure is closest to being correct.
