ICE Officer’s Own Video Undercuts Team Trump’s Account Of Minneapolis Shooting

A newly released cellphone video, reportedly filmed by Jonathan Ross, the ICE officer who killed Renee Nicole Good, appears to contradict Team Trump’s public account of the fatal Wednesday shooting, raising new questions about whether the agent who opened fire was ever in immediate danger.

The footage captures Ross’s own perspective as he approaches and circles Good’s maroon Honda Pilot during what the Department of Homeland Security claims was a federal operation in south Minneapolis.

Inside the SUV, Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen and mother of three, appears seen calm as she smiles at the masked agent. After he walks around the vehicle to the passenger side, where a black dog is sitting in the rear, he continues to front of the SUV and moves to the driver’s side window, which is open.

“That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you,” she says in a friendly tone of voice, as Ross continues around the vehicle filming its rear license plate. Her wife, Becca Good, stands nearby, recording as well.

Ross then walks along the passenger side of the Honda Pilot, where the front wheels are visibly angled to the left. As Ross seems to head back toward his own vehicle, other federal agents rush into view, shouting, “Get out of the car. Get out of the fucking car. Get out of the car.”

It’s not clear why she was being ordered out of the SUV.

Renee Good then puts the SUV in reverse. Looking over her left shoulder, she turns the steering wheel and the front wheels sharply to the right, away from the agents, and the vehicle begins to move.

Ross, still filming with one hand, appears almost fully clear of the SUV’s front path when he says “whoa” and quickly fires his gun three times.

As the Honda moves out of frame, Ross can be heard saying, “Fucking bitch.” Legal experts are say that statement could be an indicator Ross’s frame of mind and/or bias in the moment.

According to Department of Justice guidelines, ICE officers are to not stand in front of a car, and not use deadly force if he could step aside (which he did).

I don’t see how this helps Team Trump’s account of the deadly shooting.
