Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, is now oh-so concernstipated about the Health and Human Services Department removing the entire 17-member vaccine advisory committee.
During his confirmation hearings, now-Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. promised Cassidy he would “maintain the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices without changes.”
Cassidy was the deciding vote for Kennedy’s confirmation.
Of course, now the fear is that the ACIP will be filled up with people who know nothing about vaccines except suspicion. I’ve just spoken with Secretary Kennedy, and I’ll continue to talk with him to ensure this is not the case.https://t.co/iXjTDieAwY

This is on you. You voted for him despite his decades-long anti-vaccine activism.

This should not surprise you bill. You voted for him, and are the only reason he won

Again, you voted to confirm him. You’re responsible for this.

Sen. Cassidy – at the hearings you promised vaccines would not be negatively impacted by RFK Jr. Just how do you plan to ensure the new committee isn’t filled with anti-vaxxers?
Hint: Just talking doesn’t do anything. He lied to you in the hearings and he’ll mislead you again. — Tirah Att (@TirahAtt) June 9, 2025
