Charlie Kirk: Juneteenth Is ‘Pagan Garbage’ Meant To ‘Subvert July 4’

Endlessly far-right (and far-white) Charlie Kirk has a problem with the national holiday on Monday – Juneteenth.

As many know, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, abolishing slavery. But it took over 2 years – June 19, 1865 – for the news to reach the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, TX.

Imagine getting the news that for two years you’ve been freed from slavery – but no one told you.

For decades, Black people have honored the day with prayers, parades, parties and trips to Galveston. And in 2021,  President Joe Biden signed a bill making Juneteenth a federal holiday.

But professional asshole Charlie Kirk calls the idea of Black people celebrating the day ALL Black people became free in the U.S. “pagan garbage.”

He wonders aloud why Black people celebrate the day they became independent in the U.S.? His answer is that Black people are “not religious.” And that the “entire point” of recognizing such a significant day in U.S. history is to “subvert July 4.”

From Kirk’s podcast on Friday:

“Some of you will be listening to this episode as it airs, on Juneteeth. What the heck is Juneteenth? It depends who you ask, OK? But let’s talk about what it actually is. And we opposed Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday as it happened.

“The issue is that the entire point of it, as per postmodernists do and deconstructionists, is to subvert July 4. That has always been the agenda, that there’s a Black independence day and a national independence day.

At some point, you got to wonder, and this, the answer to the question is actually very simple. Why do these people need so much celebration? Why do these people need so many rituals?

And the answer is super simple, it’s because they’re not religious. Well, they’re religious in their own way. But those of us that go to church, we’re part of something. …

So if you completely secularize your society, like, “I need to be involved in something,” so you just start to create this pagan garbage.

Watch the asinine remarks below. What an ass…
